The unexpected Mate

**Authors note** Welcome everyone to my first book! I’m super nervous about this but I am also excited as well. I would love to hear feedback on what you guys think. I love to read so I thought maybe I would try writing. Also I have three toddlers so bare with me on updates please. I will do my absolute best. I just stood there and watched as my life completely fell apart. My boyfriend of three years ran in to the arms of another woman. He found his mate and it wasn’t me. My chest started to hurt but I couldn’t tear my eyes away. Mason was the Gamma of the pack. He was also my best friend. Pain rippled through me and I was finally able to tear my eyes away. I took off in a dead run to my house. I ran past our Alpha which also happens to be one of masons best friends. Alpha Ash has only been our Alpha for about a week now. He just turned 18 and his dad Alpha Damon decided Ash was ready to lead the pack. I heard Alpha Ash call after me chuckling. I ignored him and kept running. ‘Fu*k this I need to run with Mia I refuse to go home’ with that thought in my head I took a sharp Left going right for the tree line. I shifted while running. My paws hit the ground and I kept going without stoping. Shredding my clothes in the process but I didn’t care. Mia my wolf was huge. I was a Beta after all but I was still larger then most. “It’s not your Fault Amina. We will find our mate tomorrow” Mia said while we ran but before I could respond she stopped dead in her tracks. The smell of rotten flesh and mud filled our nose. Without thinking I mind linked all the warriors along with the Alpha “ROUGES” A light brown wolf came out from behind a tree and started to stalk towards me. This wolf was small and skinny, covered in mud and leafs. I automatically crouched down into defense mode. I may not be the packs Beta but I was one of the top fighters. I also trained the rest of the pack. The Rouge launched forward to attack l, I jumped to the side just in time opening my jaw and spinning my head I grabbed the back of the wolfs neck. I shook my head fiercely back and forth until I heard a snap, then I let go watching the wolf’s lifeless body fall to the forest floor. I heard sticks breaking and my head snapped up to find at least 15 rouges coming out behind the trees and stalking towards me. Well s**t I crouched getting ready to fight. Well if no one comes then at least I don’t have to deal with heartache anymore. Next thing I knew at least 20 warriors along with Alpha Ash, my brother who is the packs beta, and of course Mason rush towards us. Without stopping they all slam into the rouges and the fight starts. I was stunned for a moment but I was ripped back to reality when I felt teeth sink into my side. I yelped in pain then a nasty growl left my mouth. I rolled ignoring the pain in my side throwing the Rouge off of my side and onto the forest floor under me. I stood over the copper colored wolf and put my paws on his face and stomach. Before the wolf could do anything my teeth landed on his throat and I ripped back ripping his throat right out. Blood dripped from my face and I stumbled. I had no choice but to shift back knowing I was going to be completely naked. I needed to see the damage to my side. The battle at this point was pretty much over so I decided I was safe to shift. Once I’m shifted back I feel the warm liquid dripping down my side. Yup I’m going to have to go to the pack doctor. Out of the corner of my eye I see someone walking towards me. Mason He goes to reach for me. Oh hell no. “You touch me Mason and I’m ripping your throat out” I snarl at him. The nerve of this guy. I look at him and his mouth is hanging open just staring at me. I look back at him shooting daggers at him. I stood up and stumble a little. Mason grabs me and without thinking I punch him in the throat. He falls back on his a** gasping for air and grabbing his throat. I turn and go to one of the trees hoping there are clothes stashed away. Relief floods over me when I find a shirt and a pair of shorts. They are a little big on me but it will have to do. As I’m getting dressed I hear Alpha Ash laughing. “Dude you really pissed her off.” My brother Zane said laughing. “What’s did you do man” Zane said picking Mason up off the floor. “I found my mate” Mason reply’s with his head down. Still straining a little to talk. Zane gasps and let’s him go. “When” he said in almost a growl. “About 15 min or so before we got the warning about the attack” Mason replied in almost a whisper. “WHERE WAS MY SISTER WHEN YOU FOUND YOUR MATE!” Zane is seething at this point. “She saw everything Zane. We were hanging out. It’s the mate bond man I couldn’t control myself” this statement earned Mason a punch to the face. I giggled a little before I decided to save Mason. He was right it was the mate bond but still that hurt. Stepping in between Zane and Mason I looked up at my brother and forced a smile. “I’m ok Zane I promise. Plus this means I can find my mate now and hopefully he has a bigger d**k then your boy Mason. Laughter boomed out of Alpha Ash whom I forgot was even there. Zane looked beyond grossed out and I heard a growl leave Mason. I spun around to face him and just smiled. “Oh come on now Mason I’m sure your mate will come to love the term big things come in small packages.” That earned me another laugh from the Alpha. At this moment I felt extremely dizzy, I completely forgot that I was hurt and most likely loosing a lot of blood. “Mason, Zane take a few of the warriors around the perimeter. Split into 2 groups and see if you can find out where these rouges came from. I will take Amina to the pack hospital.” With a nod they were off and Alpha ash was scooping me up bridal style. I felt weakness start to take over. Me and Ash never got along but for some reason I felt safe in his arms. “He’s so sexy” Mia purred. I couldn’t even respond I was so tired. “Stay with me Amina we are almost there” for some reason Ash sounded a little scared. No that’s my imagination because I am hurt. There is no way in hell Ash is afraid of me dying. Plus it was going to take a lot more then one little rouge to take me down. With that I slipped into the darkness. ***************************************************** I woke up to a bright white room with the sound of beeping around me. Where was I? “Well hello Amina” Alpha Ash was right next to me. I sat up still looking around trying to remember what happened. The attack. There were rouges. I was hurt. I automatically pulled my shirt up and looked at my side. It looked pretty bad. These wounds were really deep. I probably lost a lot of blood. “Why didn’t you have Zane bring me instead.” I looked right at Ash. Normally this would be taken as a challenge but Ash knew this was just how I was. I am very defiant and that will never change. This does not help the fact that me and Ash do not get a long and we never have. Ash has always been co*ky and that’s something I couldn’t stand. I will admit that he was handsome though. I stared into his golden eyes waiting for him to respond. “Your brother has a job to do and I wasn’t going to make you deal with Mason after all of that” Ash said raising an eye brow. I felt a blush creep on my face. What the hell is that I never blush. I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding. “Thank you” I said in a low voice almost a whisper. “What was that Amina?” Ash said in amusement. “Take it because that’s the only time your going to hear me say it” I snap at him. Goddess I said it once don’t be a jerk. I crossed my arms and looked at Ash. I seen black cross over his eyes but only slightly. “The Doc said you can leave whenever you would like. I need to go meet up with Hope” Ash said standing. Hope was Ash’s latest bed warmer, she was also convinced that Ash was going to take her as a chosen mate and make her Luna. I think Ash is just bored to be honest. I watched him leave as I got up to get ready to go home. I walked out of the pack hospital and i went to start walking home when all of a sudden I felt a fist make contact with my face. I stumbled to the side being caught off guard but quickly regained myself. Before Hope could make contact again I caught her hand and twisted her arm to the side. “YOU SL*T” she spat in my face. “What the hell is your problem Hope?” I said as calmly as I could. “YOU ARE!” She screamed in my face I rolled my eyes and then glared at her “I didn’t do a single thing to you Hope” I growled “You are trying to take Ash away from me” she growled back and with that all I could do was laugh. ***************************************************** Ash’s POV I walked out of the pack hospital going to look for Hope. She’s not really my girlfriend but she likes to think that she is. Don’t get me wrong Hope is beautiful but her personality sucks the big one and not in a good way. I can not keep my mind off of Amina though. For some reason her bright blue eyes are and her smoking hot body is all I can think about. Normally I would have made a warrior bring a wounded to the pack hospital but this time I didn’t trust anyone else. “Ash” well I found Hope. I turn around and she’s walking towards me like she’s on a mission. Well s**t “Hey Hope I was just coming to look for you” I tell her forcing a smile. “Why in the world were you with that wh*re?” “Excuse me Hope but you do not have the right to ask me that question nor do you have the right to talk that way about anyone in this pack!” I growled back and my wolf was in full agreement. “The he** I don’t I am your girlfriend and future Luna of this pack I am your equal. I also want that sl*t gone by the end of the night” she snarled at me. She actually snarled at the alpha. Not only that but she actually thinks she is the future Luna. Hell to the no. Before I could say another word my head snapped up and I seen Amina walking out of the pack hospital. I didn’t even have time to blink when it happened. Hope punched Amina in the face making her stumble. I felt my jaw hit the ground when Amina caught the next punch. When I say looks could kill Hope would be six feet under by now. “YOU SL*T” she spat at Hope Amina looked pissed but yet extremely calm at the same time. That could not be good. “What the hell is your problem Hope.” Yeah this can not be good Amina sounds just a little too calm at the moment. I start making my way over to them. “YOU ARE” “I didn’t do a single thing to you Hope” “You are are trying to take Ash away from me” Hope growls but at this point I am beyond done. Then to my surprise Amina starts laughing hysterically. She’s laughing to the point where she has tears coming down her face. I could not help but feel a little hurt by this. “I don’t want to take the Alpha Hope but are you sure he even wants you as a chosen mate?” Amina c*cked her head at her and smiled. She knew exactly what to say to p*ss people off. “OF COURSE HE WANTS ME AS HIS CHOSEN MATE AND I ALREADY TOLD HIM TO HAVE YOU GONE FROM THE PACK BEFORE THE END OF THE NIGHT SO GO PACK AND GET OUT” Hope is screaming in her face now. At this moment Amina noticed me approaching me. She spun Hope around and shoved her at me. Hope stumbled and I moved to the side making her land on her face. I am beyond angry now. “Hope let’s get this straight. First I am not choosing you as my Mate meaning you will NOT become the Luna. Second I am NOT kicking Amina out of the Pack because you want me to. What ever relationship we had is officially ended.” I am doing everything to keep Axe back now. My wolf is clawing to come out. Hope looks up at me with her chocolate brown eyes her blonde hair off to the side. A mix of emotions are playing across her eyes and I do not even care. Maybe she should have learned her place. “You should have never let this stupid she-wolf into your bed” Axe is growling at me “She was just to pass the time Axe calm down will you” “I will calm down tomorrow” Before I could ask what was going on tomorrow Axe had retreated to the back of my mind putting up a wall and cutting off our contact. Stupid emotional wolf. “You will beg to have me back Ash mark my words!” “THAT IS ALPHA ASH TO YOU HOPE NOW GET OUT OF MY SIGHT” I could not help but use Alpha tone on her because she just kept p*ssing me off. She got up and stomped away. I looked over at Amina and even she looked mad at me. What did I do now. “For your sake I hope your mate never learns about your bed warmers Alpha Ash” “What is it to you Amina” where the hell is she going with this. “Because Ash the wrong she-wolf will rip your b**ls off and you’ll never have an heir” she shrugs her shoulders at me and I shudder at the thought. Most people I would flip on or Beat them to the ground for talking to me like this but for some reason I could not do that to Amina and I don’t know why. “Goodnight Alpha” Amina says as she turns and walks home. The sun is down now so I turn to go to the pack house. As soon as I get into my room I crash on my bed exhaustion taking over me. I drift off to sleep thinking about what Axe said. What’s going to happen tomorrow. ******************************************************** Amina POV I wake up the the sun shining into my room. Well happy birthday to me I guess. Get out of bed and head to the shower. Once I’m done I come out to pick out my clothes settling on a blood red shirt and black capris pants. I slip on my black combats boots and head down to the kitchen. I have lived on my own for a few weeks now. My brother moved to the pack house due to him being the Beta. Our parents passed away a few months ago during an attack from another pack. My father died in battle and my mother took her own life just days later. It’s very uncommon for mates to survive once one of them dies. I know my mom loved us but I also know loosing her mate was too much for her. I never blamed my parents for passing away. I also knew that they were watching over Zane and I. Zane tried to force me to move into the Pack house. That earned him a broken nose. I refused to live under the same roof as Ash. We put up with each other when we have to but that’s as far as it goes. Even though yesterday I did not actually mind being around him. It was almost like being close to him was calming. I shuttered at the thought. Once I made it into the kitchen I made myself some toast and a cup of coffee. We had visitors coming today to talk about the rouge problem. Just a few other Alphas from packs that surrounded us. Blue Luna pack was the largest pack in the world. We were also the strongest but we still had meetings to ensure other packs were ok. It has been like this for as long as I could remember. It was never anything formal, normally we would just do a Barbecue and have a fire once nightfall hit. I was almost hoping I would find my Mate today but I also didn’t want to leave my pack. Granted my mate could be in the pack but I would not have known until today. I finished my toast and was working on my second cup of coffee when my front door swung open. “Minaaaaa Happy Birthday Babe.” My best friend comes yelling in threw the front door. Due to me being a werewolf I do not bother locking my door but now I am thinking I should start. “Hey babe and thank you” I say smiling at my best friend. Eve is the same height as me 5’7 with long raven hair just like me. She has curves in all the right places and she is drop dead gorgeous. Eve has a round face and a very athletic build. Most people say we look like twins but the only difference is that I have ice blue eyes and Eve has bright green eyes. “So are you ok I heard about what happened yesterday” “Ya I’m ok but it will take a few days to fully heal. The Doc called me last night after I got home to tell me no training for two days” I sighed I loved to train but I also needed to heal if I was going to be of any help to anyone. “Well I am happy you are okay. I can not stay long but I wanted to pop in and wish you a happy birthday quick.” Eve smiled her million dollar smile at me and ran over and gave me a hug. “You better tell me if you find your mate today Mina or I’m beating your a**” this made both of us giggle because we both know she would never stand a chance. “I promise” and with that she left the house. It was getting close to me having to meet up with Zane. I normally would be doing training but due to the injury yesterday I would be be on the sidelines walking Zane through what to do. I grab my phone and start heading out to the training arena. The training area is next to the pack house which is not to far from where I live. Zane is standing in the front waiting for me while everyone starts getting into position. “Hey Zane” “Happy birthday brat” “Awww that hurts” I say pushing my bottom lip out and grabbing my chest. He rolled his eyes at me and turned to face everyone. “Ok everyone grab a partner and start sparing. 30 minutes on offense each the other does defense.” Zane yells out once everyone is there. Without taking his eyes off of me “How are you feeling Amina?” “Actually not to bad” he grunted at my response but nodded his head. I face back to the crowd. Some of our warriors are going around helping with technic while Zane and I watch. Everyone is looking really good and I can not help but feel a since of pride. I have been training the pack for a while now and everyone has approved so much. Training is different for everyone. Some are better at speed, for some it’s strength and for others it is tracking. We train together twice a week so everyone can work on what they are not great at. The rest of the week everyone has special training to build on what they are great at. After everyone is done sparing it’s my turn to speak. “Today we are doing a challenge” I yell to the crowd with my hands behind my back. Everyone loves our challenges. So we do these often. “CHALLENGE” everyone yells back, fists pumping in the air. Pride fills me. “THE HUNT IS ON” I yell back out. Everyone splits into two groups. Half are hunted and half are the hunters. The hunted have to make it up into the trees to be safe and if they get pinned by the hunters before they can they loose. Over half of the hunted need to make it up into the trees to win. But if over half of the hunted gets pinned then the hunters win. I see Hope trying to go to the hunters group and that’s not going to fly with me. “Hope today you will be in the Hunted group not a hunter switch teams now” I shout over to her. “You are not my boss I will choose what ever team I want” she snarls crossing her arms. “Actually I am in charge of training and I have been for a while now so either you switch groups or you will be running fifteen miles today” I say back with a smile. Zane starts giggling next to me. Hope stomps over to the hunted group and trades places with a girl on the other team. “You have one hour to complete the challenge or we run five miles and start over with sparing” Everyone nods in agreement. Only the hunters are allowed to shift the hunters stay in human form. Zane blows the whistle and the hunted take off. A few seconds later the hunters are off. Of course the first hunted that’s captured is Hope. She can not run to save her life in human form which is why she always tries to be a hunter. After yesterday that was not going to fly with me. Within forty minutes the hunters howl in victory and everyone comes back out to the clearing. “Good job Hunters you win today’s challenge” Zane yells out. Everyone grabs their water and heads to the locker rooms to shower and change. “We have about three packs coming today. Just alphas and who ever they bring with them.” Zane states “I know I just hope that none of them are my mate. Not that I do not want to find my mate but I really do not want to leave the pack. The pride that I get along with the satisfaction from training it just wouldn’t be the same.” I sigh knowing I never want to leave this pack. Zane nods at me in understanding but does not say anything more. We walk together in silence when a smell crosses my nose. “Do you smell that” I ask my brother as I sniff the air. “I don’t smell anything” Zane replies now sniffing around himself. “It smells like baked apples and cider” I say and then stop in my tracks. Mia is stirring in my head. “MATE” Oh no oh no no no no no. “Are you absolutely sure Mia?” “Of course I am sure I know my mate!” She snaps at me. I inwardly groan. All of a sudden my Mate stills and starts sniffing the air. No no nope I’m getting outta here. I turn and take off on a dead run back to my house not looking back to see if I’m being followed. I get in the house and try to slam my door shut but it is being pushed open. I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding as my brother pushes his way into the house. I let go of the door and let him in. “Mind explaining to me why just happened back there Mina?” He says crossing his arms. “I found my mate” I state locking the door. “WHAT” he screams making me flinch a little. “AND YOU JUST TURNED AND RAN AWAY!” I want to crawl under a rock at this point. “It is because of who it is Zane” I state in almost a whisper. Zane lowers his hands and stares at me. We just stand there for a moment. Neither one of us are saying anything so Zane takes this opportunity to break the silence. “Well are you going to tell me who it is?” Zane asks throwing his hands in the air. “Nope” I can not tell him. I do not what him to know yet. Hell I want to forget it, but I know that I can not. I sigh with my head down. I know I will have to face him again before the day is over, but I really do not want to. “Whatever” Zane grumbles unlocking the door and stomps out of the house. Goddess only knows how my brother will react when he finds out who my mate is. ******************************************************** Ash’s POV I am standing out front of the pack house patiently waiting for the other Alphas to show up. They should be here really soon. I am lost in thought about how today will go. Not really paying any mind to anyone around me when this amazing smell hits me and I stiffen automatically I can feel Axe start to pace in my head. The smell of honeysuckle circles around me and at this moment Axe growls in my head “MATE” I could have figured that is what was going on. My mate was close and her scent was heavenly. I start to scan around me to find the source of this amazing scent. “Must find mate” Axe starts to whimper. “I know and we will” I reassure him. My eyes land on a girl running away. Well sh*t of course it would be her. It makes so much since after what happened yesterday. I watch as Amina halls a** to her house with her brother, my Beta right on her heals. “She is running away from us why is mate running from us” Axe whines in my head “I am not sure Axe but I promise you I will find out” I decided to give her some space before I confront her. She will have to come back to the pack house today anyway. Fear starts to set in what if she decides not to come back. What if she starts to avoid me. “Do not think like that Ash she will come back. If she doesn’t then we will go to her” Axe sounds very sure of this. “Ok” I reply even though I am not so sure. With that I turn to head inside mind linking Zane. “Please alert me when the Alphas arrive at the gate I will be in my office” “Will do Alpha” Zane reply’s I go into my office and sit at my desk. I am going to have to talk to Amina there is no way around that. I just hope she will talk to me. I do not think that I want to reject her but I do know that this will not be easy. We do not have the best relationship in the world but I am hoping I can change that. I have been in my office for about an hour now thinking of nothing but Amina. Goddess I hope she talks to me. Next thing I know there is a knock on my door and my heart skips a beat. “Come in” But the girl standing there is not who I want to see. Here we go. Hope is standing there.
