Miscommunication

You should trust your friends to mess up everything in your life. They think, like a mother, they do what is good for us but that is not always true. Sometimes they just over complicate your life. Laurel was to be blamed for the real trouble in Iorwen’s life and it was partially Iorwen’s mistake. During lunch break Iorwen went to washroom leaving her mobile behind on the table with her friends. And in that unlucky time Kai sent a message asking her out for a coffee after school. Laurel being Laurel replied back with an ofcourse, that sounds great ! “Laurel what the hell are you doing with my mobile?” Iorwen asked sitting next to her. “Umm... I deleted some number , trying to find it in your.” She said lamely. “I have total ten contacts, including yours. I do not have many numbers.” She said in scolding tone. Laurel was saved by Oswald who came in and gave a light peck on his girlfriend’s lip. Iorwen sighed and let it drop. She was in a better mood since last night. Suddenly her mobile vibrated and she checked immediately kind of excited. Really, you are ready for coffee. Thank you so much, that means a lot. So, Java Hut at 6?” – Kai Iorwen slammed her fist on the table and her friends looked at her startled. “Laurel, don’t tell me you replied to a text from Kai?” She asked with a dangerous tone. Laurel gave a sheepish smile and nodded lightly. “Guy likes you Nin, give him a chance. Why the hell are you avoiding a really hot guy?” She asked gathering courage. Iorwen sighed, she couldn’t be rude and a jerk to her friends. “Fine, it’s just a coffee, it’s not like we are getting married.” She agreed and noticed a smile of relief on her friends’ face. Sure. She sent in her reply. This made her feel less weird about the coffee meeting with Kai. She just knew this evening was gonna be stressful. ***** Tristyn noticed her in black jeans and a simple grey hoodies. His eye brows scrunched in absurdness, even in these boyish clothes, he could admire her. What was with the girl, she was not pretty enough and yet he felt really attracted. He heard all the meeting for coffee chat and how her friends motivated her to go. They considered Kai Arden a hottie and he smiled wishfully at that. Had he been visible they would have encouraged her to go with him. That would have made his work easier. There were times like this when the curse was hurting and today it felt like this. You wouldn’t have pursued her then. He thought. Had he been visible, he would have gone after Bianca or Helena, the two sexiest girls at school. And then the rest of the female population who would have followed. But not her, she would never have paid her second glance. And it was kind of discouraging and depressing to think that. But being invisible had its own disadvantage; he could just walk in the damned coffee date and irritate the soul out of her. Today was going to be fun! ***** Iorwen was walking out of her last class when he heard some kids laughing loudly. She usually ignored all this but after last night she had no idea what Tristyn might do. As she walked closer she noticed Brandon, the i***t making fun of a sickly looking girl in glasses. She walked up feeling angry and stood up in front of the girl like a shield. “Go pick up on someone your own size.” “I can’t find someone else beside you.” He smirked. “And we all know you are too scared to pick on me.” She taunted. He sneered hatefully at her as his friends held him back. “Yeah right, hold on to the leash or should I remind you how you got a broken jaw last time?” She warned and then helped the thin girl up. The girl was scared and trembling badly. She had messy blonde hair, hazel eyes behind glasses too large for her bony face. She was dressed in a simple black long sweater and denims. After walking for a while, she whispered, “Thank you.” “Be careful, I’ll not be always around as your personal bodyguard.” Iorwen said flatly. She found her type of girls, despicable, who couldn’t stand for themselves. “I-I will. My name is Elizabeth, Liz in short.” She introduced herself with a small smile on her face. “Iorwen.” “It was nice meeting you Iorwen; I will see you around hopefully.” “Yeah sure!” Iorwen replied not meaning it. Her nerves were getting all riled up because of the coffee meeting. It’s just a meeting Iorwen, not a DATE! She consoled herself. But it was not working; she loved curling up in her comforter with a book and mug of hot coffee. She didn’t want to go out in this cold. Rachel had instructed her to change into something nicer before going but she was completely going to ignore that advice. When she walked in Java Hut and noticed Kai was already there. “Hi” He said as she walked up to him and noticed that he was scrutinizing her. “Nice outfit!” He grinned. Kai saw her in school with same outfit and it seemed he was not bothered with her laziness. “Yeah, well I am all about fashion.” He laughed and she smiled back a little feeling less suffocated. “So what would you like to order?” He asked. “Vanilla Latte with lots of whipped cream.” She replied almost instantly. He nodded and walked up to the counter while Iorwen stressed about what a non verbose like her would talk about. After a while he returned with the tray. She noticed that he ordered the same thing. “That was great what you did back there.” He said while adding sugar to his cup and not meeting her eyes. “What?” “Defending the person being bullied.” “Oh, that. Not a big deal, I hate Brandon so I had to urge to do it!” “But you did nevertheless. It was brave and kind of cool.” He said now gazing at her with admiration which she found uncomfortable. She cleared her throat and took a sip of coffee to avoid any awkwardness. As bitter coffee touched her taste buds, she realised she haven’t added sugar yet. All the while she stirred the coffee she could feel his eyes on her and that made her want to punch his face, a bit aggressive but that’s how she was. “I think the sugar has drowned to the point of death, Senorita!” Mr. Invisible joined her on the seat. And the spoon she was stirring with slipped from her hand. She looked up and saw her smirking sexily at her. “What’s wrong Iorwen?” Kai asked with a frown of concern. “Tell him it’s him that is wrong sitting with you.” Tristyn said with evident anger to his tone. “Umm... nothing just lost the spoon.” She said and bent down to pick it up and also trying to get back to normal breathing. This was not happening to her, it was so embarrassing. As she bent down her head touched Tristyn’s thigh. “Woah, Senorita, what are you thinking? Control your carnal desires!” He said in mock surprise and scolded her playfully. She growled in anger as she got up. Tristyn laugh vibrated through her as she shifted a little on her seat. Kai was eyeing her weirdly. And Tristyn was showing off the stupid, ultra cute dimple! She was victim of miscommunication!
