Chapter 16

We all sat around Sam’s office and started talking. He sent Gabriel to look over training this morning to think about new recruits. “I found a couple promising people to start, there’s a few women I think are ready to start training with us. A couple men, Cordelia’s brother is one of them. He’s shown the most improvement out of most of the guys. So all together there’s about 15 recruits in total. We’ll reevaluate in a few months to see the younger groups but right now that’s all we’ve got.” Gabriel said. “We have quite a few interested in the younger class so if we can move them to full time basic training after their graduation we can start from there and work towards what we need. We’ll call the new recruits to a meeting after we’re done here and go ahead and get them enrolled into army training.” Sam said. “Also we have a trial that needs to be set and I’ll go ahead and apologize ahead of time, Denny.” he said “Trial needs to be set for Bella Akins for attempted assault on me and Cordelia, there was an incident at the school this afternoon and she shifted and tried to attack me. Cordelia shifted and stopped her.” he said. “Wait, so my sister tried attacking you? That doesn't sound like something she would do. I know she’s a crazy b***h but she’s not that crazy.” Dennis said. “It’s true, Christina, Joseph and Keegan all saw it. She was trying to flirt with Sam and when I demanded respect from her she challenged my authority then tried jumping on Sam.” I said. “Denny, I’m going to try my best to get to the bottom of it but she’s got to have consequences. She’s in the cells now, Avery and James brought her down. You and I can go talk to her later before we let your parents know. I’m hoping there’s an explanation for her behavior.” Sam said. “I understand man, I know how it has to work, but dad is going to be pissed. He’s got them both so spoiled that even he doesn’t see any wrong they do.” Dennis said. “I know he is, that’s why I haven’t told him yet. I’m going to get Cavannah and her family try some magic to see if her behavior is being caused by something supernatural. Their attitudes have gotten awful since they saw Cordelia and I together, first our relationship ceremony, then Bethany in our room, then Bella at school. There has to be a reason for it.” Sam said. Cavannah is part of the Louise coven and she works as our pack witches as well. They own a small magic shop in town and help with anything magical our leaders need in the pack. Their coven consists of four generations and a married in warlock. There's Cavannah, Cassandra, Sawyer, Jackson and Harper. I've never met them before but we all knew about them, they're some of the strongest witches alive and they choose to stay here in our pack. "We'll call the new recruits up here and give them their good news. Someone call Cavannah and get their coven in here and after we're done with the recruits we'll head down to the cells and see if we can get some information." Sam said. "I want to go with you to talk to her." I said. "I don't think that's a very good idea babe. You're the last person she wants to see right now." Sam replied. "So are you, and if it's something supernatural she won't want to see the witches either. I'm supposed to be the Luna, I should be there," I said. "If you're really determined to go, let us talk to her first. She won't want to talk to the girl that almost crushed her windpipe." Sam said. "Okay, that's fine. But before we leave her, I am talking with her. Magic might have caused her to act like this, but it wouldn't have worked if she didn't already hate me for some reason." I said. Sam nodded and the door opened filing in all the new recruits. Sam announced what they were there for and they all said their thank yous, I have to admit, seeing Connor up there getting promoted was amazing. Seeing the pride in his eyes reminded me of my dad, he was going to be amazing just like him. 

    We walked down to the cells and Sam had me and the witches sit behind the glass where she couldn't see us. They all stood behind me chanting in a whisper. I guess they saw me watching so Cavannah spoke "We're just trying to uncover any magic radiating off of her. Usually when people infected with magic sense another witch, they lose composure so we are here until we can remove any magic. Do not worry my Luna, you will be safe." she said smiling at me. It was strange, I knew she was over a hundred years old but she didn't look a day over fifty. "I'm sorry, didn't mean to stare, it's just fascinating seeing you work." I said. "I understand my dear, not many werewolves have seen witch magic, just our little parlor tricks." she said chuckling. I hear Sam start speaking so I turned back around to watch. "Do you understand why you're here Bella?" Sam said. She sat there chained to the table and didn't say a word, she just looked up and rolled her eyes. "Bella please, dad will lose his mind if you keep acting like this and get banished. What are you doing to yourself?" Denny asked. "I'm not doing anything, she attacked me for no reason. I was talking to Keegan, then she made me shift so she could try and kill me. She shouldn't be here, and shouldn't be our Luna." Bella said. "Bella, there are witnesses, multiple witnesses. You're on camera from the school, they sent us the footage, do you want to see it?" Denny asked. "Yes because you'll see, I didn't do anything for her to attack me and I didn't do anything for me to be locked down here!" she screamed. One of the guards brought a small laptop in with the video already on the screen. Denny and Bella both watched and you could see her eyes wide in horror. She really looked like she had no idea what was going on. "I couldn't have done that." she said "I didn't do that. I..I don't remember it happening that way." she said. She dropped her head into her hands and you could hear her crying. "Do you remember anything that could have made you act like that? Why Cordelia, there's been tension your entire lives." Sam said. "I don't know, I don't remember. I remember talking to Keegan and when you walked up with her everything went black. I woke up to her pinning me down and I submitted to her. You had me arrested and I didn't even know why. I'm so sorry, I don't know what came over me. I've never been close with her but I never wished any harm on her." she said crying. "Did you talk to anyone new? Any of the witches in town, there's a few other other than the Louise coven." Sam asked. "No, I only talk to Keegan and Bethany. Everyone else hates us." she said. Of course everyone hates you, you and you posse terrorize everyone. "Stop them, we know what happened. We removed the magic and found out who is responsible." the witches said in unison. I mind-linked Sam "They figured it out, she isn't responsible, but they know who is." I said. "I'll be right back Denny." Sam said walking out of the room and into the room we were sitting at. "Alpha, I wish I had better news for you but you are not going to be happy about this at all." Cavannah said. "What is it?" Sam asked sternly. "The magic was done outside of town, a potion given to both sisters causing the outbursts. The one responsible was able to give the potion and make them do whatever they pleased. This is what you are not going to be happy about." she said looking down. "Who was is, Cavannah. Punishment is necessary and required on the one responsible." Sam said. "Sir, I am very sorry to say, but the person responsible is..." she said reaching out to touch Sam's arm "I'll show you." Sam's eyes glazed over and were moving as if he was dreaming. When she released his arm his eyes went black and he let out the loudest growl I've ever heard. Denny heard and came running in the room "What the hell man, what did they say?" he asked. "Get my brother here now!" he yelled. "Yes sir!" Denny said. "Babe, what? What did they show you?" I asked. He paced back and forth shaking his head, his eyes still pitch black. I can usually calm him but it was definitely not working this time. "He had the nerve going after my mate. As if you would ever want him! I'm going to kill him, he had no right!" Sam yelled. "What is it?" I asked. "We will talk to him when he gets here." Sam said. "Cavannah, I need you to give me something to make nothing but the truth come from his mouth." Sam said. "Yes alpha, we prepared something before we came due to the circumstances. Light this bundle of herbs when you go in the room and no one in the room will be able to tell a lie." she said. He dismissed the witches and grabbed my hand and pulled me to him, nuzzling his face into my neck and inhaling deeply, I could feel some of the tension release from his body but I don't think anything I could have done would make this any better. We heard yelling coming from down the hallway so he pulled me out into the hallway. "Let me go! Do you know who I am, you have no right to have your hands on me!" Keegan protested. "Sam what is going on? Why do they have your brother?" Mackenzie asked. His mom and dad both followed and watched as their youngest was chained to the table. We walked in and Keegan's eyes went wide "Now what Sam, what the hell do you want!?" he screamed. Sam lunged across the room right into Keegan's face "I'll give you one opportunity to tell me what you did on your own accord before I use what the witches gave me. Your choice." he said. "What did he do Sam?! What is going on?!" Keaton yelled. "Dad! He will answer for himself, I will not answer for him!" Sam yelled. Keegan sat there staring at Sam refusing to say anything so Sam pulled out the bundle of herbs and lit them on fire. He sat them down on the table and sat down across from Keegan. "Now, tell them what you did!" Sam yelled. "She was supposed to be mine!" Keegan yelled. "What the hell are you talking about? You and the twin bitches have done nothing but talk s**t to me and treat me like trash! Why would I ever have been yours?!" I screamed and a gust of wind blew the door completely off the hinges. "What was that?" Sam asked. I shrugged my shoulders, we both walked out to the hallway to see guards running towards the room "Are you okay sir?" they asked. "We're okay, did you see anything that could have done that?" he asked them. "No it's clear out here, we thought it came from inside that room." they said. "I don't know." Sam said. "Don't say anything, I will explain when we are alone." Zarya said in my head. "What do you mean you'll explain. I didn't do anything." I said back to her. "Yes Cordelia, you did and I will explain later. You and Sam have a lot to learn." she said cutting out link. What did she mean, I didn't do anything, I just got mad. "Come down here, move Keegan into another interrogation room and watch the door. Let me know if you see anything at all." Sam said. We all went into a new room and started over again. "Now explain. What do you mean I was supposed to be yours." I asked. "I've been in love with you for years now. I always knew you were supposed to be my mate but my brother stole you from me." he said huffing at Sam. I could see Sam's eyes going black again, he was getting pissed. "I didn't steal a damn thing from you. I've known she was my mate for weeks now. I didn't choose her, I found her. You were so in love with her but treated her f*****g terrible. You mocked her, made fun of her, made fun of her friends. You have no idea what love is, you haven't even gotten your wolf yet. I don't understand what you were trying to do. What was your end plan because Bella and Bethany didn't make a dent." Sam asked. "My plan was for Cordelia to find you and Bethany in your room, I didn't know she would be going up with you. And Bella I wanted her to hurt you so I could take your place as alpha and Cordelia would be mine. Both of you messed up my plan and the witch promised no one would know it was me." Keegan said rolling his eyes at Sam. "Have you still not realized how strong this pack is, we have the strongest wolves, witches, witches and vampires. We can find out everything. I'm surprised the witches even helped you knowing who our witches are. What am I supposed to do with you Kee? You 're my brother, but you can't go without being punished. What am I supposed to do with you?" Sam asked. You could hear the worry in his voice, he was tough on his brother but you can tell he really cared for him but the alpha has to be the one to make the tough decisions. "I don't know alpha, what are you going to do? What punishment am I worth." Keegan sassed. "Keegan, you stabbed me in the back. You tried setting me up, you tried hurting me. Hell you tried to make my mate, we've marked each other, we've mated and our wolves have mated. We belong to each other and you tried to take that from me and you're being a smartass to me. I could turn you in to the council for treason." Sam said making his family's eyes go wide. "But because you're my brother and for absolutely no other reason than you're my brother, you get two weeks in solitary. You get out the day of your birthday and we'll hold the mate finders ball the weekend of your birthday to actually find your mate. This stays here." Sam says looking around the room. "I am not lenient on anyone and the only reason I'm being lenient on you is because you're my brother. But no one outside of this room knows what happened. You tell me what witches you got your potion from and this is done." Sam demanded in his alpha tone. "I don't know Sam. The said they live about an hour outside of the pack grounds. I met them at a party after I saw you two kissing at the senior ball. They said they could sense my anger and said they could help me." Keegan said. These truth herbs worked so well, I can't believe he's telling us everything. "Take him into solitary, two weeks, no visitors. I want him in a magic protected cell, no magic in and no magic out. He is to be treated like every other prisoner in these cells with no exceptions. I don't even want him seeing daylight for his stay here." Sam said to the guards. "What do you mean no visitors, Sameul? That is my son!" Mackenzie screamed. "No visitors means no visitors, mother! How does he learn he's wrong if you go and baby him!?" Sam yelled back. "He's my son and I will visit him when I please." Mackenzie muttered. "I will say this once and only once. If anyone is caught trying to visit him while he's here, you will be added to a cell along side him. I cannot and will not have disobedience in this pack, I am the alpha and my word goes! He deserves to be in here and if you disrespect me by trying to coddle him, you will join him. No questions and no arguments!" Sam growled. Mackenzie's eyes flashed black and she went to say something when Keaton stepped in "She understands and she won't be an issue for you son, your mother loves you two and just wants to protect you two. We would have never expected this to happen so your mother doesn't know how to process it, but she will abide by your rules, son." Keaton said. "Thank you, now please. Everyone go home. We still have a lot to go over in my office and we need to get Bella out of here and settled back. Probably get Bella and Bethany looked over by the witches." Sam said "Let's go my love. We still have some things to talk about as well." he said. 

    We went back up to his office and he closed the door. I expected everyone to be there wanting a status report but no one was there. Sam turned around and looked at me with a worried look in his eyes "Did you do that to the door down there?" he asked. "I don't know, it's never happened before." I said. "Something happened and you looked super freaked out then you talked to Zarya. Draco won't tell me anything other than you and I have a lot to learn. Do you know anything that could have happened? I've heard of special wolves who are able to do stuff like this but they're rare and they usually know that they can do it." Sam said. "It's never happened before, whatever it was, if I did it, I didn't mean to do it. Zarya won't tell me anything, she just keeps telling me I have to figure it out on my own." I said. "Well, I can help you with that, child." said the strange person from the ceremony..
