They were already here!!!

It was the night of my 18th birthday. I was lying in my hammock drinking my sweet coffee watching the stars. The other night and my encounter with the Lycan were still fresh in my mind and still worried me. I looked at my watch. 11:58 P.M I needed to get upstairs and locked in the house before midnight. Should I receive a mating mark it would be painful and wanted to be in the comfort of my room. I was giddy and excited not only for my mating mark but also because I would find out what elemental gift I would receive tonight. Would I receive the power of controlling water like Nin's parents? Or maybe fire like my parents? Maybe I would get the control of earth or even the air. Regardless I would be excited no matter what it was and it would give me another way to protect myself. 12:00 AM A searing pain began on the inside of my wrist. It felt as if I was being branded. I muffled my screams with my pillow as I felt the mark spread over my wrist like a searing white hot tattoo gun. My screams turned into a demonic roar. I shook my head calming myself down. The mating mark is something all Faeries get regardless of what type of Fae you were. On our 18th birthday, 2 silver circles wrapped through each other were etched into the tender skin of our inner wrist, by ancient magic created by the goddess. Our mates' names appeared on the circle along with our own for the rest of our lives, unless one of you should die to which the name would turn black signifying the part of your soul that was now gone forever. There were no more chances at finding a fated mate after you lost them and for most, it drove them mad. Finally, the pain subsided. I rose and held out my wrist. I ran my fingers across the symbol that would now be forever burnt into my skin. What? You thought I could reject my mate like those books you read? Ha! Don't I wish it was that easy! No! No one can reject their destiny. It's for life regardless of who they were. They were chosen for you for a reason and you were to accept it and not question the moon goddess's decision. I held my wrist and snapped my fingers creating a faint light. I gasped when I saw my tattoo! Instead of two, I had four circles. Each silver circle joined the next until they were all linked. On every circle were the names of my mates. I had three! Not one like most everyone I knew aside from those destined to be twins. Not that I knew very many people other than my parents and Nin's parents. Twins shared a mate but I had never heard of anyone else who did, until now that is. I had 3 mates! Why did the moon goddess hate me so much? Nicolai, Brecclan, Luca, and of course my name Aubrette were all written on their circle in a beautiful cursive script. That's when the realization struck me and my entire body began to shake. NO! It couldn't be. I was mated to 3 of the most dangerous Fae of all time. Brecclan Drago, was a Dragon Fae. The prince to be precise. Son to King Alejandro. They hated each other but tolerated their existence in each other's lives. He had women falling at his feet. A different one under his arm every night, sometimes two or three. His body rippled with muscles, he had green hair and bright piercing blue eyes. There was news of the Dragon Prince defying his father to form his army. Did he know about the coming war? Or was he a part of it? Nikolai VanWarren, was a Demonic Dark Fae. The prince of darkness is what the tabloids called him. Though no one knew who he truly was, because no one knew where he had come from. It was as if he had appeared out of thin air. His magic was something everyone feared. And If he had me to feed off my magic he would be unstoppable. He could never find out what I was or how strong my power was. The evilest of them all, Nikolai was also the most handsome. He had these terrifying black eyes that appeared to be a portal that tugged you in, calling your name. Even from the pages of the magazines, I could feel the power radiating from them. He had washboard abs and large biceps and shoulders. A V shape below his six-pack made you desperate to find what was beneath it. I had drooled over him many many times. How stupid could I have been? Last but certainly not least, Luca Othanos! He was a Vampiric Fae and rumored to be the strongest of them all, although very few had seen him use his strength. As a vampiric fae, I had no doubt just how strong and fast he could be. He stayed in the background for the most part. He would be in the pictures with Niko and Brec but he was never the center of attention. I hadn't read much about him, but he was dangerously attractive. He had cobalt blue hair and a muscular body. He had dark crimson red eyes and luscious full lips surrounded by a thick beard. They would have known since they had turned 18 I was this mate. It also explained why they were all 3 always together. They were my mates as I was there's only I was like a 4th wheel interfering with their perfect union. As soon as my mark was formed my mates could feel my location. They could follow the pull to me, and Goddess knows what they would do should they find me. I had to run. I had to start running and never stop. Never stay in one place too long. Most were excited to find the fates because they were rare. Most had to select a choice or they had not been given a fate Why had the Goddess given me three? My fight-or-flight instincts had kicked in. I grabbed everything I could and stuffed it into my duffel bag. I paused for a moment when the realization hit me that I hadn't received an elemental power. How is that possible? My parents both had an elemental power. I pushed the worry down needing to focus on getting out of here. I quickly threw on clothes, ran down the stairs, and stopped momentarily grabbing the picture of my mother, father, and myself on my 13th birthday, from the fridge, and tucked it into my back pocket. I threw open the back door and ran. As I exited through my hidden entrance in the fence behind my house I heard a crash at the front of the house. They were already here! "AUBRETTE!" Nikolai's voice echoed through the night! My bond was trying to pull me back to my mates but I fought like hell and ran as fast as my feet would carry me.
