Chapter 1
Amelia POV People say things will keep getting better as time goes on but that doesn’t work here in this kingdom. I have heard countless stories about peaceful packs and quarrelsome ones but seeing this world again hasn’t changed my view. Everything remains the same the people who live here and the environment. No reconstruction. My name is Amelia and I was born a healer. My mother told me it was magic but I don’t know if it’s only me who has this kind of magic. It seems like I’m the only one in this kingdom. I’ve tried to snap out of the thoughts of how my father was killed by Alpha Ramon but they won’t go away. They’ve been stuck in my head for ten years. It happened like this: my father was Darkmoon’s former Beta and he was accused of sleeping with the former Luna. That’s how he was killed. Yes that’s what my mother told me. My mother was one of the pack nurses before she was reduced to an Omega and for ten years now she has been suffering. I escaped back then. I ran away from the pack to the human world to learn surgery. Well I did pretty well not perfect but beyond just a normal surgeon. On my way back to the pack now to rescue my mother. I heard recently that the king just died and out of the three packs one is needed to lead. I don’t even pray it should be Darkmoon Pack. Alpha Salmon is evil sucking human blood. At first I ignored the scent I noticed before but now I could pay more attention to it passing throug my car The scent came from the bush by my side. I have a small car so I parked. I didn’t want to enter Darkmoon Pack in daylight. I preferred it to be night so I could sneak my mother outside and talk to her but the scent kept coming. I parked and stepped out of the car. I heard Ami sniff. That is my wolf. I checked if there was no other wolf around watching me. “Be careful Amelia” my wolf warned. When stepping into the forest my legs were shaking. It felt odd and unfamiliar. It had been a couple of years since I took my wolf out so I saw this as an opportunity. I let Ami shift feeling my bones snapping and reshaping after so long of not shifting. It was more painful than it should be but soon enough Ami was shaking out her reddish-white fur and taking off into the woods. Even though I was in the background while Ami ran I could feel how good it was to stretch her legs and feel her muscles flexing in her body as she ran. It’s quiet tonight thankfully and Ami’s paws on the ground are nearly silent as she runs giving both of us a chance to enjoy the sound of the forest. A part of me is not as comfortable as Ami. She keeps running following the scent but I can tell you the scent makes her feel comforted somehow. Getting to the middle of the forest it was night and the pack war was going on. For real the middle of the forest is not pretty good. The air whistled into my ears and the sacredness overshadowed us. I began to feel scared and overwhelmed. “Our mate is nearby” Ami said. “Shut up. Don’t say what you don’t know. I’m not here to find a mate. I’m here to see my mother. If possible I don’t want anyone to see me.” It took me a few moments to realize that my mate was nearby as Ami said. I couldn’t believe it. He wasn’t howling and I heard no sound. “Ami are you trying to play with me now?” “No I’m serious. I can see him. There he is” Ami’s voice sent shivers down my spine. While I was turning to capture whoever got in my way when Ami talked I stopped narrowing my eyes to the direction. There I saw a gorgeous tall muscular form howling in pain struggling to breathe as he crawled on the floor. “He is our mate” Ami said but I shut her up. “I’m not here for a mate. I’m here to save my mother.” I steadied backward as my head knocked the wood branches. During the pack past war my mother once told me that wolves of our kind are the smartest ones. They trick in any way to capture. I howled. Well I’m in my wolf form and I could fight a little bit. I mostly learned how to use my brain in the labs not to fight a wolf but this got me out of control as I ran deciding to stop walking backward. I saw that he didn’t even feel scary. Instead he was howling in pain as he kept crawling on the floor toward me. I slowly approached the wolf our mate. I don’t even know what to call him. This wolf must be in terrible pain and he is going to be feeling vulnerable unable to escape. He must have been a victim. I moved closer to him as I extended my hand letting him sniff and see that I meant no harm. I shifted back to my human form naked but this isn’t about modesty. “I am a surgeon. Well I’m studying to be a doctor for both the human world and wolves. I don’t want to hurt you. I can help you. Will you let me see if I can help you?” The wolf sniffed my hand and then nuzzled me. I still smelled something like blood. He had obviously been fighting. He is now out here alone without anyone to see where the moonlight is. I raised him up a little bit. He moved to his right keeping an eye on me as I carefully removed the arrow from his lap and his stomach.
