Is Being a Daughter a Blessing or a Curse
Daughter: A Blessing or a Burden?
Chapter 1
Saba was an only daughter. She loved watching TV dramas all day.
One day, her mother said, "Saba, turn off the TV. You watch TV all the time. Pay attention to your studies."
Saba replied, "Mom, let me watch this last scene. I will turn it off after that."
Her mother switched off the TV and said, "You should focus on your future."
Saba complained to her father, "Dad, Mom turned off my TV."
Her father smiled and said, "Your mother is right. You spend too much time watching TV."
Saba suddenly said, "I am thinking about making a boyfriend."
Her parents were shocked.
Her mother said angrily, "What are you saying? You are not even eighteen yet."
Saba replied, "My friends have boyfriends. They arrange birthday parties and give gifts."
Her mother blamed TV dramas for giving her such ideas.
Later, everyone sat together for dinner.
Her mother had cooked Saba's favorite biryani with raita.
Saba happily said, "Thank you, Mom. You are the best mom in the world."
After dinner, Saba asked for a new dress.
Her father had recently received his salary, so he took Saba and her mother shopping.
At the market, Saba liked a beautiful blue dress.
The dress cost seven thousand rupees.
After bargaining, her father bought it for six thousand rupees because Saba liked it.
Then Saba wanted matching shoes.
The shoes were expensive too, but her father bought them for her.
Her mother became worried about the spending.
She said, "You fulfill all her wishes. That is why she is becoming stubborn."
Her father replied, "She is our only daughter. If we do not fulfill her wishes, then whose wishes will we fulfill?"
After shopping, they ate ice cream and returned home.
At night, Saba showed her new dress to her parents.
They admired how beautiful she looked.
Later, Saba went to sleep.
When she was asleep, her parents talked about her upcoming eighteenth birthday.
Her mother said, "Tomorrow is Saba's birthday."
Her father replied, "I want to make her feel special."
Although they did not have much money, they decided to arrange a surprise birthday party for her.
They planned decorations, food, gifts, and invitations.
They wanted their daughter to feel loved and happy.
The next morning, Saba tried to remind her parents about her birthday.
However, they pretended to forget.
Saba became upset and thought her parents really forgot her birthday.
She felt sad and disappointed.
But her parents were secretly preparing a big surprise for her.
