I watched them. They were telling the truth, but how could they do such a thing without me knowing? Unless, the witches did this to them. "Did those witches make you like that?" I blurted out. Nikki looked at the ground under her feet. She looked upset. I flattened my ears in sadness. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ask like that. It was rude of me."
Ben came up to me and placed his hand on my head. "It's alright. We are used to being feared and pushed away. We are all we need in this world. However, to answer your question, yes. They did this to us. We have many souls trapped inside our bodies to the point that some nights, we have no control of what we do."
"Ben, tell her everything. I think she can help us." Kade said. I tilted me head in confusion. What were they talking about? Didn't they already tell me everything?
Ben let out a sigh, drawing my attention back to himself. "Nikki is 9 years old, Ellie is 11 and Kade and I, are 13. He and I are fraternal twins. Nikki was left in a box in an alley when she was born. The witches brought her back to the house when they found her. Ellie, was left by her parents because they claim that they didn't want a girl. Kade and I, we were born from another orphan in that house. The witches told us that if we were good, the treatments that we 'needed to live' would be painless. However, no matter how good we were, it was still painful. They would take living animals from shelters or pet stores, remove their souls and shove them into our bodies by force. I lost count of how many there are inside Kade and I. Ellie has more than 100 at this time and Nikki, has way more than any of us. They started doing this to her the day they brought her in. Nikki was forced to endure having multiple souls shoved into her body day in and day out. They rest of us, got one or two every other week. I think they wanted to see how many they could put into one body. At night when there isn't any other sounds, we can hear the souls in our bodies crying out for help. A few weeks ago, Ellie was forced to take in a rather large soul, and since then, she's been getting nosebleeds or her ears will bleed for no reason. She can't shift because of that soul. Some of the souls in our body claim that they need to get to their queen and so, we ran away from the witches. WE let them take over and lead us to where they felt like they had to go. A few hours ago, they went silent and we all heard this howl coming from the top of this mountain. We are heading up there now. Would you be able to help us get there?"
I felt my anger towards those witches growing immensely. I was trembling with rage and Onyx was growling so harshly that it hurt my head. "That---" I took a deep breath to try and calm myself. "That howl, was from me." I looked at them. I couldn't hear the souls inside them. It seemed as if they were quietly listening to everything.
"Can you help us? Please, I can't take not being able to sleep at night anymore. I just want to have my body back." Nikki begged me. Her eyes showed pain and fear. She looked so torn apart inside that I didn't know if I was going to be able to do this alone.
"I can't..." I paused to rephrase my words. "You have to trust me, okay?" I looked at each one of them. They nodded and watched me, but I can't do this alone. I needed Ursis to help me. "I'm going to take you all to my house. There, my mate and I will help you. If you wish, you may stay as long as you want to. Also, if there is a soul inside you that does not wish to leave you, I cannot force it to leave. I promise, I will take good care of you. There will be no pain, and if there is, it's because a soul does not want to leave."
When they agreed, I had them follow me back to my home. Ellie ended up collapsing because of a nosebleed, so I carried her on my back. Onyx kept whimpering in the back of my head. "She's not going to make it. We have to hurry."
"Children, I need you to shift into something fast. An animal that has great speed. Ellie isn't going to make it if we keep going this pace." I watched them change their forms into, fast animals. Ben was a cheetah, Kade was a fox and Nikki turned into a humming bird. I nodded and took off down the mountain. They kept up with me easily. Just what I wanted. I burst through the front door. "Ursis! Adonis! Come to me now!" I yelled, using a very powerful voice that I had no clue I was even capable of using.
Ursis was the first one to come to me, following right after was Adonis. "Yes, my Queen?" Adonis bowed his head in respect.
"Now isn't the time for that. This girl is in need of both magic and science. Witches did this to her. She has so many souls inside her body that she can't take it anymore. It's killing her. Ursis, remove the souls that want to leave, Adonis, I give you permission to use to scientific intellect to heal her. She is not a toy so don't even think about using her as one."
Ursis took the girl up to one of the empty rooms with Adonis hot on his tail with a bag full of crap that I had no idea even existed. "Will she be alright?" I looked at Kade, his eyes full of fear and worry.
I changed forms and slipped on a large shirt that was left at the front door for me when I go for runs. Quickly, I pulled all three of them into my arms. "I may not be a mother yet, but I want you all to know that I care for you. I will make sure each and every one of you, is well taken care of. That includes Ellie. You see, Ursis and Adonis, are very old. They are well over 200 years old. They were among the very first few Beasts. I know they will take great care of Ellie." They didn't look quite convinced, so I added something that would make them laugh. "And if they don't, I have them strip to the birthday suits and stand outside with their hands on their heads." Nikki giggled and Ben and Kade smirked. That was a good sign. "Come, lets get you lot cleaned up, clean clothes and food to put in your bellies."
After they were cleaned and fed, I brought them over to where Ursis and Adonis were taking care of Ellie. She was hooked up to a few blood bags and some fluids. "She's doing better. I've managed to stabilize her heart rate and her blood pressure. She is in a medically induced coma so that she can get the rest she needs and so that Ursis can remove the souls." Adonis paused to gently touched Ellie's cheek. "Even I can hear those poor souls screaming to be set free."
Adonis wasn't able to hear anything anymore because I removed his Beast, but if the soul or in this case, souls are loud enough, he could hear them. I looked over at Ursis who was slowly removing a soul from her body. He looked like he was in pain. "Ursis? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. They are just very loud that it hurts my head. I can hear them all. Thousands of them are trapped in these children." Adonis quickly helped Ursis take a drink of water. "Take them to the other guest rooms. This is going to take a while. Especially for the little one there. She has so many inside her."
With a nod, I brought then to their own rooms. "Ben, this room will be yours, Kade the room next to this one will be yours and Nikki," I paused and opened up the door across from the boys rooms. "This will be your room. My room is up the stairs. It's the first door on the right. Get some rest. If you need anything, just call for me." With that, I headed back to help Ursis.
It took all night to remove all the souls from inside Ellie. She ended up keeping one inside her. The only one that refused to leave her. Just like I had told them, I would not force the soul to leave if it didn't want to. I had Adonis begin waking her up from the coma while I headed to the other's rooms. I opened Nikki's door, but she wasn't there. I figured she went to Ben or Kade's room, so I checked there, but even they were not in there. I called on Onyx to let me use his sense of smell. I quickly followed the scent up to my room. I furrowed my brow. Why would they be in my room? I opened the door and found the three of them curled up on my bed with Nikki carefully protected between the boys. I smiled. This was rather cute. I quietly walked over and sat on the edge of the bed, watching the boys move in closer to protect Nikki. I felt my heart melt at how protective they were for each other. I gently brushed each of their cheeks. "Hey, rise and shine. It's time for breakfast." I spoke gently so not to startle them.
Ben was the first to sit up. "Food?" He grumbled, still half asleep.
Nikki was the next one to wake. "Ben-Ben. It's cold. Why you get up?" I giggled as Ben hugger her.
The last one to wake was Kade. He opened his eyes and growled at me before flopping back down on the pillows. "Come on, Kade. It's food time. Wake up." Ben pushed Kade's arm until he finally sat up.
"Good morning you three." I smiled. They replied with their own which made me smile even more. "Were the guest rooms not to your liking?" I asked as we headed down to the kitchen.
"They were comfy, but we didn't feel safe being alone. We are used to sleeping together." Ben spoke.
Nikki pipped up saying; "It's because we missed you. You're the first one to ever show us kindness and love. Ben-Ben and Kade won't say it but I will."
I stopped and looked at them. My heart was melting more and more. I pulled them all into my arms and hugged them. "You all are wonderful children. I'm glad you are here. I promise I'll take good care of you."
After breakfast, I took them to see a now awake Ellie. She was still hooked up to the monitors and was still getting blood and fluids. I let them be for a while. I was more than happy to let them talk in private. I headed right over to Ursis who was sitting in the living room. "The children are together upstairs." I said and I plopped down on the couch beside him.
"That's good. What do you want to do with them when they are all better?" Ursis asked, without hesitation.
"I want to keep them. If they will let me." I blurted out. Ursis raised an eyebrow at me. "If you will let me too, that is."
He laughed. "I don't mind. You know I want children. Even if we can't have our own just yet, I'll still love them like they are my own."
"Than adopt us." Kade said from the door way to the living room. Ursis and I looked at him. He pulled out some papers from a back pack that he has been carrying around. "I have here, 4 birth records and 4 adoption papers that have been sighed by the witches. It says that whoever signs these will become our legal guardians. We were talking about it upstairs and the four of us agree that we want you two to sign them. I know we literally just met, but I can tell just by looking at you and how you took care of Ellie all night long, that you are good people. We have wanted to have a family of our own. The witches would often tell us that no one wanted to take all of us. My brother and I may be the only ones blood related, but Nikki and Ellie are our sisters. Please, adopt us."
I felt like my eyes were on fire because I was trying to fight back my tears. My heart screamed at me to take them in when I first saw them, and now, they want Ursis and I to be their parents. I know I'm still very young, but I learned from my Mom how to take care of children. I tried to blink back the tears, but they just spilled over my cheeks and I quickly ran to Kade and hugged him while I sobbed happy tears. "Yes, yes we will sign them. We are your family now. The six of us are a family." I felt Kade's shoulders shake. When I pulled away to look at him, he was smiling and crying at the same time. "Go tell your brother and sisters. I'll take those and sign them. You are my children."
Kade handed me the papers and took off back upstairs. Within seconds, I could hear the happy squeals from the girls and Ben was shouting yay. I smiled and signed the papers with Ursis after making sure they were the correct papers and the witches didn't put any spells on them. When a witch casts a spell, it leaves a terrible odor behind. If there was a spell on those papers, I would have smelled it. I smiled and had one of the maids send off the adoption papers to the government. They were mine and once those papers have gotten to where they belong, they will legally be mine.
