I opened my eyes. It was still blurry. It's been two days now that I have been trying to fight this off. The elders have no idea what is wrong with me and I haven't been able to talk to Onyx either. The elders told Ursis they believe that this is part of that Witch's spell, but it feels different. I tried to sit up, but I couldn't without help, so I just fell back onto the pillows and closed my eyes. I forced myself into that darkness again where I was able to talk to Onyx face to face, but this time, I was dragged into a meadow. It was a beautiful place. Flowers from all over the world grew without problems. Deciding that I felt safe enough here, I wandered around looking at all the flowers, and that's where I saw her.
She smiled at me with her bright green eyes and rose red lips. She looked like Ursis a little bit. Might be strange to say, but I swear I felt a pull in my chest toward her. "You feel that too?" I heard Onyx, but his voice didn't come from in my head like it usually does. I looked to my left and there he was. He was bigger than he was in my head, more like he stood face to face with me. I could feel the alpha aura radiating off of him. He looked to be about five feet tall and six feet long. To say that I was shocked about his size, would be an understatement.
"O-Onyx?" I stuttered. He looked at me and wagged his tail, letting his tongue lol out the side of his mouth. I didn't hesitate and hugged him. I could feel the warmth from him. "Where have you been? I've been trying to talk to you for two days now."
He whimpered and rubbed his snout on my neck. "I heard you, but for some reason, I couldn't get you to hear me. I was howling and barking as loud as I could, but you couldn't hear me."
"I can tell you why." The lady said. Her voice was as soft as the breeze that went through the meadow. Onyx and I looked at her. We had no idea who she was, but we knew that we were safe with her. We could feel it. "The Witch's spell is gone. That was cured when you bonded your soul with my son. What is happening to you now, is very normal. Even I went through it when I bound my soul to my mate."
"Wait, your son? You're Ursis's Mother?" I blurted, my jaw hanging open in shock. She giggled and used her finger to gently close my mouth. Her skin was cool, but soft.
"Yes. He is my son. However, I've called you here for another reason other than to see my daughter in-law. You have gone into heat, my sweet girl, but you cannot give in to your desire to reproduce right now. Danger awaits you and my sons. My half sister and her Witches are plotting. You cannot allow them to gain your abilities. Fight your heat, so you can protect our people. I'll give you my power to aid you in this war."
"Your sister started this war? Really?" I let out a sigh. "I guess it runs in the family. What's the reason this war started? Adonis and Ursis fought over what was better for the earth. Did you have the same fight with your sister?"
She smiled sadly. "No child. My big sister didn't want our father to marry my mother. When she couldn't kill my mother, she plotted something bigger. When I was born, she tried to kill me, nearly succeeded too. Our father took her powers away for a while and when he thought that she had learned, he gave them back. That was when I was about ten years old. When she got her powers back, she ran away and has been trying to kill me since then. When Ursis was about 20, she did kill me, but she didn't just kill me for the sake of jealousy. She wanted my powers because they were stronger than hers. You see, I'm a hybrid. I am half witch, half beast. My sweet Jasmine, you must not let her get your abilities. I had passed them to Ursis, now he has passed them to you."
"Wait, does that mean Adonis and Ursis are hybrids too?" I couldn't help but ask. This was a lot of information to take in and I hoped that I could remember it all.
"Yes. They are witch, beast, and human. However, only the females have powers like my sister and I. My sisters name is Helena. I dislike what I'm about to say, but she must not remain on the earth any longer. Her time has passed, now she must join me. Now, I cannot keep you any longer than I have." She paused and pushed a ball of light into my chest. I gasped, but I didn't cry out. No matter how painful it was. "Remember, fight your heat. Onyx will be with you, even if you can't hear him."
I sat up with a gasp and instantly regretted it because I felt dizzy and nauseas. I felt someone's hand steady me. I knew who it was. I could tell by the scent. I closed my eyes and fought against my heat. When I opened my eyes again, I looked straight into the sexiest eyes I've ever seen in my life. Ursis's green eyes. I felt my core burn and my thoughts went to take me away into lust. I shook my head. "No. Ursis, go. Please."
I had to look away, or I was going to give in to my desires. "Ixora, are you okay?" He asked, his voice thick with worry and lust at the scent of my arousal.
"Please, I have to fight my heat. I can't give in to my desires. Your Mother told me that your Aunt Helena is plotting. I don't know what, but I can't give in to my heat. I'll end up pregnant and I won't be able to fight her if I am." I explained in a rush. I could feel my desire to take him getting stronger, and I couldn't give in. This was going to be hard to deal with.
I had spent the next week sitting in the tub with ice cold water. Only females were allowed near me so that I wouldn't do something that I would regret. I finally stepped out of the bathroom to find Ursis sitting on our bed with rather large bags under his eyes. I shivered at the sight. He looked horrible and I did not like it. I actually hated the way he looked right now. He had a scowl on his face, dull eyes and a slouch in his shoulders. "Ursis?" I gently called out to him. His eyes shot to mine and immediately, he was standing up and coming toward me. He had a hungry look in his eyes.
Ursis wrapped his arms around my ice cold body. "Mine." He growled lowly in my ear.
I relaxed into his chest, nuzzling my nose into him to get more of his delicious scent. "Yes, my love. I am yours."
"You look like shit." He chuckled.
I giggled. "Look who's talking." I retorted back at him. I pulled him over to our bed and climbed in, not caring that I was only in a towel. He had seen me naked the day we met, so it didn't really matter that I slept naked with him. "Seeing that it's dark outside, let's go to sleep. I've missed you terribly."
He agreed and climbed into bed next to me, pulling me impossibly close to him. I loved it. I loved everything about him. His scent, his mind, his body, his soul. Everything. Even the tiny little details that most never even notice or never knew about. Like when he's in a deep sleep and feels safe and comfortable, he humps whatever is trapped in his arms. That's usually me now, but some times, it's a pillow. I think it's cute, but others might find it kind of weird.
I won't lie and say that I had a better sleep than I did last night. Last night was the first time Ursis and I had ever slept so well. Usually, we get up before the sun, but today, we woke up at one in the afternoon. There was no point in even going to school today. We had already missed the majority anyways. So, I slowly crawled out of bed and headed to the kitchen to make food. Something I very much needed after spending a week in the tub without food. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that Ursis and I had bought a mansion. Adonis and Cora lived with us too. This was the best way possible to keep an eye on him and try to get Ursis and him back into the brotherly groove that I know they could get into.
At about three in the afternoon, I decided that it was going to be a great idea to go for a run, but not just any run. No. I was going to climb the mountain that the mansion was built at the base of. It gave wonderful shade and a icy breeze that I loved. I was always too warm, even before I got Onyx. Now that I have him, it's a whole lot worse. In the dead of winter, the ac is on and the windows are wide open but I'm still over heated.
I walked a bit before removing my clothing and changed forms. I had to admit, it was still wonderful being in this form. The freedom that I could feel was astounding. "Faster." Onyx growled with glee in my head. I pushed myself harder, leaping over fallen trees and bushes. "Faster!" He yelled.
Adrenaline pumped in my veins, the icy wind getting stronger. Snow started getting closer as I climbed the mountain. "Give me more speed, Onyx." I felt him join me. Whenever we ran with both our souls, our eyes were two different colors. I loved this feeling. Trees whipping past me in a blur, the undercoat of my fur becoming slightly damp from the snow. "Almost there."
"Faster! With everything we got!" I agreed with him and focused on moving my legs faster. I felt him to the same. "This is it!" He yelled.
With one last leap, we stood on the very top of the mountain. We stood there and looked over the lands that we bought for the Beasts. Everything would look tiny to a normal human, but I could see everything clearly. I threw my head back and howled. It was loud, strong and demanding. Not that I wanted it to be, it just was.
I looked up at the sky, the air up here was thin and cold, but that didn't bother us. My breath puffed around my muzzle as I sat in the snow, enjoying how close I am the the sky. I closed my eyes for a second, or, what I thought was a second. I opened my eyes and everything was dark. "I think we should go home."
"I agree. Kasey has been worried about us. She's yelling at me to come home." I giggled and stood up. The way down was slippery from the snow and ice, but I loved it. We were faster going down with the help of gravity. "Something isn't right." Onyx suddenly growled.
I perked my ears, listening but still running. I didn't hear anything at first, and when I went to go ask Onyx what he was feeling, I heard a stick snap and a crackle of a fire. It came from my left, so I went that way. I slowed to a stalk, keeping to the shadows. I peeked through a bush to see who was at the fire. I could tell they were humans. I changed forms and dressed quickly. Stepping out of the shadows, I came closer to the fire. "It's not safe here." I spoke, making them all jump out of their skin and scream.
I couldn't help it. I giggled at them. "Where did you come from?" One of them asked. His eyes held fear as clear as the morning sun.
"I live around here. This is my land. It's not safe here for you young ones." They all looked to be between 13 and 18. Two were boys, and two were girls. They also didn't look very healthy. "Come, I'll take you all back to your homes."
"No. We have no home. We were--"
"Don't. We can't trust her." A girl with red hair cut the boy with brown hair and green eyes off. I narrowed my eyes slightly.
"Do you mind if I sit by the fire to warm up? It's quite cold up on top of the mountain." The youngest looking girl who had short blonde hair and light brown eyes smiled and nodded. She seemed to be the easier one to talk to. "Ah s**t. Stupid me, I forgot to tell you my name." I paused scratching the back of my neck. "I'm Ixora. What are your names?"
The girl with short blonde hair smiled. "Nice to meet you. I'm Nikki."
"I'm Kade." Said the boy with brown hair and green eyes.
"I'm Ben." Said the second boy, who had the same brown hair as Kade, but he had a lighter shade of green eyes that could be mistaken for blue.
I looked at the girl with red hair and smiled, waiting for her name. She sneered at me before saying; "Ellie."
"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Nikki, Kade, Ben and Ellie. Do you mind if I ask where you all came from?" I smiled at them, hoping to gain a bit of trust.
Ben let out a sigh. "Sorry Ellie, but she seems like someone we can trust." He paused as Ellie glared at him, but didn't say anything to stop him from talking. "We are orphans. Our parents didn't want us so they left us in a small village very far away from here. They left us with a bunch of witches."
I gasped. "What were their names? I'm looking for a witch named Helena."
"No. No one there had that name. I have a question for you though, Ixora." I nodded and waited for him to ask. He seemed hesitant to ask, so I gave him a soft smile and a nod of encouragement. "Can we trust you? Like, if we were to tell you something, could you keep it a secret?"
"Of course, but only if you keep mine too." I smiled.
"Yours? What do you mean?" Nikki asked. She really was young. She might actually be younger that 13. She looks more like she's 10.
"I'll share my secret first. So you know that you can trust me." I paused and smiled. "I'm a Queen. I can turn into a dire wolf." They all gasped.
"That's a lie!" Ellie yelled. Her voice echoing around us in the darkness. I stood and removed my shirt and pants before changing forms once again. I looked at them one by one as they stared at me in shock.
"How? How are you just like us?" Kade spoke.
"Easy. I was gifted my wolf by my Elders. I have a mate, and I am the Queen of the Beasts. Are you also Beasts?"
"I don't know what you mean by Beasts, but we are shape shifters. We can shift into any animal we want. Whether it be fictional or not. Extinct or newly found. We think it, we become it."
