King damien had already arrived in the kingdom of Setopia and was attending a meeting with the members of the high council, he was to meet with king Morse later during dinner to discuss some issues related to security which the kingdom has been having of recent which has cost the kingdom some loss. He was just rounding up the meeting when he was informed by his advisor that a maid had requested an audience with him in private.

Even though this came as a surprise to him, it piqued his interest so much he couldn't resist granting the request. As she was led into his temporary quarters, he realised that this was no ordinary maid but rather the princess selena's right hand and this raised his eyebrows more. Of what use would he be to her, he couldn't wait to hear.

Bianca, the maid of Princess Selena, approached King Damien and curtsied, nervously she began, “Your Majesty, Sorry for interrupting your very busy schedule, I can assure you I have never done this and I don't wish to have to do this again and if I didn't feel this matter so important that you're my last resort i wouldn't be here".

The king stared at her and she took that as her sign to continue. "I come to you with a matter of great importance regarding Princess Selena.”

King Damien pushed the papers he was previously working on aside and nodded for her to continue.

Bianca took a deep breath and said, “Your Majesty, as you know, Princess Selena is of marriageable age, and there have been talks of potential suitors. However, I fear that if the wrong match is made, it could bring great unhappiness to the princess and which could then potentially cause the kingdom great harm".

Damien looked on at Bianca, " okay, and what does your princess's choice of a potential husband have to do with me, maiden?".

Bianca continued, “I have observed the princess’s demeanor and wishes for quite some time now. It is clear to me that her heart is not inclined towards the suitors that have been seeking her hand to wed, If she were to be married off to someone she does not love, or worse a brute who doesn't love, respect or care about her and her interests. I fear for what could become of her. This could very much lead to a lifetime of misery for her, your majesty”.

Bianca paused for a moment before adding,

“Your Majesty, I believe that you hold the key to ensuring Princess Selena’s happiness, I've observed you for quite a while my lord and I can promise on my life that there is no better man for her in all the five kingdoms than you king Damien. You have always shown wisdom and care in your decisions, and while I know that marriage isn't on the cards for you at this moment, I implore you to at least give this a thought".

King Damien thought the maid's bravery truly crazy to come before him with such a proposal, he wasn't blind to the princess's affections for him. hell he believed even a blind person could see that Selena was in love with him, and that there is the problem, it's not like he was totally against the whole idea of marriage, he was king and would have to settle down someday sooner than later to ensure the continuation of his bloodline on the throne but he planned that when the time came he would marry for duty and not love, the woman who would one day rule alongside him would have to be emotionally detached from him, he didn't want to get tied down by someone who was of no control of her emotions. he believed that good rulers had to have a strong hold on their emotions to think clearly about making decisions that would benefit the kingdom. love was not in the cards for him, so the offer had to be put off.

" I admire your bravery In bringing such an issue to me young lady, very few men would have the guts to table such an issue before me, but i am sorry to disappoint you by refusing your proposal ".

" your majesty................". Bianca attempted to interrupt.

"Quiet, let me finish".

she immediately shut up and continued listening.

"your princess is every man's desire, she is the true embodiment of graceful and regal but she is not what I want in a wife, I can assure you. The least I can do Is try to convince her father to at least put some consideration into the man he chooses finally as her husband, nothing more or less, sorry but that is the most involved I can be in, that will be all you may leave now".

he signalled for the guards to come escort her back out.

Bianca was heartbroken at having her proposal rejected, but she thanked him and stepped out.

However she was determined to not give up, she had never lost a fight she put her mind down to win, King Damien might not know yet, but she was going to take the choice Away from him here. She had grown to love Selena as a sister and she was done seeing her suffer, it's enough that her biological family treated her like trash but to have to go through the same treatment or worse at the hands of her husband would be where she draws the line.

King Damien was going to marry Selena, for sure she had no doubt about that, with a prep in her step and a smile on her lips which left all she met on the way wonder what put her in such a good mood, she happily skipped back to the kitchen to get a snack for the princess and then sit down to start plotting a way to get them both to the alter. She had much work to do.
