The deal is simple: companionship, discretion, and obedience in exchange for a life-changing monthly payment. But the lines blur when the nights grow longer, the touches deeper, and the rules harder to follow.

##1:Release Her
Ivy Monroe "When are you going to make the payment? Look, we are tired of keeping your mother in this hospital, if you know you're not going to pay. It's best we take off the life support" Those were the words the doctors threw at me. It's just a shame the kind of world we're living in. A cruel world, I looked at my mother who couldn't speak. She was unconscious. She had tubes connected to her mouth, if they took her off life support. It was as good as a funeral. Was I going to let that happen? Could I stop it? The only option I had now was to beg the doctors and plead with them. "Just give me some more time, I promise you I'll clear up the debts and come up with the money to cover the remaining expenses" I said as I begged and pleaded. The hospital management looked at me like I was a pest, nothing but a financial burden to them. You didn't have to tell me, I already knew that I was causing them financial constraints. "Look, miss Monroe. This is the very last time we are going to be lenient. If you don't get the bills by next week it would be best you found another hospital to transfer your mother to or tell her goodbye" Those are the last words I heard before they left, it was so bad that I didn't even look at their faces. I just turned to my mother lying helplessly on the bed. "I'm so sorry, I just wish I could do better. So I'm really sorry mom" I whispered underneath my breath. I didn't know if she was me. I looked at the monitors beside her. Her heart rate was stable, everything was fine but then I noticed her finger. It moved. "Mom is that you?" I asked as I stood up to look if she was getting up. But then I did not see any signs of her becoming conscious. "It's probably just my imagination" I gave into to my hopelessness but just as I was about to turn, I saw her hand move. Quickly around I started screaming "Doctors, doctor. Please come, my mom my mom. Her hair just...moved" I got nurses into the room and then they asked me to leave. **** I stood outside the ICU waiting for their reports. I hope it was a good sign. I mean, it is a good sign. Immediately one of the doctors came from her room, I rushed to get his attention. "Is she okay? Is that a good sign? Like is she going to be alright like back to normal?" I couldn't help but bombard him with different questions, the excitement within me had no limits. I really wanted to know if this was a hopeful sign. "Calm down, calm down miss Monroe" The doctor held my hand as he ushered me to a chair and sat me down as he spoke. "I know you must be very excited, if I were you. I would be too. In as much as this is a good sign. It also has, conditions attached to it" From the tone of his voice I knew there was more to this than I could explain. My curiosity was bought. "I don't understand what you mean? What conditions? I don't understand, explain to me?" "Calm down, Miss Monroe. Your mother has a 80% chance of getting her life back" I felt hope for once I heard that "But. If she does not go through the treatment plan we spoke about earlier. She might lose that chance forever" And just like that my hope was dashed away. "So what are you trying to tell me?" I asked as I swallowed a big lump of disappointment down my throat. "It's simple and I'm going to tell you in the best way possible. If she's not given the treatment within a span of 3 days she might go into a permanent state of coma" Three days, three bloody days. Where was I going to find the money for that? Just like that my hope fell from a story building and crashed on the pavement of New York City. I couldn't take it, so I immediately went home. I prepared a cold shower to remind myself of the harsh reality of this world. "Mom, I'm going to fight for you. I'll do whatever I have to do. However I have to do it to save you" That was a promise I made to myself, I had to save my mother by all means. Immediately I got out of the shower, I noticed my phone rang. Checking it, I saw that it was the event organization that I worked for. I was a temporary staff member there. At least for now. We had another event to organize. "New York City charity gala" That was for the text read. As I went through my phone pacing up and down my room, an idea popped into my head. "Maybe I could ask my boss for a little a loan?" I thought about it then I remembered the last time I tried to tell him about my mom he dismissed it. He seemed so heartless but I couldn't blame him. We were in a town full of hustlers. I took a deep breath, sighed and then looked out the window of my apartment. If only there was a way for me to get someone to help me, I would have. Just that, life has never been that easy. After admiring the citadel. I dressed up and prepped myself for work. *** Just as the Gala started, there were people, not just regular people but rich, wealthy and prestigious people. "Welcome to the New York City charity gala" The host said as you welcomed the various upper echelons. "It is an order to have you all at" Everything faded that evening or because I was buried in ways to save my mother's life. I didn't even know when I mistakenly spilled an entire tray of champagne on somebody. "Are you blind? Can't you see or something" "I'm really really sorry ma'am" I dropped the tray and tried to help clean her dress but she was so furious she dragged my hair and she started embarrassing me. "Release her" A voice called out to her, not just any voice, a deep masculine voice.
