Maxwell sighed in relief as Damien answered the phone. After calling him ten times straight today, he thought Damien would let his call go to voicemail again, but even though he answered the phone he didn’t speak. Leaving Maxwell feeling awkward for a few seconds.
Three beeps made Maxwell feel even more awkward as he pulled his phone away from his ear to see Damien hung up.
HE ACTUALLY HUNG UP ON HIM!
Maxwell was shocked, angry and a bit hurt. His best friend had been ignoring him since the night he left the hospital with him.
Maxwell felt like his teeth ached from grinding them so much. He steeled himself to call again. On the fourth ring, he picked up again.
“Damien........” Maxwell was unsure of what to say, but he needed to know what was wrong, “Why are you ignoring me?”
