Chapter 3

1511 Words
Being around Gina was hard, lying to her was harder. It was already bad enough that he was in love with her now he had to lie about his whereabouts at night. Of course, he couldn't tell her the truth, she wouldn't have believed him or she would have just freaked out and fired him. Scott was a werewolf, a creature of the night who was controlled by the full moon. He didn't come to New Orleans to be a personal assistant, he came here in search of the people that destroyed his life, the people that murdered his parents. He was only eight years old when it happened. He was in hiding and he watched as werewolves brutally murdered his mom. As soon as he was sure they had gone, he got out of hiding. Blood was everywhere, his parents weren't breathing, and he was all alone. He cried and then called the police. Ever since he was born his parents had told him not to tell anyone about him being a werewolf, so he didn't tell them that Rogue Werewolves had killed his parents. No one would have believed him anyway. His life changed forever. He lived with his Aunt Merissa, his mom's younger sister, and ever since that night, he vowed to look for the rogue Werewolves that killed his parents. He wanted to graduate from college first and when he finally did he got word that the leader of the rogue pack was in New Orleans. No one knew who it was, but that wasn't going to stop him from looking. It had been years, but he wasn't giving up. Besides, he had backup. He was the alpha of the avengers pack. The Werewolves whose family members were killed by rogue wolves. Every night he would hold a meeting and ask for progress. Turned out those rogue werewolves were smarter and trickier than they all thought. As for Gina, did she know that her ex-boyfriend was a werewolf? He didn't think so. All he knew was, that Dave wasn't good for someone like Gina. Scott could remember the times Gina would cry just because Dave left her without warning, no phone call, no text message nothing. Gina was heartbroken and torn apart. Scott admired her determination and strength. His feelings for her grew as the years went by but he couldn't say anything to her because he was scared of rejection and he feared that she was going to tell him that she only saw her as her PA and that was it. So he didn't bother or even try. Scott was in the woods and as always, his pack gathered and waited for him. They were usually silent when they gathered to talk but this time they were noisy something had happened, Scott wanted to know what it was. "What's wro—" he stopped in shock when he saw that his pack was gathered around a dead man, a dead werewolf. His shock turned to fury. "You guys made a kill without me? Victor, what is the meaning of this?" Victor Santiago, twenty-five with long dark hair and a muscular build stepped forward. "It's not what it looks like Scott." He said. "He was part of the rogue pack. Julie and I overheard him talking about meeting the leader of another wolf. Unluckily for us when we ambushed them the other wolf managed to escape. We got this one, tied him up, put him in a van and we took him to the cabin to interrogate him." He looked at Julie Robert and she sighed. "When we realized he wasn't going to talk." Julie started. "Scott and I walked outside to discuss what to do to be able to get him talking. We put torture into consideration and when we went back into the cabin he was dead." Scott looked at them in disbelief, at first he didn't understand how they'd leave a live, breathing werewolf just to go back and he was dead and then it hit him, he finally understood. "He killed himself." "There was a silver knife in the cabin, he took it and slit his throat with it," Victor said with a sigh. Scott did the same, he put his hands on his waist and he looked down at the dead i***t that decided to take his life just to protect a pack led by someone who cared about nothing but power. Scott shook his head. How are these people so powerful? He thought. It wasn't going to stop him, he wasn't going to give up. "Okay!" Scott said. "At least now we know for sure these hooligans are here in New Orleans. Let's just hope they don't leave because now that that guy who escaped knows there are people after them he's going to tell his leader. But still, I doubt they'd do that anyway. They rather expect us than to run from us so we have to be vigilant." He turned to Julie and Victor. "Keep your eyes out on that guy who escaped." They both nodded and he turned to the rest. "Meeting dismissed, and please make sure to get rid of this body smartly." He walked away and they all continued murmuring. "Hey, Scott!" Scott turned around to meet Liam Xavier, the youngest of the pack, he was nineteen. Brown curly hair, and green eyes and he might be playful but when it came to avenging his dad's death he didn't play. At this point, Scott knew he was going to say something stupid or ask a stupid question. With that smile on his face, Scott knew. "How are you?" He still had the smile on. Scott squinted his eyes and folded his arms. "I'm good? You?" "Great, great. . . Uhm. How's Gina?" He wiggled his eyebrows. Scott rolled his eyes and walked away. "Wait, wait wait!" He stood in Scott's way. "I'm just looking out for you man." "What you should be looking out for are the ones that killed your dad, not my love life." When Liam's expression changed to sadness Scott knew he had gone too far. He shouldn't have brought up his dad and Scott should have put into consideration that Scott was still so young. Scott sighed. "Look I appreciate you're looking out for me, but honestly I don't need it. Besides, Gina sees me as her personal assistant, I don't think she would ever look at me that way." Scott was surprised about how disappointed Liam was. He wasn't the only one interested in his love life Victor and Julie had both asked him if he had made a move on her yet. It was his fault for telling Julie about his feelings for Gina, then she told Victor and somehow Liam managed to know. He wouldn't be surprised if the whole pack knew. They all just wanted to see him happy. He wanted to see them happy as well. The only way that could truly happen is if they got rid of the rogue pack once and for all. Scott placed a hand on his shoulder. "Stay safe buddy." "Okay, goodnight." He walked away. Scott found it funny that during the day he was someone's personal assistant and at night he was the boss, a leader, the alpha. He got into his car and before he could leave that area he sighed and his hand went through his spikey black hair. He knew it wasn't healthy but every time he got back home he would stalk Gina on **. All her posts were filled with life. Sometimes she would travel abroad just to be by herself. Scott thought she deserved better than Dave. Dave wasn't the one for her, but did he think he was the one for her? Every time he felt like telling her about his feelings he would chicken out. Thank God his pack hadn't seen that weak and vulnerable side of him. He started his car and drove off. He got into his small apartment turned on the light and went straight to his room. He had his phone but this time he wasn't going to ** to look at his crush's pics. He was having flashbacks of the time his mom would read him bedtime stories. One of his favorites was Alice's adventures in wonderland. He found it funny that a kid's book was the one to assure him that the impossible was possible and that the supernatural world existed. He was told at such a young age that once he turned fourteen he would be able to shapeshift into a beast. He thought it was cool but when he went through that process for the first time it was excruciatingly painful. At least his Aunt Merissa was there for him. He wasn't going to stop until justice was served. He was going to make sure they all suffered, he was going to make sure they all hurt just like he did. He was going to make sure they all paid for their wickedness.
