CHAPTER TWELVE THE FIRE AT THEIR FEET flickered for a few moments and then caught hold, flaring brightly. Pleasance felt her eyes go wide as Alf told her what he had planned. “That will make a lot of noise. I thought we were trying to sneak up on them.” “They positioned the kids in the very center of the campsite with guards all around the perimeter. There’s no way we can sneak up on them. Our only chance is to draw them off.” She sighed, still not convinced. “Okay, once you throw those things in, how much time will we have?” “A couple of minutes. I’m more concerned about them seeing smoke from this fire. The wind is carrying it downstream right now but if it changes they’ll know somebody’s here pretty fast.” “Okay.
