CHAPTER SIX THE GIRL WAS STUBBORN. He’d give her that. If he didn’t really enjoy the challenge of breaking her she’d probably already be dead. “Last time, Lei. Where’s the gold hidden?” She hung from a nail bolted into the roof, heavy metal chain wrapped tightly around her slender wrists. Her hot pink painted toenails scratched the urine-puddled floor whenever he hit her. She was little more than skin and bones, probably only about ninety pounds soaking wet, but hitting her was like hitting a bag filled with brittle sticks. It was a wonder she hadn’t already passed out from the pain. Her once pretty face was a mass of purple bruises, swollen and split from his fist. Fresh blood ran from her split lip and a dried trail of it crusted the left side of her swollen face. But still she refused
