The Beginning
Alana was born the daughter of the beta of the Horizon Moon pack, and from the age of five was told she had an amazing future ahead of herself. When you're a young wolf, the elders of the pack will go to the temples of the goddess to discover who the mates of that generation will be. Some, like Alana, will be blessed to learn their mate is in the same pack as them, while others will learn they will be mated outside their territory. For many, this takes the excitement of life to know who they will marry or be with for the rest of the time. There is no dating in high school or making a mistake with the wrong one because fate has already aligned you with the perfect person to spend your lifetime. For Alana, at least it wasn't barbaric like kings trading their children for more wealth and power, although she felt like something was missing. She is fated to be married to one of the Alpha's twin sons, and since only Ian is around, that's the one. When twins are born to an Alpha, they are not raised together for safety, nor is it even public knowledge that there are two sons. This ensures the line if something happens to the other one. So, at the age of 10, Alana began her training to become Luna to Ian, who would be Alpha. The two were best friends growing up and had a strong bond. Neither of them saw what their futures would hold, though. They believed this was a fairy tale, and they were meant to marry their best friends oneday. It wasn't until high school that they both felt something was off with their destiny. They didn't share these feeling with each other, believing they were just being dramatic. There were definitely signs, though, their friends having such immense contentions to their mates they could feel their feelings through the bond. Alana never felt Ian's feelings. She didn't feel connected, but you can not question the moon goddesses' words. She created mates for the wolves, and she created destinies for them, so how could she ever be wrong? This idea haunted Ian and Alana as they courted through high school, still seemingly as best friends. Neither of them knowing that their futures aren't as fairy tailish as they hope.
