Chapter Eight

Gabriel’s P.O.V

I was surprised to see the arrival of Cynthia. She was the alpha’s daughter of our neighbouring pack Crescent Moon. Her father and I had talked at length about her being my chosen mate if I didn’t find mine by the time I was 25 which was this year. It was going to be hard to break the news to her, she’s a bit obsessed with me.

“You better tell her before our Lily sees her and she better not touch us or I’ll rip her to shreds.” Ace growled.

“You will do no such thing. We need to be gentle about it, we don’t want to upset her or her father in the process.”

“Whatever.”

She spent the day hanging all over me which was pretty annoying but I didn’t want to potentially start a war between our packs.

I was sad when I hadn’t seen Lily all day. I caught her scent at dinner from the kitchen and when I went to get up to go see her using the excuse I was going to get some wine Cynthia basically demanded I let her go.

I’ll have to find Lily and explain everything to her before she sees anything and jumps to conclusions.

It was after dinner and I managed to sneak away from Cynthia. I went to the kitchen but she wasn’t there. I saw Agnes who gave me a disapproving look and told me that Lily left already.

I started to panic. I ran out of the door and to her cottage. All the lights were off and the door was locked. I started knocking hard on the door ready to break it down.

“I told you! You f*cked this up! If she rejects us because of this I will never forgive you!”

“I’ll explain everything to her! It will be fine!”

“You better hope so or so help me I will make your life a living hell.”

A very sleepy Lily answered the door with just a T-shirt. Her beautiful long legs were on display for me and I had to stop myself from taking her right here and now.

“What on earth is the problem?” She asked grumpily. She obviously didn’t appreciate being woken up so abruptly.

“I need to talk to you, please.”

“No, that’s okay. I already saw you with her. I don’t need you to tell me that you lied. Why? I don’t know but it’s fine. I’m over it.” She said with her chin turned up then tried to close the door on me.

I quickly grabbed it before she could slam it in my face.

“Lily please! Just hear me out! It’s not like that at all.”

“Then what is it like? Because I definitely saw her all over you and kiss you. That seemed like enough of an explanation to me!” She snapped.

“Can I please come in? I’ll explain everything.”

She stood back and let me pass. I turned and told her everything. She stood there for a moment with her arms crossed across her chest which was pulling her T-shirt up exposing more of her sexy legs.

“So what are you going to do about it? Because I’m sure you know that she will make a better mate than me. She is at least familiar with the roll of Luna. I am supposed to get my wolf tomorrow. We can reject each other and no one will need to know.”

I awoke with the most delicious feeling. My body was still humming after last night. Gabriel was amazing and the way he made me feel last night sent butterflies going through my stomach.

“Hello, Lilliana.” I heard a voice in my head say.

“Hello, are you my wolf?” I asked excitedly.

“Indeed I am, my name is Freya.”

“It’s lovely to meet you! I can’t wait until I can see your form.”

“You will see later today. You are in for a lovely surprise.”

I got up from bed and showered before putting on some jeans and a T-shirt and making my way to the pack house to help with breakfast. As I was about to go through the door I caught the most delightful scent. I turned to see Gabriel coming towards me.

“MATE!” Freya shouted.

I smiled at him as he quickly grabbed me into a hug sending sparks shooting through my body. I gasped at the sensation. It was magnificent! He leaned down and gave me a heart stopping kiss.

“Happy birthday my gorgeous mate!” He said as he peppered my face in kisses.

Giggling I kissed him back then broke free. I still needed to help with breakfast!

“Wait! Did you get your wolf?” He asked.

“I did! Her name is Freya.” I said smiling.

“Freya..” He rolled the name from his tongue.

Freya purred at hearing our mate say her name.

“Okay, I’ll see you after breakfast!” I said as I kissed his cheek and quickly ran to the kitchen.

Agnes seemed surprised to see me this morning.

“Happy birthday sweet heart but why are you here today?” She asked.

“I wouldn’t miss being here for the world! This is my happy place and there’s no where else I would rather spend my birthday.” I beamed.

She chuckled and gave me a quick hug before we got to work.

As we were finishing up breakfast the Barbie came into the kitchen.

“You, cook. You need to cook me some egg whites and I need gluten free toast with it as well. I also need fresh squeezed orange juice, I can’t drink the bottled garbage.” She says as she snaps her fingers at Agnes.

Agnes didn’t say anything, she just nodded and I rolled my eyes. Some people are so entitled.

“Did you just roll your eyes at me?!” She snapped.

Uh oh. I didn’t mean for her to see.

“No. I wasn’t even paying attention, sorry.” I quickly said.

She stormed over to me in her ungodly high heels. “You lying b*tch! You did roll your eyes at me!”

“I can assure you I didn’t.” I said as I turned to walk away. She quickly grabbed my arm and yanked me back.

I could feel Freya becoming angry.

“It’s okay, I’ve got in under control.” I said in hopes to calm her down.

“You better have, or I will rip her stupid blonde head clear off her body.” She seethed.

“Please let go of me. It was a misunderstanding.”

She was about to raise her hand to hit me when I smelled Gabriel’s alluring aroma fill my nostrils which very quickly began to calm Freya.

“What is going on in here?” Gabriel’s voice boomed.

The stupid Barbie quickly released me and ran to him and threw her arms around him crying that I assaulted her and was being rude.

I couldn’t even respond because suddenly I had no control over myself.

“Get your filthy wh*re hands off my f*cking mate!” I heard Freya snarl.

The Barbie’s eyes went wide as she looked at Gabriel who was starring at me. Oh goddess. This isn’t good!

“Excuse me?!” She screeched. “YOUR MATE?!”

“You heard me you pathetic blonde bimbo. You better get your filthy paws off what is mine before I remove them myself!” Freya said through clenched teeth as she slowly started walking towards the pair.

Gabriel put his hands up and removed Cynthia’s hands from him. He walked to me and wrapped me in his arms. Freya instantly relaxed.

“Hello, Freya, it’s lovely to meet you but please let me have my Lily back.” He murmured in my ear.

Freya reluctantly gave control back over to me. My face flushed in embarrassment. I couldn’t even control my own wolf.

“You and I both know the little b*tch deserved it” Freya huffed.

“You didn’t need to be so feisty!”

“Feisty?” She laughed. “I could have been much worse, you’re lucky I remained calm about it.”
