"Who the hell is this man?" I ask myself. I could hear my wolf purring in contentment as I throw an oversize hoodie and a pair of leggings on. I need to get out of here. As I'm walking out of my closet, I trip over my mother's foot. Finding my balance, I look down at my mother's body as her blood pools around her.
"I'm sorry momma. I should've been here. I could've done something." I whisper to her. Maybe if I was here, I could've stopped him. I could've jumped in the way. My vision becomes blurry as an uncontrollable sob falls from my parted lips. The door opens pulling me out of my head. From the smell alone, I know it's him. This man...My mate killed my mother. He just left her laying on my bedroom floor. He's a monster. My wolf growls at the distance between us.
"Look what you've done. This is my f*****g mother." I spat at him not even turning in his direction. He stays silent not moving from the doorway. "She is my mother. And you left her laying here. Just laying here." My stomach churns again, the smell of blood fills my nostrils. I could feel the rest of my lunch coming up. "Where is my dad?" I ask, finally turning in his direction. He looks as if he's having an internal fight. "Where is he?" I press again after he doesn't answer me.
"Downstairs." That was all he said as he steps aside so that I walk past him. I run past him wasting no time. As soon as I get downstairs, I try to sniff out his scent but there are too many unfamiliar scents here, I just cannot point his out. Looking around the living room, I don't see him. Walking towards the kitchen, I could hear my wolf let out a whimper. Right as I step through the threshold, I see my dad tied to a chair with rope. There are more than twenty wolves standing around laughing. What the hell is wrong with these people. It's like they get off on killing people's families.
As I take a step into the kitchen, all eyes focus on me the laughter stops. The unknown wolves bow their heads in submission, showing their necks. What the hell is going on? Hesitating as I take another step, I watch as no one moves to stop me. Quicking my pace, I finally reach my dad. The smell of sliver burns my nostrils.
"Maya, are you okay? Where is your mother? My wolf cannot feel her's." He looks me up and down, panic clear on his face. My lips quiver before a sob escapes my lips.
"Mom's gone." I go to lean into him but two hands pull me back. A growl erupts from the kitchen threshold.
"Sorry Alpha. Sorry, Luna, I didn't want you to burn yourself on the silver." One of the wolves meekly points out.
Did he just call me Luna?
"Take it off of him." The man that's apparently their Alpha orders. My dad just looks as if he's in shock.
"Maya, where is your mother?" My father asks again.
"Sh...she's." I can't seem to get the words out. The words are caught in my throat.
"She's dead." My mate finishes what I couldn't get out.
