After seeing the friends that I grew up with, meeting their mates, and beginning to go together, I always hoped that I would be like them. I always hoped that I would have an amazing story to tell when I finally met my soul mate. And here my ass is sitting in a cell that my "mate" threw me into.
Something is crawling up my arm and I cannot slap my arm fast enough. It's so dark. There are no windows in this place. I don't know if it's night yet.
It smells of blood and musk in here. I can hear the groans of other prisoners but they're distant, letting me know that I'm alone in this section of the prison. I guess his wolf was okay with putting me down here as long as I wasn't near any males. Even his wolf's a d**k.
We arrived at his pack a few hours ago. My eyes were glued to the huge building in the distance. I can only see the top of the building, peeking over the trees. My father was nowhere in sight. It was just Leo and me. Everything in me wanted to scream for help. But after what happened in the car, I was afraid of what he might do to me next.
He hurt me. My own mate laid his hand on me with the intent of harm.
I've never heard of someone being able to physically harm their mate. On purpose anyway. It's unusual. But here I am. The mate whose mate beats her to prove his point.
When he pulled me out of the car, he pulled my jacket down to cover my exposed ass and tossed me over his shoulder. Not saying a word, he brought me here dropped me in a cell, and left. Not saying a word to me. He just turned and walked away.
What kind of alpha brings their mate into a place like this?
Just thinking of his name makes my wolf purr. 'Do you see where he put us?' I thought. My stomach growls. I don't remember the last time I ate. I know that I will not be getting anything to eat for a while.
I want my mom more than anything right now. She always knew what to say to make me feel better. She would take me into her arms and hold me. I wonder what would she say to me right now?
She'll probably tell me to run at the first chance that I got. Or at least that's what I would hope that she'll say to me right now. But if I'm being honest with myself, she'll say something about giving him a chance.
My mother was always the hopeful type. She always saw the good side of people.
My stomach makes whale noises pulling me out of my thoughts. A liquid drops onto my hand. My eyes are blurry as try to look for the source. It's me. I'm crying. Sniffling, I have to stop crying. This man does not get to see me cry. He doesn't deserve to see how I feel. He has done nothing but hurt me and the ones I love since I met him.
I could hear footsteps coming in this direction. I stare straight ahead as the sound of footsteps gets louder.
Somewhere inside of me, I'm hoping that it's him. I'm gonna blame it on the mate pull and not me just wanting to see him again.
Oh Goddess, I'm going crazy already. Wanting to see the man that just beat me like I was a random rouge that strolled through his territory. Not his mate that his wolf has been searching years for.
The footsteps come to a halt just outside my cell. The sweet scent and how my wolf reacts to their presence alone let me know that it was Leo.
I do not dare to acknowledge his presence. I won't allow his presence to affect me as much as he knows our bond would.
I stay still, sitting with my legs crossed with my back against the wall in the same way I've been since he tossed me here and walked away. I could feel his eyes on me. It's almost as if he's trying to read my mind.
The tension between us is thick. Neither one of us says a word. He just stares as I sit quietly ignoring his presence. Or at least trying to anyway. My body wants me to run to my cell door and beg him to take me with him and hold me. Yet my mind tells my body no, reminding me of what all this man has done to me within the last twenty-four hours of me knowing him.
It feels like he's there for hours when it's been twenty minutes. With a huff in frustration, he begins to head back in the direction he came from. I listen to his footsteps echo through the empty corridor, releasing a shaky breath as he retreats.
My stomach grumbles loudly and at that second I hear his footsteps come to a halt.
I hold my breath hoping deep down that he would come and take me out of this place, find the error in his ways, feed me, shower me with love, and beg for my forgiveness. But that's just a daydream that I wish would come true.
He stays still for another minute before his footsteps continue retreating.
