Chapter 17 Callie's POV... Bing Bing! I was startled awake by my clock. I looked at the time, 8:30am. Xander came last night telling me he was going to pick me up at 7:00pm and that I could wear whatever I wanted. I got up and put on some jeans and an autumn sweater. I rushed down stairs unnoticed and went to the kitchen to get something to eat. I walked in and made breakfast for Evan, Rose, Jake, Helena and, of course, Xander and me. After the pancakes were done I put them on a plate, I cut some fruit and made orange juice. I carried the plates to the table. I ran back to where the rooms were and knocked on Evan and Rose's room then I went to Helena's room. Since I didn't know where Xander's room was I decided to hope and get lucky. Rose, Evan, Helena and Jake were sitting at the table. When they noticed me they smiled. "Did you make this?" asked Rose confused. I nodded and the door behind me opened and Xander came in with... Scott?! I stood there agape. What was my brother doing here?! I stood there staring at him and didn't realize he was talking to me. "Cal, Callie?" I shook my head trying to clear my thoughts, "sorry. What are you doing here?" He smiled, "I came to get you, after James was killed you were gone and I tracked you down all the way here." I hesitated. So he didn't know Xander was the one that killed James? That meant he didn't know who Xander was. "Oh, I'm sorry Scott but I can't leave with you." He looked hurt, "but why? Don't you miss mom and dad, how it all used to be? I understand if you're worried about school since you didn't finish but don't worry, we'll get you a tutor-" I looked directly at his eyes, "Scott I'm not leaving I'm sorry. Yeah I miss mom and dad but my mate is here and I can finish high school anywhere I'm not worried about that." "Cal, James is dead," he said confused not understanding who I was referring to. "I know that, but that day I was rescued by my other mate," I said sheepishly. "You have two mates?" he asked with wide eyes. "I had two mates, I only have one now," I clarified and stared at my brother, pleading with my for him to understand. "Was it that wolf, the black one?" he asked almost growling. "Yes, that's my mate," I said and Scott growled almost out of control. Xander pushed me behind him and growled back. Realization crossed Scott. "You killed our Alpha," it wasn't a question, it was a fact; "you killed him!" Xander growled back, louder, "Only because I had to. He was going to take my mate from me." Scott stepped closer and Xander grew stiffer. I managed to sidestep his body and stand between them. "Stop it, both of you! I don't want you guys to start an argument, I'm already getting sick of male behavior," I looked at my brother sternly, "Scott, I didn't want to be with James and when I met Xander I knew he was the right one for me. Yes, I know he killed James but it had to be done or else he wouldn't let me go. Xander," I said turning to look at my mate, "you don't have to protect me from him, he's my brother. He would never hurt me." The two guys glared at each other but didn't try push me aside and rip each other apart. Finally, Scott sighed and nodded his head in understanding and Xander relaxed. He pulled me close and sniffed my hair so my scent would calm down his wolf. I looked at Scott. He was a little tense and wary, looking at how Xander was holding me. Who could blame him? He didn't know Xander and couldn't trust him because of that. Xander let go of me and I walked to Scott. I hugged him tightly and let the tears I'd been holding drop. I had missed my brother. Although we sometimes fought I knew he always had my back. "I've missed you Scott," I said. "I've missed you too little sis," he said hugging me tighter. Helena cleared her throat loudly. All eyes were on her and her frown. "Can we eat now? I'm starving." I laughed and Xander waited until I was seated and pushed my chair towards the table. Such a gentleman. We started eating and let things flow. The Royal Pack wolves asked questions, curious about how normal pack life was while Rose and I would share looks across the table. Scott's POV... After the little argument between Xander and me, I watched as Xander pulled my sister close and inhaled her scent. It stung a little, that my sister was happy with this guy and I had no one, no mate, or at least not yet. I still didn't trust Xander, not even a little, but I trusted my sister and I knew she would be very happy with him, he made her happy and that's all I could hope for. After Xander let her go she walked over to me and hugged me like the world was going to end. I missed her. Her crazy personality, her aggressive side when you did something to her or to someone close to her, and mostly, for just being my sister. "I've missed you Scott," she said. "I've missed you too little sis," I said, and I really did. The whole pack did but once I got back and told them about what I had learnt they'd have to accept it and move on. Now that Cal was close I realized her scent was still the same, she was still unmated. I knew how males think so I knew that taking things slow was probably Cal's idea. Suddenly, someone cleared their throat. All eyes fell on a brunette with hazel eyes, she was frowning. She looked tough and was dressed in all black. Huh, strange. "Can we eat now? I'm starving," she said. Cal laughed and Xander pushed her seat in like a gentleman should do, like I will do when I find my mate. It was obvious how much my sister and Xander cared for each other not even someone blind could mistaken their love for something else, except maybe them. We started eating and the Royal Pack wolves asked a lot of questions. I guess they do not live like a normal pack if they're that curious about how normal pack life is. I could see from the corner of my eye Callie and a blonde sharing looks. The blonde female looked a bit familiar but I couldn't understand why. I couldn't help but blurt out, "have we met before?" The question was directed to the blonde and her eyes widened as she shook her head quickly. "Scott, this is Rose Mason, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mason back at the pack, Ana's younger sister," answered Callie. My eyes widened, "oh I'm terribly sorry for asking." She smiled warmly, "it's okay." Even though she forgave me I still felt guilty, "I'm Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack now, if you'd like you can go visit your parents tomorrow." "Alpha?!" blurted Cal out while Rose said, "tomorrow?" I looked at Callie, "who did you think was going to take over from James?" She shrugged and kept eating and I turned to Rose, "yes tomorrow night, that's when I'll be leaving." The guy next to her, Evan, growled at me, "she's not going anywhere with you." I could understand his wariness, he thought I wanted to take Rose from him, "I'm not here to take her from you Duke Evan, she'll just go to see her parents, you're welcome to come too if you'd like." Evan relaxed at my invitation but still eyed me closely. "Please Evan. Can we go see my parents? I haven't seen them in a long time and I want you to meet them." Evan's eyes softened as he looked at Rose, he turned back to me and nodded, "we'll go," he turned to Xander, "but only for two days tops because I can't be out long." Rose cheered and Xander looked at Evan, "you can go for as long as you'd like, Evan, I can manage. Besides, Callie can help me around." My sister's eyes brightened with excitement, "really?!" Xander laughed at her eagerness, "Yes, really." As the girls cheered happily, Evan and Xander shared a look. They both nodded and turned to me. "We have to talk to you, alone." I nodded, "now?" They nodded, "yes." I sighed and got up, "lead the way." The four of us, Xander, Evan, the brunette's mate and me walked out and into another room. It didn't just look like an office, it was one. Xander took his place on one couch, Evan next to him and the other guy and I sat across from them on another couch, Xander was the last one to sit down. "What's wrong?" I asked. "We've been getting threats and declarations of war from the Blood Moon Pack," explained Xander. My hands were closed into fist and they tightened until I was sure my knuckles were white. "We only wanted to inform you because your sister is here and we know you worry about her," continued Xander. "What do you have planned for when they come?" I asked tightly. "Right now we're just staying alert on patrols and we have training scheduled today. But if or when they come, we'll just fight back and hope for the best," said Evan. I stared at them, hope for the best?! They had to be kidding. "You're the strongest pack there is. This is a kingdom for god's sake. You have to have some sort of plan besides 'hope for the best'," I growled. Evan glared at me. I was getting the idea that he didn't like me very much. "This is the King of wolves you're talking to, show some respect," he spat back at me and Xander put a hand on his shoulder, "it's quite all right Evan, calm down." Evan nodded but kept on glaring at me. "Yes I know my kingdom is big and strong but the Blood Moon Pack isn't really just a pack, they're a kingdom of rouges. There are many rouges and they all go to that pack because it's strong and lethal with only one objective, to rule everything and everyone. They will fight with everything they've got. To them it's kill or be killed," said Xander. "What do you think Jake?" asked Evan. The guy next to me, Jake, looked at Evan, "my team and I have been tracking their movements. If they so much set a paw out of their territory, we'll know." "Then it's settled, not a word we've said here gets out. Whatever is said here stays here," ordered Xander in his King voice that not even I could defy. Evan and Jake walked out but I stayed behind. "Is there something else you'd like to talk about Alpha Scott?" asked Xander confused. "Yes, it's time to pull the big brother card out," I said and saw Xander flinch a little and gulp. Good, let him be a little afraid. "I want you to know that if you so much as let a tear drop from one of my sister's eyes I'll hunt you down like a wolf hunts his meal. You got that?" Xander growled a little at my lack of respect but nodded stiffly. I opened the door and when I was about to walk out Xander stopped me, "I would never let that happen and I'll fight for her, I don't care if you're her brother, she's my mate," growled Xander. "Good to know," was all I said as I walked away.
