55 George When George Tobias got home after 9:00 PM, he found Bridgett in bed with the lights out. Just about to creep downstairs, he heard her stir. “Is that you, George?” she asked in a nasal tone. He heard sniffles and the murmur of bedding as she leaned toward the doorway where he stood. “Sounds like you have a cold,” he said. “That’s why I’m in bed, but I can’t fall asleep.
