44 Evers Evers couldn’t touch down at Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci airport soon enough. No jet lag nor sparse, interrupted sleep from an early departure or the excitement of the trip, could subdue his burst of energy. This was the trip of a lifetime. He was scheduled for a private audience with the Pope. Monsignor Giuseppe had not only arranged the rendezvous, but readjusted his own schedule to be at the Vatican during this period to assure Evers and Mary Catherine the royal treatment generous and exemplary parishioners merited.
