Unnecessary worry

“Speak of the devil- I never thought that he would really come and find him.” I whispered softly to Freya who was fairly surprised about Lucio’s appearance. “How did he know where to exactly find the guy when we almost spent the entire afternoon asking the staff when we did not see him on the list of people staying in the dorms.” She whispered back as a couple of people interested of what is about to happen came rushing in briefly after Lucio’s appearance. ‘How did they know where to find Lucio? Did they spread the news before coming here? Or did they followed behind his back while coming here?’ I thought as I saw the increasing amount of people coming from all the directions. I even saw some underlings of the other leaders who seems interested in what was about to happen.

               The others and I immediately rushed to where the video was taken yesterday since the rumors said that Lucio and his gang found out that that guy is taking that route. We arrived at the scene which was not so difficult to spot since there are so many people interested as well besides us. “Phew! I thought the rumors were wrong but it turns out that it was true after all.” Another one sigh in relief as we catch our breath after running non-stop once we heard the rumor.  “Wow! Look at this people coming here and there are still others walking towards here as well.” Kyle, the man beside me exclaimed after seeing the increasing number of people. ‘Looks like our classmate is an instant celebrity huh?’ I thought with a slightly concerned expression.

               ‘Is this the guy who they lost to? He looks tiny in real life- I can’t believe both of them lost to him in a fight when they are quite capable fighters on their own.’ I thought to myself after seeing his little figure just a few paces away from me. He looks unusual to the point that he is spooky, long hair, huge bags under his eyes, frail posture, and an indifferent expression. He looked like he didn’t really care when I cut in and introduced myself earlier, I went through so much trouble just to get a hold of this guy’s information- to think that he lives in a different place from us other students. ‘If he lives in a different place than the others, doesn’t that make him special? And if I touch him now- maybe the staff or worse- the principal himself will get angry and that would be dangerous since the word might reach my father’s ears. It would be safe to recruit him rather than beating him up.’ I thought to myself as I clench my fist in anger. ‘I want to punch him so hard.’

               ‘Hmmm- so he is the guy that the girls wanted to warn me for. He doesn’t look that amazing- but he is quite fit for someone his age. Maybe he works out? But if he does then it might be connected to his special ability.’ I thought as I look at him indifferently. It looked like they are going to just stare at me so I decided to break the ice and asked him. “What do you want?” in a rather bored tone. The people behind him immediately reacted with their furious expression saying that I should be more respectful towards him but he stopped them for unknown reasons and then he asked. “I am the leader of the Northern side, in short I am the leader of every student in the northern dorms and that includes you.” He said with a calm but cocky expression but I just stood there without a clue as to what he declared himself to. I tilted my head with a confused expression. ‘Huh? Was there a voting that I did not get informed? Is this a new system that the new principal had created for the students’ hierarchy?’ I thought after hearing what he said while I still can’t believe that such a system exist so I speak my mind. “Huh? I didn’t know that there is a system like that, was there a voting process that I was not aware of?”

               Unexpectedly the scene got unnaturally silent as they stare at me with blank and annoyed expression then I look around and saw some familiar faces holding off their laughter after hearing what I said. “Did I say something wrong?” I immediately asked which seemed to have angered the people behind him even more but for some reason he keeps holding them off from doing some horrible things to me. “Hey you bastard! Do you live under a rock or something? This is how the world works- the strong rules while the weak follows.” One of the people behind him said with an angry tone. “Eh? Then why are you following him? Are you weak?” I retorted with an indifferent expression. The faces of the people behind him redden in anger after hearing what I said. ‘They seem to have taken it hard so it must be true.’ I thought after seeing their reactions.

               ‘I can’t believe this guy is oblivious. To think that he would anger Lucio’s underlings- well, they quite picked the wrong words to say and somehow this guy found a weakness and struck it hard, it must have hurt their pride after calling them weak.’ I told myself after seeing the hilarious scene uphold in front of me. I can see that Lucio is barely holding off his anger towards the guy in front of us as he holds off his underlings from beating the guy up. He then silenced his underlings and walks near the guy offering him to join his ranks. “I know my boys have done something that is not appropriate so I disciplined them. How about you join me and rule over the students on the Northern side?” he offered as he extends his hands but oddly enough Rain just stare at him without any change in his expression and utterly declined his offer without any second thoughts. “Rule over? The principal did not mention something like this to exist inside Olympus, do you want power that much? The reason we are enrolled here is to become fit for society and such thoughts and thirst for power to rule over others will just abolish the reason we are here in the first place.” He replied as he declined Lucio’s offer.

               ‘Looks like negotiations flopped, to think that such a person sticks to the rules like glue. Then I have no reason to hold the others back.’ I told myself as I stopped holding the others back. “Rain- if you think like that then I will not be the last one that will try to get in your way.” I said as one of my men sprinted towards him as Rain handed his bag to the girls behind him saying. “Can you hold this thing again for me?”

               *BAM!*

               A loud explosion traveled across the area as the mist of dust covered the entire area where Rain used to stand then all of the sudden a silhouette, a figure leaped out of the cloud of dust and landed to the place where the fight took place, it was Rain and he did not look like he got any damage from Lucio’s underling. “You are quite talented but do you have what it takes to fight against all of us?” Lucio asked as he spread his arms and reveals the number of students under his wing standing behind him.

               “Teacher Van- did you hear? Lucio Fox and his underlings seemed to have been searching for a student.” My colleague said with a concerned tone as I was busy writing my lessons for tomorrow but somehow piqued my interest so I started asking him about the details. “Hmmm, is that the hierarchy that some of the students decided to make?” I asked Ryan who was worried that there would be a scandal inside Olympus during his term. Ryan is a fellow teacher who is a little tipsy and would always put others before himself. “Yes, he is called the leader of the Northern side of Olympus. There are other three persons beside him who rules the other sides as well, there was a video circulating you see? And it looks like his underlings are involved- that must be the reason why he is searching for that student.” He replied with an even more worried tone. “Eh? I have not seen that video yet- by the way, who is the student that he and his gang is looking for?” I asked with a little bit of interest so that he might not get bummed out. “Rain Ambro- a no name who is almost non-existent.” He replied immediately. A faint smile cracked on my face after I heard uncle’s name getting mentioned. “Is that so?” I replied with an uninterested tone as I indulge myself on my work. I saw a glimpse of Ryan’s expression after what I said, it was horrible he was on the verge of tears after hearing my uninterested tone and jumped on me. “Aren’t you concerned!? A student’s life is in danger you know?!” he yelled. Well, this was expected I was kind of a d*ck. “Don’t worry about it, if he was the student that they are searching for then the problem is almost solved, and the principal will surely not put a blind eye on this matter if that student gets involved in something like this.” I assured him. ‘After all- there is no way that the Lone Wolf of Olympus would lose to some students who have only acquired their ability just a few months ago.’ I thought to myself as I let out a creepy chuckle. “I just hope that they don’t get too beaten up to show up in class or else I will beat them up myself.” I added with a grim tone as I speed up my pace so that I could get a glance of the fight myself and left Ryan clueless and confused.

               “Impossible- how did he- there’s no way he took down almost half of Lucio’s underlings in just a few minutes.” I exclaimed after rubbing my eyes after seeing what happened. ‘I can’t believe I just saw something like this.’ I thought as I backed off a few feet away and bumped on Tim who was watching behind us as well. “Is this supposed to be a fight? It looks like a one-sided beat down.” He said with a completely shocked expression. ‘Well, I can’t really blame him. If you ever saw your classmate who is almost non-existent in your class beating down capable fighters from a gang that was supposed to rule this part of Olympus how would you react?’ I thought to myself as I share the same reaction as Tim.
