The Rightful Luna

Eva's POV. The thought of it saddened me, it was angering how there had to always be an obstacle against us, especially me. Obstacles that are mostly caused because of me. There was nothing stopping Alpha Trent from being with me but there are a lot of factors and people that would stop me from being with him. Firstly his family, they had never liked me and Hannah who I thought was supportive of me was indirectly opposing our relationship. His family were the most important people and could influence his decisions. I had no one to support me, I was all alone. Just when life was smiling at me, reality landed a slap on my face. It was time to wake up from my daydream. "I love your choices for your son and the sort of lady you chose; you want Alpha Trent to be with but have you forgotten about the moon goddess granting him a mate, what if his true mate is nothing like anything you had described" I asked cautiously to not arouse any suspicion. She looked dumbfounded for a while. "Trent is over twenty five in his human age, he doesn't expect to find a mate at this age. A mate is given between eighteen and twenty five and Trent is getting younger" Hannah replied and scooped the vegetable into a bowl. I was yearning to shout to everyone's hearing that they were all staring at Alpha's Trent mate but I had to keep silent about it. It made my heart ache when I had to keep my identity a secret. Even though it was a wrong thing, it was one of the best decisions I have made. I wasn't ready to be a Luna or warrior yet, therefore keeping my identity concealed was the best. "And if his mate was a low class girl then I would not reject her but groom her into becoming a fine Luna like I was in my days" Hannah muttered. Her words gladdened my very soul.it was unexpected and surprising that she would give such a response to me. It made a chuckle escape my lips, almost converting into squeals. "Really, you will accept as your daughter in law?" I questioned with a surprised face. "Why are you so surprised?" "It's the moon goddess's decision to make but I had always had a secret wish that she might bestow my son with the best mate who will bring more happiness and joy into his life" Hannah said, passionately. "I want the best for my son," She muttered. Tears welled up in my eyes as I listened to her speaking, her tone was warm and full of care and affection for her son. It was the kind of feeling that no one had for me including Alpha Trent. It was the love of a mother and I had none of that. At a young age, I had to fend for myself and work for my each meal that is; if I was granted any. That mother figure that I always sought to tuck and warm me in bed, to read me a bedtime story and kiss me goodnight. I remembered how I used to cry as a young one. I would be battered with beatings for disturbing the pack house with my loud tears. Later I learnt how to sob silently to avoid the beatings and insults but the hitting still persisted;it never stopped till after Alpha Trent saved me. My whole childhood was one filled and suffocated with so much despise and loathing. Everything bad was in my life be it pain, shame, sorrow, bitterness, assaults;the list was endless. "Eva, you are crying" Hannah muttered softly. "W–what?" I jerked out of my thoughts and asked in confusion. She pointed at my face and I touched my face and felt tears on my cheeks and my lips. I quickly wiped away my tears. "I wasn't crying, it must be the onions" I lied and forced a giggle. Hannah frowned. "I am not chopping any onions and you are truly crying. tell me what's wrong dear, I am here for you" The affection in my voice made me break into more tears. "Oh dear" She pulled into a warm hug and placed my head on her like a mother would do. I used to see Liam with his mom and he had always rubbed it in my face that I was without a mother. They would hug and kiss each other's cheeks but I had no one. His mother was the worst person to her. "Shush dear, you shouldn't cry because as long as you are in this pack and with us, you are safe" She patted my back and pecked my hair. I let my tears flow freely, we stayed in that position for some minutes before I got a grip on myself. I sniffed and wiped my snorting nostrils with the arm of my dress. That was so ladylike. She held my face gently and said. “This is a little hard phase in your life and it will pass before you even blink” I blinked rapidly but the phase was still happening. "I didn't mean it literally" Hannah laughed and I joined in. "You are so innocent Eva, you never deserved those pains they inflicted on you" She sighed and wiped away the remaining tears on my cheeks. Those comforting words from her extremely helped more than I imagined, it made me feel good like I had a motherly figure. We continued cooking and after she was done with her amazing cooking, I did almost nothing to assist her. She served it and we both sat down in the kitchen. I was still surprised by her humility and that was what many others lacked. She wasn't simply beautiful outwardly but also precious and priceless inside. The taste of the delicious food made my mouth water and I ate the food hungrily. "It's so good" I moaned in delight. "You shouldn't moan like that, there are unmated werewolves around" She cautioned with an endearing smile. I chuckled a bit and resumed eating, after I cleared the table and washed the dishes. I was curious about the whereabouts of the servants. "Hannah, do you have an idea where the servants are?" I inquired curiously. "I asked them to do something and the Head chef has been dismissed for a whole, I simply wanted to have the kitchen all to myself ' '' Hannah grinned. There was something exciting about her, she had no dull or depressed moments. It's amazing that I have had more smiles with her than even Alpha Trent. I was able to relate better with her and that was a good step to forming a friendship between us. "Eva , anytime you need a friend or mother;I will always be here for you" Hannah smiled. "Thanks Hannah" I replied and continued washing. After some time, the servants and the Head chef returned to the kitchen. "I have something to show you" She muttered and I followed her out. **** We walked upstairs and she complained about my dressing and promised to take me shopping one of these days. "Alpha Trent has got me clothes, this is…" I trailed off and licked my lips; I remembered the kiss. We finally stopped at a door and she unlocked it with a key. "Come in" Hannah smiled and walked in. I sauntered after her and when she switched on the lights, I was stunned to see a beautiful room that had many pink colors in it but it was gorgeous. "Wow, it's so beautiful" "Well, this is going to be your new room from today onwards, I hope you love it?" I found nothing wrong with my former room but it was better than the garbage I had in Liam's pack but now I had such a beautiful suite. The bed wasn't too large, it had two drawers beside it and a large wardrobe at the other corner. It was painted pink and the bed was pink too. "It was meant for Serena but she disliked it because of the color, so I ordered the maids to do a little retouch on it" Hannah told me with a charming beam. I strolled further into the room and my eyes became moist, this was too much for one day. First the outing then the kiss and now this. "Thank you so much, Hannah " I sniffed and went to hug her tightly. "It's always my pleasure, honey" ***** After transferring a few of my things from the room, Luna left me. I felt a little bored and I decided to go downstairs, maybe to the garden. I ran down the stairs and met with Beta Kyle, he had this funny smile on his face when he saw me. "Eva" He smiled and halted his steps. I skipped to him and greeted. "Hello, Beta Kyle" "Call me Kyle, you are making Beta sound like my last name" He said and I laughed out loudly. "Alright, Kyle" It was strange calling him by his name but it was also easy. "I need some company and you appeared, I feel so lonely in this place" I sighed. "I am here now to spend more time with you, no matter how jealous your Alpha is '" Beta Kyle said mockingly and it made me blush. Alpha Trent was jealous of the little friendship we had, I couldn't help chuckling at the thought. "Let's go to the garden" He wrapped his hand around me and I shivered a bit. It was nice that he considered me a friend but I didn't want him to touch me too much. Only Alpha Trent should do that or maybe I was simply overthinking things. "Aren't you supposed to be with Alpha Trent in a meeting?" "No, he doesn't need me there," Beta Kyle replied. "Tell me more about you Eva" Beta Kyle requested as we sauntered out of the house. "There is nothing much to know about me, I guess that you already know a lot of details already and that is basically my entire life. It's been full of suffering and unproductiveness" I rolled my eyes. He suddenly stopped on his tracks and his eyes widened in shock. "Beta Kyle" I called and he faced me. "What is it?" I questioned because the look on his face was worrying. I knew he had been mindlinked but he looked like he had seen a ghost. I was suddenly alarmed, Alpha Trent left in a hurry and in a bad mood, I hoped nothing happened to him because I would die if such occurred. He swallowed hard before giving me a response. "Alpha Liam is at the border" Beta Kyle said and I was shocked. "He said he is here to take me back," Beta Kyle added. I almost fainted on the spot.
