"I can't believe it," I muttered to myself as I paced in the dimly lit hallway. My hands were clenched into fists at my sides, my nails digging into my palms. "After everything… after everything I did to make sure Lena fell apart, she's still standing."
I was talking to Laura over the phone, and the bitterness in my voice was unmistakable.
"Are you sure? I mean, did they… leave her? Her alphas, I mean?" Laura’s voice crackled on the other end of the line, her disbelief cutting through the tension in my chest.
"No," I spat. "None of them left her. They’re still by her side. I thought they would crumble after the Valentine’s surprise, but no. She’s stronger than I thought. It doesn’t make any sense!"
