(Adrian’s POV).
I barely had time to breathe after Lucas left before Lena brought it up again.
“Kenny,” she said, her voice tight, “I still don’t understand what your problem with him is.”
I turned from where I stood by the window, jaw clenched. “Lena, we’ve already talked about this.”
“No, you shut it down. That’s not the same.” She crossed her arms. “You’re usually so calm and... collected. But you practically growled at him like a rabid dog. Why?”
“I said drop it.”
Her eyes narrowed. “You’re being controlled.”
I let out a sharp exhale, biting down on the words I really wanted to say. I wasn’t about to justify myself over Kenny of all people.
“I’m not doing this with you right now.”
I grabbed my keys and stalked toward the door, needing air, distance—anything to stop myself
