Engagement party

1087 Words
Later that day, two hours after she had breakfast with her grandfather, she dressed up and texted her grandfather that she was on her way to the office before she headed out. When she got to the office, as usual, she attracted many eyes as people wondered who she was. She had been coming here frequently and some of them assumed she was a mistress of one of the board directors. Of course, most the women said that out of jealousy. They whispered talking about her in hushed tones as she passed by. Even though they had lowered their voice, Yaa heard them crystal clear, she couldn't help but shake her head. It seemed her grandfather was too lenient with his people to the extent that they had free time to gossip. She made a mental note to inform her grandfather of his staff's behavior when the meeting was over. She took the private elevator that her grandfather had built for himself, his secretary and her and pressed on the 20th floor where the meeting was being held. Soon she found herself standing in front of the huge on way glass office door. When she entered the room, since she was an hour early, the only people present where her grandfather and Kwabena Eshun : his assistant. "Assistant Eshun" she greeted before she headed towards the seperate room old master Boateng had built specifically for her. She ignored her grandfather on purpose. Since she had enough time to spare, she took her phone and called one of her three close friends ; Ama Ankomah who was a super model and also one of the very few people who knew about all her secret identities. She regreted calling because the instant the call was connected, the person on the other end spoke before she could " Yayaa, did you miss me so much that you called. Aww I know I am someone who is memorable but if you continue, I would think you have a crush on me. Not that I'm complaining, how can I do such a thing when I am very well aware of the effect my beautiful face has on people. You don't have to worry, I wouldn't tell anyone of the little crush you have on me. " Yup that was Ama Ankomah, the narcissist. She was the only one who could frustrate the living hell out of a person but not our female lead; Yaa Boateng. She stayed quite and listen to the nonsense Ama was spouting. When she was sure that the latter was done blabbing, she asked " When will you be coming back ?" " Did you miss me that bad. Aww don't worry this beauty missed you too. By the way I would be returning back next Tuesday, why your sudden interest?" Ama knew Yaa was not one to ask of such questions unless she had a motive behind it so she couldn't help but feel suspicious when Yaa Boateng asked all of a sudden. " Good, when you come drop by, I have the recording and video. Besides, the engagement party is half a month and I want you there. Call the others so we will go over what to do once more." Ama Ankomah was baffled, gush and here she was thinking that her heartless friend missed her. She didn't even admit to the fact that she needs her help. Instead of asking for her help, she sounded like she was ordering her. *Sign* she had that douchebag to thank. He had completely ruined the once cheerful and innocent Yaa Boateng and now she had locked herself in. She was afraid to ask for help and open up to anyone. She had build the wall around the heart so high that it was almost impossible to break down. All the sparkle in her eyes died gradually after that incident. Ama Ankomah prayed in her heart that someone would come along and help her friend heal. " Okay, will do that. Take care of yourself so when your breathtakingly beautiful sweetheart comes back, you can compliment her." Finally after a long period of silence, she said before the call was disconnected. Yaa Boateng went into the meeting room and informed her grandfather about his employees behavior since the was still time to spare. Soon the meeting commenced. As usual, she went into her private cubicle and assistant Eshun brought over three documents for her to go through. For the sake of privacy and fairness, she was not told the names of the companies the documents belonged to. Yaa Boateng read every single word in each document and pressed the table mic and spoke. " Old Master Boateng, document one contains many pot holes, it reads in the third section of page one that twenty billion would be needed for the project put approximately, only three billion would be needed and the location that was chosen would make the company run at a lose since not many know of it. If you invest in it, your company would lose billions but the latter would gain from your loss. In section four of page three too states that a rehab center would be built near park 'B' of section C. That would create unnecessary problem since it has been all over the news that the government is planning on making it a recreational facility. In summary, I think they are trying to dupe you and get away with it." she analyzed. The CEO of that company was sweating bullets when she was half way through. It was true, he had indeed planned to dupe them, he never knew that the myths about the mysterious consultant 'Y' was true. How could he get away with it now, if word got out about what happened, his company would be ruined. Moreover, Kwame Ankomah was also present. He thought he could use this opportunity to make a good impression and get away with it. Never in his wildest dreams would he have thought that not only would his pot holes be discovered but plan to would be revealed. From the look of things, it looked like the consultant fished it out with just one glance and the consultant too didn't seem to have used any calculator since all phones were offed to avoid unnecessary disturbance. If there was one thing he was certain about, it was that his family business had little to no chance of survival. Unless of course a miracle occurred.
