"Good morning dad, mom" She greeted with a cheerful tone as she headed towards the kitchen counter. "Good morning sunshine. Did you sleep well?" "Yes, dad. I had a good night's sleep. I missed my bed while I was in Paris." "You know you could always come back, Emily." "I do and you know that I had to have a bit of change in my life dad." "Why aren't you speaking sweetheart. This girl needs some convincing." her father said while turning to her mom pouting. He was a sixty-year-old man that behaved like a child sometimes. "I will not interfere. She is twenty-seven. She can make her own decisions. Stop spoiling her." "Yes, mother. thank you." "I see you guys teamed up on me. well, I can't help it you know. It gets lonely. Your sister is barely at home since she's busy with school. I don't go often to the company since I'm a grumpy old man now and you left for Paris." "You are not a grumpy old man. Who called you that." "Your mom and the boys did." She immediately knew he was talking about the Braxton brothers. He was their godfather and quite close to them. "oh, well, it can't be helped if you are. You're still my number one man though," she said with a chuckle.  His face lit up with a proud smile as her attempt to cheer him up was definitely a success. "This was pleasant but I have to go now." "Where are you going, Emily?" "To the company, dad. I have some business to attend to." "getting back to work as soon as you got here? You should rest a bit more." her mom indicated with a surprised tone. "Let the girl do as she pleases, dear. She was never a homebody. I heard there's a new project coming up.  She will be busy soon." Her dad added before she could answer. He was always enthusiastic about work and the company. She kissed them goodbye and headed towards the company's headquarters.  As soon as she entered, she was greeted with bright smiles by everyone she passed by. She had worked here for over two years before going to Paris and she had a good relationship with almost every employee even if they weren't a part of her branch. As soon as she entered her office, she sat on her desk, opened her laptop, and started studying a ton of files for the new project. She didn't notice until it was well past six pm. she could see from the glass windows of her office that everyone was gone. She stretched and started feeling tingles all over her arms and legs. She ignored it and thought it was probably because she sat in the same position for hours.  She waited a bit until the tingles were gone and stood up to leave. As she waited for the elevator to come, she debated whether she had to work with Alexander for this project or not.  As soon as the elevator came and the door opened, she was greeted by none other than Alexander Braxton himself. She nodded her head in greeting as he did the same. She entered the cubicle and clicked the button. As the elevator made its way down, the tension was at its highest as she felt him staring intensely at her. Falling in love was never supposed to be so painful for her. Out of all people why him? She couldn't take this any longer as the elevator ride seemed to take more than usual. It felt suffocating for her to be in this small space with him. All she wanted was to get off and drive home.  She should have pretended to forget something and got on the next elevator. the moment the door opened, she left in a hurry. She fought the urge to sigh loudly in relief until she was out of his side, as she quickly entered her car and left.  As for him, he stared at her retreating figure with a glint of loneliness in his eyes. He ran his hands through his hair and closed his eyes a bit. he went to his car and sat there staring at nothing for a few minutes. "it didn't have to be this way." He said to himself as he drove away.
