(Zeus POV)
****Flashback continued***
Wake up! I think you have faked this annoying trauma long enough, Apollo grumbled as he paced in my head.
"Fine, but I was enjoying my sleep you know" I sighed as I slowly opened my eyes. The sight before me turned my stomach.
I found myself in a cell that smelled liked death, there were blood stains on the floor and walls, remnants of feces and urine everywhere. I was striped down to my birthday suit and had chains of silver attached at my wrists and ankles.
"Well I don't remember taking my close off, what happened?" I asked
They have a witch, she cast a spell and you were a walking zombie for the first day you got here and did this to yourself. He huffed
I just said O and continued to look around. Then it hit me, a smell I haven't had in years. My eyes grew larger as the figure at the end of the hall grew closer. "Mom?" I whimpered
It is but it isn't, she's under a spell. She doesn't know who you are at the present moment. Apollo growled. You are suppose to be under the same spell. Thankfully your shield protected me. I pushed it out a little to bring you back.
"Thanks, I don't need to be a zombie at the moment" I said as he just huffed. "Sorry man, I know I know we should have use the gifts better. It's still a working progress."
My mother zombie came and slid food and clothes through the bars of the cells and said, "Eat and dress yourself" in a monotone voice, then went back down the hallway.
This is food? I thought as I scrunched my nose up at the bowl of rotten meat and molded bread. I could smell a hint of wolfbane in it. The clothes weren't much better, they had silver thread in it. They were trying to keep me submissive. Luckily for me I had my shields.
"Now how do you suppose we get out of here?" I asked Apollo
We could just snap the chains and bust the bars, they are made of iron, so it should be easy. He smirked.
I pulled hard on the chains only to hear them snap at the slight pressure I applied. "Hm, seems they placed to much trust in the witch's spell," I hummed to myself while freeing my legs from the remaining chains.
I put on the silver laced clothing and walked over to the bars, analyzing the best way to free myself. I saw the hinges for the door where my best bet. I kicked the middle hinge and heard a loud crack as the metal gave way. I did the same to the lower hinge and watched as the door opened. Smiling to myself I walked down the hallway in the direction my mother went and was shocked at the amount of wolves that were kept here.
Every cell had at least one person in it, they were all staring into nothingness and sitting on the floor. They all looked pale and their eyes were hollow and void of life. I wondered how long some of them had been here in this hell. As I reached the main door I came to a decision, I wasn't going to leave here alone.
I needed to know the layout of the property and I needed to know where they enemy stayed. My memory was great, I could memorize things at a glance, which irritated Venus. I chuckled at that thought as I straightened myself and walked out the door.
I needed to play the part of a zombie so I flung all emotion out of my face and never looked anyone in the face as I passed them. The scent of mildew and rot was everywhere, it was a struggle to keep from gagging. The further down the corridor I went the smell of death faded so I knew I was headed toward an exit.
The cells that filled each hallway that I passed had more of the same zombie like people in them and some were pregnant, and others were filled with children who looked scared and whimpered when anyone would pass them.
I think they are breeding them, to them you're livestock! Apollo fumed. I was struggling to keep my alpha aura quelled as he seethed under the surface demanding I let him out.
"Now is not the time buddy, we will have our moment but first we must gather information." I said trying to sooth him. I was just as mad as he was but we couldn't show it, we had to remain hidden. I didn't want to go unseen yet, not until we were out of this place, not until we saw the sky.
Finally I reached a steel door that looked like one you would find on a ship, with the giant wheel you had to turn to open it. As it turned and squealed its displeasure in movement, I pushed it open and had to squint to see with light of the sun showering down on me. I stepped out and smelt the salty air, we were on a ship that was docked at a run down harbor. I knew this place, it was one of the places that we were planning on using as a dead drop. I knew where I was and how to get out of here. Now I just needed to know were the enemy slept.
I walked further along the side of the ship until I came across a few people watching some wolves fighting. From the smell of them, the people who were the watchers were all human hunters, and the wolves were angry and covered in scars and opened wounds that you could tell not all were fresh. The stench of blood was heavy in the air as I looked past the fight I could see a small pile of dead wolves bodies that hadn't been allowed to change back into their human forms upon their deaths. on the left side of them was a clothing line stung out and fur was hanging from it. They were skinning them and collecting the fur, I leaned over the side of the railing and lost what little food was left in my stomach.
"These bastards need to die." I growled to Apollo. I felt my claws extend as rage filled me, I reached for the first human and lopped off his head before the rest even realized I was there. I managed to kill most of them before my skin started to crawl and the feeling of restraint was beginning to press down on me.
The witch was here.
