PRESSURE
The Monday after Pedro’s party, Blanca sat at her desk at work when her phone buzzed with a notification. She pulled out her phone and saw a text message from Isabela, telling her she’d be in late. Setting aside her phone, she skimmed through her writing piece at work, reporting on Brazil as South America’s most influential country. Her work article further mentioned the decrease in poverty and economic growth of the country. Brazil had come a long way in some aspects of its way of life.
The fact that favelas still existed proved the great divide between the rich and the poor. They were not going away anytime soon. The country had made strides and was developing as a nation, but favelas and prostitution continued to exist.
