AVOIDING TRUTH
Isabela drew a hand through her hair, a questioning look in her eyes as she watched the back of Jose strut out of the office. “What was that about?”
Blanca averted her eyes. “Nothing.”
Isabela pressed her lips hard together. “That wasn’t nothing. He upset you.”
Blanca wanted to get back to work and forget about Jose. “He doesn’t want me writing the human-interest story about the favelas.”
