I began to walk the tiles, worried I might slip. Their smooth polished surfaces seemed like ice. Regardless, I maintained a graceful gait from doorway to doorway, and at the double doors that faced me, I turned the knob on the right one and opened the massive oak. At first glance, the room seemed black. But adjusting my eyes to the darkness, I noticed tiny lights at the floor to illuminate a narrow pathway. It took some minutes for me to get my bearings.
