"Hello!" I said, pressing the phone closer to my ear.
"Hi," Lucas’s voice came, warm and calm. "How are you and the kids?"
"We’re fine," I replied quickly, reaching out as Dorcas leaned dangerously over the tub. "Dorcas, sit down or you’ll fall! Jess, please hold her for me, or she’ll hurt herself."
I heard Lucas chuckle softly. "Are they taking their bath?"
"Yes," I sighed, wiping soap from my face. "Stop it, Dorcas! Why did you put soap on Mama’s face? Gosh, you people will kill me. Jessica, please take the towel and dry Dorcas for me. I’ll handle Maya."
Lucas burst out laughing. "Hahaha! I can see they’re working you out."
