ELLE’S POV
I was still in shock over what Lucas did to Kate. Part of me felt sorry for her, but deep down, I knew she deserved it. She had no right to lay a finger on my kids. My children are my world, and no one—absolutely no one—will ever hurt them and go free.
I went upstairs to check on the girls. When I entered their room, I found Lucas on the floor, laughing and playing with them. The sight melted my heart despite everything swirling in my head.
Quietly, I slipped into their bathroom and prepared their bath. When I returned, I smiled and said gently, “Okay, girls, time to take your bath.”
“No!!” Dorcas shouted with a pout.
