Prologue:

I thought it was just a dream.

His hands in my hair, his voice dragging me down into something shameless, his c*m on my tongue. Too real, too raw, too much for my mind to create. I swore I felt him, every second of it, until I woke up... still clothed, and my heartbeat running wild, only to see him sitting across the bed like a king watching his favorite sinner.

Selvik Voss.

He smirked at me like he knew every dirty detail my body was still trembling from. And when I demanded answers, he just leaned forward, with his eyes burning into me, and said...

“Are you sure it was a dream? Because what I remember is you fúcking me with your throat.”

The floor could’ve opened and swallowed me whole. My pride wanted to spit in his face. My body… traitor. It remembered.

That was the first time I realized I wasn’t safe. Not in my mind, not in my skin. He could slip into my head, twist my emotions, make me feel things that weren’t mine. My scars on my face? He laughed like he had painted them there himself. My fear? He fed on it.

I should’ve run. I should’ve stayed far away from the stranger with no past, the man the city whispered about but no one really knew. But the more I tried to fight, the deeper he pulled me in.

He wasn’t just a man. He was an Incubus, a dangerous one.

And me? I was already marked.

This is not a love story.

This is obsession dressed as desire.

This is where I lost myself to the Incubus.

The encounter
1 Zyrella I never thought my first real assignment would land me here... inside a ballroom with gold chandeliers, champagne glasses, and people who looked like they’d never known what broke meant. Mr. Andy, my editor, had made it clear: "Get something good on Selvik Voss." The man was a mystery. Just three months ago, no one had even heard of him. Now he was everywhere... business headlines, charity boards, whispered about in places. No past, no parents, no nothing. Just… suddenly a billionaire. And now, here I was, standing with my notepad in one hand, camera hanging from my neck, feeling my stomach twist. My palms were damp, my mind screaming at me not to mess this up. This could be my big break. That’s when I saw Selvik Voss from across the room, standing near the bar in a dark, perfectly suit. The kind of suit that screamed money. His hair was blond, perfectly styled like it just naturally fell into place, he had a faint smirk on his lips. And God… he was hot. Not just regular hot, but the unfair kind. The kind that made you question how God could create someone like that and just… release him into the world. He didn’t look real. I froze for a second, staring like an i***t. Then he moved... slipping away from the bar, heading for the side door. Wait. Where was he going? The gala wasn’t even over. Something in me clicked. This was it, this was why I was here. If I lost him now, I might never get another chance. I started walking, then quickened my pace. My heels tapped against the marble floor, and my dress swishing around my legs. He didn’t look back once. He turned down a narrow hallway, pushed through a door, and disappeared outside. I followed him, and then I saw him in an alley. Selvik stood in front of another man. They weren’t talking. Selvik reached out, placed his hand on the man’s shoulder, and in the next second, the man just… collapsed. My heart shot into my throat. I didn’t even think, I raised my camera up, and then took a picture... click, the flash went off. And then Selvik was right in front of me. I swear, he’d been all the way at the other end of the alley a second ago. My breath caught in my chest. How the hell had he moved that fast? Before I could say a word, his hand shot out, grabbing my camera. “Hey!” I gasped, but it was too late. He crushed it like it was nothing. Pieces of metal and plastic rained to the ground. My mouth fell open. He plucked out the SD card, snapped it clean in half, and tossed everything to the side like it was trash. I blinked at him. “Do you know how much that cost? That’s an expensive piece of equipment, you psycho! You can’t just...” He didn’t even look sorry, he didn’t even pause. He just… scoffed. Like I was some annoying fly buzzing in his ear. Then he turned and started walking away. I could feel my blood boil instead of me. “Oh, no. You’re not just walking away after that!!!” I shouted, storming after him. My heels clacked against the pavement, and my voice echoing down the alley. “Selvik Voss! You owe me! You better pay for that camera or I swear... hey! Don’t you ignore me!” I picked up my pace, practically jogging now. My voice got louder. “You think you’re too rich to care? Newsflash, moneybags, you just messed with the wrong girl...” And I kept following him, and yelling. A black tinted car rolled up the alley, it stopped right in front of him. One of those silent, expensive rides where the glass looked like it could hide the devil himself. A man in a suit stepped out fast, opened the back door like Selvik was some kind of king. I couldn’t believe my eyes. He was leaving... just like that. My camera gone, the lenses broken. The videos, the pictures, all the proof… destroyed. The SD card snapped in half like it was nothing. Hours of work, wasted. Andy was going to lose it. No... he was going to sack me. My chest burned with anger. “Oh, so you think you’re rich and can just walk away, huh? Break my stuff, ruin my work, and go scot-free?” I yelled after him, not even caring that the alley echoed with my voice. He didn’t stop. “You’ve got an ugly heart, Selvik Voss!” I spat out. That’s when he paused. Halfway inside the car, one hand on the roof. Slowly, he turned his head, and then he started walking back toward me. My heart pounded so hard I could hear it in my ears. He stopped right in front of me, close enough for me to smell his cologne... dark, expensive, dangerous. His eyes locked on mine, and his voice was low. “Beauty is delicate, young woman,” he said. “I could ruin yours with one touch.” Before I could even think of something to say, his hand came up. His thumb brushed along my cheek, slow… almost gentle. But his eyes said nothing gentle lived inside him. Then he stepped back, turned, and slid into the car. The door closed, and the black tinted ride drove away, taillights fading into the dark. I blinked, my mind catching up too late. And then I laughed. Not because it was funny, but because… what else could I do? “Not only a mean man,” I muttered to myself, “but also mentally insane. Ruin my beauty with his touch? Please.” No lenses meant today’s job was dead... The end. The story I came here for had slipped through my fingers. I’d just have to figure out what excuse I was going to give Andy on Monday. At least it was Saturday today. That gave me one whole day to make something up. I head home, and I have a feeling that this night is going to be a long night. Because I couldn’t stop thinking about him. Selvik Voss... His voice, his smirk. The way he looked at me like he could see right through my skin. I hated him so much for ruining my job. When I finally fell asleep, I dreamed of him. In the dream, I was back at the gala, only it wasn’t crowded anymore. The chandeliers were dim, the music gone. Just me and him. He stood in the middle of the dance floor, his suit jacket gone, his shirt sleeves rolled up. His eyes followed me as I walked closer, like he was waiting. Then he reached out a hand, and I took it. His palm was warm, almost too warm. The second our skin touched, the lights flickered, and the room around us burned away into shadows. I couldn’t move, and I couldn’t pull away. His other hand came up, brushing my cheek again, just like in the alley... only this time, I felt something hot, almost searing, against my skin. I woke up gasping, with my heart racing, and my face was burning. I ran to the mirror, my reflection stared back at me, my skin cracked, marked, scabbing on my cheek. I screamed so loud the neighbors probably heard. Because this wasn’t a dream anymore. Selvik Voss had touched me, and now his mark was real on my face.
