Before he could do anything else, a blue lightning bolt impacted his stomach. He went flying backward, hit a tree, then rebounded back.
He tapped his demon powers, and the wings came out. But was too late to duck the invisible man’s slap.
He flew a few feet, then struck the ground.
He heard the invisible man’s footsteps move faster towards him. And he only had one trick to save his ass. He shadow walked and appeared behind the invisible man. Still limping.
“Do you think you are that ugly to expose yourself to me?” Trevor said, exhaling heavily.
The invisible man or monster just groaned. “Get out of the shell, man,” he added. This was the only way to beat the invisible man. How could he fight him or it if he couldn’t see it? So provoking it to reveal itself was the only way. “Came on. I’m not that handsome I’m? You don’t have to hide yourself.” He added. But it didn’t work at all.
The invisible monster charged towards him. He shadow walked and appeared again behind it. Then gave his wand a casual flick and blue-lit left the tip of his wand it went flying toward the invisible monster.
Then he heard something groan and seconds later struck the snow ground.
He waited as he heard the invisible monster mutter something under its breath.
Trevor waved his wand again, but this time heard nothing like groaning or something striking the snow ground.
He began rounding. There was no telling where the invisible monster could be. For all he knew, it could spook itself behind him. And give him a heart attack before it could even dismember him.
He began moving forward, concentrating more on his hearing senses than any other. But it seemed to be of no use.
The hair at the back of his head stood up, with the thought of the invisible monster attacking him from anywhere. And that fear came true a few heartbeats later.
Something hit him behind his head and he went sliding on the snow. Then stopped as he struck a tree. He held his hand up, then realized his wand was about ten to fifteen feet from him. He tried to get up, but failed miserably. His life was flashing right in front of his eyes.
I thought about his unborn baby girl. What would happen to her if he allows this bastard to kill him? What would happen to his wife and his two boys(Mutale and Justine)? Would Sebastian be able to deal with the Academy alone?
The thought of losing his family danced inside his head for what seemed to be minutes. When it was just a few seconds.
He felt his right foot being lifted. Then the invisible monster began swinging him and after five swings let him go.
He went flipping in the air powerless, then slammed a snow Mountain. Rolled down and lay underneath it.
He tried to get up but failed and fell flat on his face.
He heard the invisible monster’s footsteps get closer at each passing second. Then it stopped a few feet from him.
"Did you seriously think you would beat me?” It chuckled, Trevor opened his mouth, but no word came out. “And you wanted me to reveal myself so bad didn’t you?”
He didn’t answer. Then after a few seconds he peeled open his eyes then saw big feet that could cover his all body. He moved a little, but that was all he could manage.
He tried calling to his demon powers, but nothing happened. He called his wand, but it didn’t appear in his hands.
“All you want your wand,” the invisible man oozed. Judging by his feet, that bastard was definitely a human just huge than normal. “Don’t worry, I will make sure to destroy it to pieces just like I will do to you.”
Trevor tried to raise, but it was of no use.
Just as the invisible man bent to touch him. It went flying backward and struck the poor tree, then groaned as it slammed the snow ground.
He peeled opened his eyes again and snow little snowmen’s feet running towards the invisible man.
“Worry do not. I, the snowmen, help you,” a woman’s voice said.
He tried to turn his head to see who it was, but he failed. “Come, I...” she stammered, “help you ok?”
The woman held Trevor’s hand and lifted him. Putting his hand around her shoulders.
He looked at her, then sighed, “Reyar,” and his eyes went shut.
He heard people speaking in a language he couldn’t understand. Then he opened his eyes and got up.
He looked around and the place was very dim the only source of light was coming from a huge candle that sat on the table not too far from him.
Then he spotted a short lady facing her back on him. Her green dress glittering. He got up from the uncomfortable couch and saw three snowmen, and he remembered them right away.
He cleared his throat and Reyar turned to face him.
“Oh, awake, sir. I see,” she walked closer to him.
“Where I’m I?”
“My house, sir,” she shot him a cheerful look.
“What happened to that bastard?” He asked, remembering everything.
“The.... The snowmen beat him, sir,” she said.
Last time Trevor saw her, she couldn’t even speak English. Emit had to translate everything to her.
“Care for tea sir?” She moved towards a cattle.
“Year sure,” he sat down, “how did you find me?”
“Was going my bar, sir. Then I saw you flying and hit a tree. So I called help,” she looked at the snowmen who dipped their heads.
She went and sat the cattle and a small but reasonable white cup on the table. Then pulled tea in the cup and handed it to Trevor.
“Thanks, you really helped me. For a second I thought I was going to die,” he took a sip. Then sat the cup on the table as fast as he could. A thought hit him. He got up and began examining his pockets. He looked where he was laying then continued examining himself. “You don’t happen.....”
“Looking for his wand, sir,” Reyar was holding Trevor’s wand in her hand.
“Yeah,” he sighed and sat down. “So, did you kill him?” He took another sip.
“The coward ran, sir,” she dipped her head disappointedly.
“Don’t feel disappointed, Reyar. If it wasn’t for you guys, only God knows what would have happened to me.” She looked up at him and smiled.
“Emit, saying your family......good people,” she grinned, showing her big front teeth.
“It was just a fact, Reyar. And I thought you didn’t speak English,” he drank almost half the cup this time.
“Learning sir. Wanting to show Emit I speak English too,” her cheeks got pink.
“You don’t owe the bastard anything. He is busy flatting with other women. Oh, s**t,” he looked around. To prevent eye contact with Reyar. “Did I tell you this tea is great,” I added to make her forget about what he just said.
“Sir, is Emit cheating on me?” Her face began to change. From an innocent one to an angry wife.
“Oh, no. That came out wrong. He loves you so much. Now tell me where I can find Emit’s, son,” he said, changing the topic and finally realizing the reason he was in Yarrum.
“Are you telling truth, sir?” She looked her enormous eyes into Trevor’s and the man could see his eyes reflected in hers.
“Yes, I’m Reyar. Now tell me where to find Egayov.”
“You are still recovering sir.....”
“Can you do me a favor?” He interrupted her.
“What does sir want?”
“Call me Trevor, not sir, ok?” She nodded. But her face gave her away. She was not fully committed to her decision. “I’m fine, look,” he stood up, but seconds later leaned on a couch for support.
“Sir..... I mean Trevor. Rest snowmen and I going fight Egayov for you.”
“Are you crazy? That bastard is a psychopath. And I don’t want you to get in trouble because of me. You have a bar to run, isn’t it?” She nodded again, “this is my fight and my fight alone. That bastard destroyed my home and took my family. That I’m never merciful to such assholes,” his face burning with anger.
“Ass.... Assyo?” She looked at Trevor.
“No, it’s asshole with an H. Anyway, forget it. Just tell me where to find him.”
“Not until sir gets better.”
“You are impossible,” was all he could manage to say.
And now he was stuck in Yarrum. No idea where Egayov took his family. Not knowing how things back home were. Have Sebastian and the rest woken up yet? The answer to that question never came up to him.
The fear of losing his family was slowly creeping toward him with each passing second. And the fact that the time in Yarrum was not as it was on earth made things even worse.
The more time he spends in Yarrum, the more chances of the academy attacking the family he left at home. And that would be like taking candy from a baby. All of them were powerless. The only person who was awake was Mrs. Sinkala. An old woman with no powers whatsoever to fight the Academy.
Just the thought of losing his friend made his heart skip a beat.
By now one day must have passed on earth, heck, even two. Just a few seconds in Yarrum can earn an hour on earth. Or maybe it changes. A few hours in Yarrum been a few seconds on earth. That idea seemed to have made his shoulders relax I bit.
But that didn’t last long. His unborn baby girl was in danger of being killed. It might not be the Academy, but that will mean the family tree was correct. Just that thought alone took whatever peace he had in his mind.
And there are his two boys, Justine and Mutale. Just a few days ago, he fought with Justine about the same thing. Their lives been in danger every single time.
Was he going to let his promise of protecting them go to worst?
Then there is Erup. A boy from frogsta land, who he saw as his son. The boy ran away from his home hoping to find peace on earth. But I was in more danger than he could have been in his home. He might not display it on his face. But maybe, just maybe, something in his head kept telling him he made a mistake by coming to leave with Trevor.
And the twins, Frazer and Mwansa. Sebastian’s kids. Was he going to let that asshole of a son kill his best friend’s children? They named them after his father, and that was the greatest gift he could ever receive. So letting Egayov do whatever he wanted was out of the equation.
He got up and went to sit at the fireplace. The windows opened forcefully by the strong wind outside. And snow flicks entered the house.
With only the wave of her hand, Trevor saw the windows shut tightly.
He stared at the fireplace for some time. Then I saw Reyar approaching him.
She now wore a very fancy white dress. Long enough to sweep the snow wherever she was going to pass. A blue handbag and huge earrings.
He was too lost in his thoughts to even notice when Reyar was out of sight.
“Trevor, I have to go bar, ok? I will back later. Food kitchen and stay here till I come, ok?” she said while applying red lipstick.
Trevor just nodded.
“All will be fine, ok? Your family fine ok? Just stay and recover for now,” she touched his shoulder, and by the looks of things, her hand was heavy enough to make him move. “Will be back later,” she turned and left the house, closing the door behind her softly.
The man was too lost in his thoughts. But that was justified. His unborn baby’s name did not appear on the family tree, which apparently means she was not gonna be born. Though I said he was going to do everything in his powers to protect her. Things weren’t going as planned. What if Egayov kills her? Then the family tree was going to be proven right. And that was something he was not willing to accept.
Every time his wife gets pregnant, someone always comes and kills the baby before it is born. First Azariah killed his first child with Maria, then Siobhan killed the second one. And now the third one was in danger. Was he that unlucky?
“I’m not gonna let this one go. I just can’t,” he said to himself.
