After driving for a few minutes, they reached Helen Kaunda area. Trevor drove past a few houses and finally stopped a black rather old gate.
Sebastian went out of the car and opened the gate. Trevor drove in and packed a few feet from the front door. Then he and Mr. Jamison went out.
The surrounding was not that pleasing to look at. To be frank with you. Long untrimmed glass occupied the other side of the house. The other side was covered with dried leaves that must have fallen from the trees.
The front door was not something that can keep thieves from entering the house.
Trevor looked at Mr. Jamison then turned to examine the surrounding even more.
As they made their way to the door, he spotted a broken window that was covered by a box. Trevor’s anger only grew more.
And his anger was justified. Who would be happy to see an old person living a life of misery when the person even has children, who even have nice paying jobs? Now one. Well, except for heartless bastards.
Trevor opened the house and immediately locked eyes with Mr. Jamison’s children.
Two men looked identical to Mr. Jamison. There were also fat but not to reach the extent of their father.
One of them was wearing a black expensive-looking suit and well-trimmed black hair.
The other one wore casual clothes and completed the look with nice-looking sneakers.
Then, as Trevor looked on the other side, he saw a woman about Loveness’s age. She wore a blue designer dress, which had glowing diamonds at the end of the sleeves and around the neck. The dress was above her knee cups. And she also wore high-heeled shoes and accessorized herself with a gold necklace.
“You have got to be kidding me,” Sebastian, who was behind Trevor, said.
“Apparently not,” Trevor replied while examining the house further.
The brown, old-looking couches surrounded a brown wooden table. And on the other side, there was a wooden dining table that looked pretty old as well. But not too old to fell on someone or anything like that.
“Thanks, you all for coming,” Mr. Jamison began. “This is Trevor my bo.....”
“I think we have talked about that, sir,” Trevor interrupted.
“Yes. So this is Trevor, I work at his cafe. And this is Sebastian Trevor’s brother.” He said, looking at his children.
“Hey,” the three of them said to Trevor and Sebastian.
But Trevor and Sebastian just went and sat down. Mr. Jamison between them.
“So father, what is the meeting all about? And why are the two of them here? I thought it was a family meeting,” the one who looked like the eldest said.
“Are seriously using the word family? Do you even know what family means?” Sebastian scolded.
“What are you talking about, man?” The older one asked.
“You are well, aware of what he is talking about. Just look at the kind of junk your father lives in. This is nothing but trash,” he gestured for the house. “Maybe you need to see an eye doctor or something. Because it’s pretty evident, you don’t have eyes. The outside looks like no one live here,” he finished breathing heavily.
“This is why you called the meeting? For these spoiled brats to come and scold us,” the other man, who was clearly the second-born, spoke.
“Who the hell are you calling spoiled brats?” Sebastian got up.
“My son, please sit down. Let’s solve these like mature people. Not like kids. Sebastian, I said sit down,” Sebastian glared at the second-born, then sat down. “And John, show some respect. These people have done nothing but help me,” he looked at the second born who was busy playing with his fists.
“What does that supposed to mean. Don’t we take care of you?” The firstborn asked.
“That’s not what I meant, Nathan,” Mr. Jamison replied.
“So father, are you going to tell us why we are here or will this,” she gestured at Trevor and Sebastian in a rather unpleasant way. “Will they be allowed to talk to us in that way?”
“Listen. They need to talk to you. And if you can only cooperate with them, I’m sure things will go smoothly.”
“But father, they are the ones who started by talking rudely to us,” Nathan said.
“We started this?” Trevor glared at Nathan.
“Trevor, you are better than this,” Mr. Jamison spoke.
“Alright, so here is the deal,” Trevor began. “I don’t appreciate that you have allowed your, father, to work at this age. I mean look at him,” he looked at Jamison then turned back to them. “The old man needs to relax and enjoy the fruits of his labor.”
“But how come you have allowed him to work at this age? Listen here clever......”
“It’s Trevor, princess,” He interrupted rudely.
“Whatever. And my name is Mercy. Anyway, as I was saying. You are not any better.”
“Ask your father how many times I have asked him to quiet. Countless times. But he never agrees with me. And I can see why,” he looked at the surrounding.
Then he realized the house was dim. He looked to the other side and saw a candle burning on a Waldrop.
“What does that supposed to mean?” Mercy asked.
“How stupid,” Sebastian whispered for only Trevor and Mr. Jamison to hear.
“What did you say?” Nathan asked.
“How can he stop working when all the bills are in him?” Sebastian spoke.
“And how can you sleep knowing your father, who is old, is sleeping alone in this house? It can literally fall at any point,” Trevor added.
“We have paid someone to look after him. Lubuto!” John called, looking behind him.
After a few minutes a young girl, around Mutale’s age, emerged from the dark. She was light in complexion with long black hair. She wore a black shirt and wrapped a chitenge around her worst.
“Yes sir,” she dipped her head.
“This is Lubuto. She looks after, father. So stop saying things you don’t know,” Mercy spoke.
“Are you been serious with me right now? Do you even hear yourself?” Sebastian spoke.
“Apparently, she can’t, or else she would have heard how stupid she sounds. She is about twenty years old. And she is a girl. How the hell is she supposed to take care of your father, and clean the house? Not to forget the surrounding. And young lady, aren’t you supposed to be at school or something?” Trevor said, looking at Lubuto.
“Well, I’m, and that is why I’m here. I needed to save up some money,” she replied, but her face was still facing down.
“Stupidity doesn’t reach this level. You are alive, for God’s sake. You are the only ones who can take good care of him. Trevor, did you know about her living here?” Sebastian asked.
“Not even a bit, man. Mr. Jamison, why didn’t you tell me about this?” Trevor asked.
“I might have forgotten. But it’s no big deal. The young woman does her level best.”
“We do not doubt that. But she is too young to be taking care of you. Judging by the suit you are wearing, you have a well-paying job. So I’m sure you can do better than take advantage of this poor girl’s vulnerability. And all of you look like you have well-paying jobs, so, I don’t know how difficult it can be to take care of your father,” he emphasized the last word.
“Lubuto, you can go,” Sebastian said and the young lady left. “Guys, let’s be fair. He took care of you. So don’t you think he at least deserves a share from your salaries?” They didn’t reply, so he went on, “he is your father, and with that been said, you are the only one who can take care of him. Well, we can as well. But that is when you carry on with your stupidity.”
“What happened to show respect?” John asked.
“You don’t deserve our respect, man. This is really out of hand. And Mercy, you are a woman. You, of all people, should have sorted this matter a long time ago. So please guys, let’s take responsibility for our actions,” Trevor spoke.
There was a pregnant pause, then Nathan said.
“We have heard you. So what do you suggest we should do?”
“That’s nice. Well, the first thing is first he has stopped working. And we are not arguing about this Mr. Jamison,” he added after seeing him opening his mouth. “Secondly, one of you needs to take him along. Or at least find him a more reasonable caretaker. Also, someone to clean this surrounding.”
“Or better off, find him another house. Not this junk,” Sebastian added.
“This one is ok, Sebastian, thank you,” Mr. Jamison said.
“No, father Sebastian is right. You can stay with me while we wait for my other house to finish,” Mercy said.
“Was that hard to do?” Trevor asked.
“We are sorry father,” Nathan went and kneed before his father, then his siblings followed behind him.
Everything turned out better than they actually expected. Trevor even forgot about the trip they have. But that was something to consider later. Now it’s just to enjoy the moment and nothing more.
