The boys kept on trying to speak, but their breath was too short. Trevor sighed and moved even close to the boys.
“I was talking about this a few minutes ago,” Emmanuel said. But Trevor didn’t reply. He only contracted on the boys.
“Tell me you didn’t have one of those twin dreams?” he looked at them.
“I….. I wish I can father, but we had one,” Mutale responded.
“Wait, why do we have a dog inside? And why is it speaking? Father, what is going on?” Justine spoke.
“He is not important, now tell me what you dreamed of.”
“Its Mrs. Sinkala,” Mutale said, finally catching his breath.
“What about her?”
“We need to save her. There is no time to worst, we need t go now,” Justine added.
“What do you mean we need to save Mrs. Sinkala? She is dead.”
“I don’t think so father, in our dream, someone has locked her in a dirty room full of human bones. She kept on crying and calling your name. As Justine said, we need to go now,” Matule moved and took Trevor’s hand.
“Dude, you are cutting me again. Don’t even think about coming back, hoping for me to help you and answer your questions,” Emmanuel said, but again, no one paid attention to him.
“Mutale wait,” he got out of Mutale’s grip. “I think the fact that you were so found of her made you dream about her. Its just not possible for her to be alive. I saw her with me two eyes.”
“Father, you are well aware that our dream twin powers, are never a lie. So, I don’t get why you are finding it hard to believe. We are actually wasting time,” Justine said.
“Father, please lets just go, then what will happen later we will deal with it. But we gotta go,” Mutale said.
Trevor did not know what to say or do. On the other hand, he knew his children’s dream powers had never failed before. So, they might be telling the truth. But again, he saw Mrs. Sinkala’s dead body. So her been alive just makes zero sense. And if she is alive, that means even Emit, Hephzibah and Azariah are also alive. But how was this even possible?
He burnt the house that contained their dead bodies. So, are they still alive?
“Oh, screw it,” Justine moved and touched his father. Before Trevor could do anything, Justine shadow walked. And seconds later they appeared in a forest looking place. “This way,” he began walking, not caring about what his father was saying.
Trevor looked at Mutale, who just appeared seconds before them. But the boy looked away and followed his brother.
He had no chance but to follow them now. He tripped on a brunch, which he could not see due to the darkness of the place. Waved his wand and the tip of it got lit.
“Father, shut it down,” the boys whispered to him.
He waved the wand again, and it went shut.
The wind brew even stronger. The trees moved from one direction to the other, as their brunches tangled with each other. Th long tall grass beneath them, which was enough to reach Trevor’s knee, only made weird noises that made him reconsider following his sons.
The owls sang even louder, which scared Trevor even more. Though he is a wizard, he is not immune to fear. Just expecting the unexpected is way to creep.
They walked for about thirty minutes and no sign of getting out of the forest.
“Boys, where the hell are we going? This forest is too dark. And i think the time difference between this place and home is big. I mean, when we left home it was already four in the morning, by now it should be five. Which means the sun should come out, but this place is way too dark. Now back to my question, where the hell are we going?”
“According to our dream, we should supposed to pass this forest, then we will find where they are keeping Mrs. Sinkala. But as you said, this place seems not to end,” Mutale said.
“Exactly, so i think we should just go home,” Trevor spoke, and clapped a mosquito.
“But what……..”
“But nothing, Justine, lets go. I have a lot of important things to attend to,” Trevor scolded.
“Yes, father,” they replied, looking down.
They all stayed in silence and closed their eyes. But after a few seconds, they opened them again. They exchanged wary expressions. But none of them attempted to speak, then they closed their eyes again. After a minute, they opened their eyes.
Trevor looked at the boys, then the surrounding. He was still in the forest, to his surprise.
“Boys, what the hell is going on? Why can’t I shadow walk?”
“Father, we can’t shadow walk as well. So, I’m sure we do not know what the hell is going on,” Justine said.
“Boy, I’m gonna kill you before whatever is going on kills you if you don’t show me respect.”
“Father, there is something over there,” Mutale pointed ahead of them.
Trevor looked closely and saw some sort of light about multiple feet from them. Enough to make them walk for two days before they arrive at the place.
“Do you think it’s where they are keeping Mrs, Sinkala heald?” Mutale asked.
“I don’t think this is about Mrs. Sinkala, Mutale. This is something more serious and i think it is about to turn dangerous,” Trevor said.
“Shall we go and look?” Justine asked.
“Well, we can’t shadow walk our way from this place, so, we should just check what is there,” Trevor responded.
He went past Mutale and lead the way. They walked through the grass and the forest, clapping mosquitoes who were trying to be clever.
Then something moved behind them that made the three of them jump as they turned to see what it was. All of them holding their wands.
Trevor pushed the boys behind him and began moving toward the dancing grass. As he reached two steps from the dancing grass, something came out and jumped at him.
He pushed it aside, and it went flying until it hit into a tree.
Then the grass where the thing fell and going further began moving. Then, after a few minutes, one creature jumped on the tree. The only thing they managed to see was its enormous eyes. The rest of the body was just black.
“Boys, I think this is where we run,” he began moving backwards.
As he turned, the boys were already ten feet from him.
“Cowards!” he screamed and charged after them.
He kept on turning behind as they ran, hoping the little creatures had stopped, but that wa not the case.
He reached the boys, and they began running at the same pace. Trevor looked behind and noticed the creatures were getting closer.
As he held his wand, he realised they have left the forest, and the grass was getting tall. He directed his wand behind him, not caring if the spell hits the right target or not. He waved it and green light left the tip of his wand. Then seconds later, he heard a blast, but didn’t look back.
“Father the grass,” Mutale gasped.
The grass was now reaching Trevor’s hips, and it was becoming hard to run in it.
The creatures began making weird noises behind, but neither of them attempted to look behind.
“Father, aren’t you nature?” Justine asked, and Trevor nodded, not knowing where all of this was going. “We are literary around nature.”
“Which means you can control the grass and everything around us,” Mutale added.
“Clever bastards,” Trevor said, grinning from ear to ear. “ What is the status behind?”
“They are about five feet from us,” Mutale said.
“Nice, time to show these creatures who is boss,” Trevor sai and stopped running.
He turned behind and so did the boys.
Then the creatures stopped as well, hissing under their breaths. Presumably talking to each other.
Trevor took a deep breath and closed his eyes, then seconds later, opened them.
He held his hand, and the grass in front of the creatures began growing. The creatures jumped, but an invisible force pushed them behind. Judging by Trevor’s expression, he knew nothing about the invisible force.
He looked at Mutale and the boy was holding his wand with his two hands and blue lightning was coming out from the tip of the wand. He turned to look at Justine and he also had his wand clasped in his hands and the same lightening color as Mutale’s was coming out of his wand as well.
“You didn’t think we would let you do this alone,” Justine spoke.
Trevor just grinned and turned to the creatures. The grass was tall enough to keep the creatures from crossing.
“I think that will do. But what is this place? And why can’t we shadow walk? We need to be on high alert.” Trevor said.
