After he finished bathing, he went downstairs. He finished eating, then he and Sebastian went to go look for the four family members.
They began by searching Mrs. Sinkala’s house, but they were not there. They checked Azariah’s place still, they were not there.
They couldn’t check at Emit’s place because it was in Yarrum. And they couldn’t have gone there even if they wanted to. So the only place left was Hephzibah’s.
Trevor shadow walked, and they appeared in the living room.
The hair at the back of Trevor’s head stood. Everything was messed up. The couches were flipped. The table has split into two pieces. Refrigerator on the floor. Everything was just messed up.
Trevor and Sebastian shared a look for a few minutes, then Trevor rushed to go and check the other rooms.
He opened the second room from the passage wall. Heart hammering like it has never before. His blood flowing so fast he nearly fainted.
Then, as he stepped inside the room, his eyes widened. Emit was laying on the bed, face down.
Trevor called whispery but Emit didn’t respond. Called again, no response.
He could now hear his heart beating. He moved closer and saw blood on the bedsheets beneath Emit.
Trevor moved quickly and rounded Emit. Then he slapped his now blood hands on his mouth.
The man did not have a heart. There was just a huge hole where a heart was supposed to be.
Then there was something black on the neck. Like someone was strangling him before they actually took his heart.
Trevor felt as if someone just punched him in the heart. He stayed there looking at Emit. Then, as he turned his head, his eyes widened more.
Mrs. Sinkala was laying beside a mirror. Trevor went to her, tears streaming down his cheeks.
She was also laying face down. He rounded her. And the same just like on Emit. She also didn’t have a heart and there was a black lining around her neck.
He lifted her and put her on his thighs. This was more to comprehend than anything.
If he didn’t allow them to leave the house, then this wouldn’t have happened. If he wasn’t an ass, then Emit and Mrs. Sinkala would still be alive.
He stayed there with Mrs. Sinkala on his thighs for some time. Until Sebastian screamed his name upstairs.
He moved Mrs. Sinkala and lay her next to Emit. Then he moved one bedsheet and covered them.
He rushed upstairs and found Sebastian in the fourth room.
He was squatting near to a body. Trevor began nodding his head as he walked closer to Sebastian. Then his question was answered.
Hephzibah was laying there. Same as the other two. No heart and a black lining on his neck.
Trevor fell and began looking at Hephzibah.
Who could have done this? They killed four. His heart skipped a beat.
Azariah.
He got up and charged downstairs, with Sebastian behind him.
They searched the kitchen, nothing. They searched all the rooms downstairs, but Azariah was nowhere to be seen.
They went back upstairs and began searching room after room.
Trevor touched the doorknob to the last room upstairs to be searched.
He looked at Sebastian, who was looking as pale as him. Then, after a few heartbeats, he pushed the door inwards.
Blood trailed just a few feet from the door to the other side of the bed.
They began walking slowly and the remaining of Trevor’s heart broke. Azariah was also laying there, not face down though.
Then she sighed, Trevor moved closer to her.
“Azariah. Don’t worry, we are here. We will help you,” he said, tears coming out more rapidly.
“T.T.T,” she stammered.
“Just relax we will help you. Sebastian let’s put her on the bed,” Sebastian moved closer and they lifted her, then put her on the bed.
“Loveness,” she said.
“What about Loveness?” Sebastian asked.
“Sebastian,” Trevor scolded, “Azariah, just stay quiet, ok?”
In Azariah’s case, she still had her heart, but the black lining was there.
Trevor moved closer to her and began casting healing spells. But nothing seemed to work.
Sebastian put his ring on her, but that didn’t work either.
“Trevor. Loveness.. ki. kids,” she stammered again.
“Azariah I said, just relax. You can tell me. ”
Before he could even finish his sentence, she took her last breath.
“Oh, no, no!” He screamed and sat next to her. “Azariah, wake up. Azariah, wake up!” He screamed on top of his lungs. But that didn’t bring her back.
Then, after a couple of minutes, the black lining on her neck began glowing.
Trevor wiped his tears and looked at her neck. It kept on glowing brighter at the point where Trevor and Sebastian looked away. Then, after some time, it stopped, and they looked back.
Her heart was gone as well.
“What the heck,” Sebastian gasped. “Trevor, who is doing this?”
“How the hell should I know?” He replied rudely.
He left the room and went into the living room. He sat on the couch feeling like someone has given him a blow to his heart.
If only he listened to what they were telling him, then nothing of this sort would have happened.
If only he tried to listen to their explanation, then neither of them would have died.
What is he going to tell Isaac about his grandma? The boy now had no family. Well, except for none blood-related ones such as Trevor.
If only he controlled whatever was taking over him at the moment, then no one would have died.
Sebastian came and lay a bottle of wine on the table with two wine glasses.
He opened it and pulled wine into the glasses.
Trevor took one glass and shoved it in his mouth like water. He took the bottle and pulled a glass full of wine. Again shoved it like he was drinking water.
“Dude, slow down,” Sebastian said.
“If only I listened. Then none of this would have happened,” he pulled again.
“Trevor, this is not your fault at all. You did what you thought was right. And I supported you because you were right. They lied to you. And chasing them out of your house was the best way to go about it. And the women chose to follow their boyfriends. So don’t ever say this is your fault,” Sebastian said and shoved the remaining wine in his glass.
“But I didn’t give them time to explain, man. If only I listened to what they wanted to tell me, then maybe I wouldn’t have chased them. ”
“Will you stop it? Instead of you sobbing like a little girl, why don’t we go and find the coward who did this.”
“Loveness,” he gasped.
“No. Loveness can never do such a thing, you i***t,” he scolded.
“I’m not saying she killed them. The girl can’t hate a fly. I mean, Azariah kept on mentioning Loveness before she died. And then she also mentioned. kids. Dammit. We have to go. Now. ”
He got up and Sebastian moved closer to him. Then as he just touched him, Trevor shadow walked and appeared seconds later inside his house.
No one was in the living room. His heart sunk a bit. Then he called for Loveness and she replied. Her voice was coming from the kitchen. He sighed and went straight to her.
“Dear are you alright? Nothing unusual has happened, right?” He asked, perusing her body as he reached the kitchen.
“I’m fine Trev. Why do you have blood on you? Is everything ok?” she asked, face looking terrified.
“We need to have a quick meeting something came up. Now,” he said and left the kitchen.
He went upstairs and called everyone.
After a few minutes, they all gathered in the living room.
Trevor got up from the couch and stood in the middle. Then, before he could even start talking, a tear dropped from his left eye.
“Isaac, my boy, come here,” he masked his tear.
Isaac left the couch and went to him. Trevor kneed down and hugged the boy.
“Father, what’s the problem? Is everything ok?” Mutale asked.
Trevor sighed and got up.
“Dad, what’s going on?” Justine asked.
“So, me and your uncle Sebastian went to bring back Emit and the rest back. ” He looked away from everyone.
“Trevor, what’s going on? You are making me scared,” Loveness said.
Trevor kneed again.
“Listen, Isaac, you know you are a brave boy, right?” Trevor asked.
“Yes uncle Trevor I do,” Isaac replied.
“And you know I love you so much, eh?”
“Yes, uncle Trevor. Is my grandmother ok?” Isaac’s eyes began getting watery.
“Don’t cry. You just said you are a brave boy,” Trevor wiped the boys’ tears. “I’m sorry to say this but,” there was a pause, then he continued. “Your grandmother is not coming back. ”
“What do you mean, she is not coming back? Is she dead? Uncle Trevor, where is my grandmother?” The boy screamed at the top of his lungs.
Trevor just hugged the boy tightly. Tears streaming down his cheeks.
After a couple of minutes, he let the boy go. And wiped his tears.
“Listen Isaac. Brave boys don’t cry. These bastard brothers of yours will think you are not brave enough,” he pointed at the five boys. “Do you want to see her? Maybe say goodbye?” The boy just nodded. “Sebastian will tell you the rest of the story. I and Isaac are going for a ride. ”
Just as he finished saying that, he and Isaac winked out of sight. Then seconds later appeared in the bedroom where Mrs. Sinkala and Emit lay dead.
Isaac ran and hugged his grandmother’s dead body.
Trevor went and began caressing his hand on Isaac’s back.
Minutes later, the boy lifted his head. “I should have followed her. Maybe she wouldn’t have died. I promised her that I will always protect her, uncle,” the boy cried.
“This is not your fault, my boy. The bastard who killed her is the one who should be feeling sorry. And I shouldn’t have allowed her to leave my house. So this is equally my fault,” he hugged the boy yet again.
“Are we taking her along?” The boy asked as Trevor unwrapped him from a bone-breaking hug.
“I’m afraid not. Due to people not knowing about magic, we can’t bury them like normal people. But at least they are going to heaven,” he smiled to lighten up the mood.
“Really?” A smile crept on the boys’ cheeks as well.
“Yeah,” he replied, though not even sure. “Have you said goodbye to her?” Isaac nodded, “well, can we go now?” The boy nodded again.
“Are we transporting again? It makes my stomach groan,” Isaac said.
“It’s the fastest transport. ”
“Alright then. ”
Trevor touched the boy and seconds later they appeared outside Hephzibah’s house.
“I’m going to burn this place. Just in case the police come and find our fingerprints. They might think we are the ones who killed them. Do you understand?”
“Uncle, I’m six, not four years,” the boy smiled again.
Trevor smiled even wider as he saw that the boy was doing better now.
He took a sigh and snapped his fingers. Then seconds later, the house was caught on fire.
He looked at Isaac and only spotted a tear dropping from his right eye.
“Care for ice cream?” Trevor asked.
“Yeah,” the boy said lazily.
Trevor touched the boy and seconds later, they appeared on top of a mountain.
Trevor called his wand, and it appeared in his hand. Then he waved it and two massage chairs appeared. He looked at the boy and gestured for him to sit.
Then just as the boy sat, Trevor waved his wand again and two bowls of ice cream appeared. One in Isaac’s hands and the other in Trevor’s hands.
“Can no one see us here?” Isaac asked, taking a spoonful of ice cream.
“No. This is where I come when I need to relax. It’s very quiet, and the weather is amazing. Don’t you think so?” The boy nodded, “and don’t tell anyone we came here, ok?”
“Under one condition,” the boy looked at Trevor mischievously.
“I thought ice cream was enough to buy your silence,” Trevor spoke, smiling from ear to ear.
“No. This is to cheer me up. And for my silence. You have to tell everyone that Delur is my snowman. They keep sending the poor boy to do stupid things for them. I tried telling them not to e*****e it but they refused to listen to me. ”
“I will do that. Now we are even right?”
“Nope,” his mouth was now covered in ice cream.
“What is the second condition? And the last one. ”
“Well, I have always wanted a treehouse. So I need you to use your nature powers and build one for me and Delur,” he shot a smile at Trevor.
“Frazer and Mwansa are going to kill me for that. Is that all, my prince?”
“Yeah. And every time you come here, I will follow too. It’s very relaxing. And these chairs. Just perfect. ”
Trevor just smiled and leaned on the massage chair. It was indeed a perfect place for relaxation.
