After struggling with his mind, he finally reached a decision.
“Tell this to your brothers and you die,” Trevor said, looking at Mutale.
“Come on. You are serious,” he added after seeing the look displayed on his father's faces.
“Aren’t kidding. Especially your twin brother. If Justine gets involved, things will get tougher instead of easy. So don’t let your lips go loose. Do I make myself clear?”
“Yes, father.”
“Alright, here it goes.”
He explained every detail to his son, not leaving anything.
“Wait, so we have an uncle who is a dog?” Mutale asked in a low tone. “But how is he a dog?”
“I don’t know that either. And that is where you come in.”
“Trevor, I thought we would not include kids in this matter,” Sebastian said, mouth full.
“At least he is mature compared to the rest.”
“Thanks, father. And I promise you won’t regret it.”
“I hope so. I want you to destruct your brothers, they should not know about this, ok?” Mutale nodded. “Me and your uncle have to visit my so-called cousin. Like right now,” he added and took a bite from his chicken.
“Dude, I’m still eating,” Sebastian said.
“I will do that, father. Thanks for trusting in me,” the boy dipped his head and headed to his brothers.
Trevor watched as Mutale talked to his brothers, though he could not listen to a thing. After a while, Mutale and all the boys left the living room and rushed upstairs. God knows what Mutale said to make them leave the television alone.
“Now is our chance,” Trevor said.
“Let me just.......”
Before he could even finish his sentence, Trevor touched Sebastian and shadow walked. Seconds later, they appeared in a dark place.
The only thing that was visible was the dog’s red bug eyes.
Sebastian moved behind Trevor as they began walking forward.
He called to his wizard powers and immediately gave his wand a casual flick. The tip of it began glowing, but it was not bright enough to light up the all room. Only enough to cover five feet from them.
“He is not furious, is he?” Sebastian said behind Trevor.
“He is on chains. And you are a freaking werewolf, why the hell are you so afraid? Now will you leave my back?” Trevor scolded.
“So nice of you to show up after you left me talking to myself, cousin,” the dog groaned.
“Oh, please, it was an emergency. Anyway, that is not why we are here,” Trevor said as they stopped about five feet from the dog.
“What do you want? And who is he?” He turned his head to look at Sebastian.
“This is Sebastian and Sebastian this is....... What is your name?”
“Emmanuel.”
“Alright Emmanuel. But first, don’t you have a human form? I would prefer that,” Trevor said.
“You father made sure I don’t use that form again,” he said through clenched teeth.
“Because of a good reason, I presume?”
“Not really.”
“Then will you explain how you ended up here? And how can you turn into the dog form? Also about my house speaking or something like that?”
“So many questions. Luckily I was prepared,” Emmanual said. “So, as I told you the first time you were here, grandfather should have given this house to me, not you. Since I’m older than you, it should have been mine,” he paused for a breath and Trevor thought it best to take advantage of the situation.
“How old are you?”
“I’m forty.”
“Damn, you are old,” Sebastian said.
“Thanks for rubbing it in,” Emmanual said. “As I was saying, this beast belongs to me.....”
“Wait, what beast are you talking about?” Trevor cut in.
“The house, what else? Therefore, I should have been the one running the house, not you. This house has a beast inside it. Her name is Stucco. She has been trying to talk to you but your mind and hers are just two different.”
“Trevor, we have been living with a freaking beast all these years,” Sebastian said with a shake voice.
“Relax,” he removed Sebastian’s figures from his shoulder. “Tell me more about this beast,” he looked at Emmanuel again.
“Your father, my father and grandfather, caught her when the beast clan attacked the magical world. But they didn’t kill her, they thought it would be best to have them on their side,” he stopped as his ears stood up. “I know, Srucco, he is a jerk. But don’t worry, I will be the one to run this house......”
“How are you talking to her? We can’t even hear a thing,” Sebastian cut in.
“As I said, I’m the one who is destined to run this house, werewolf.”
“Ok, I will come back later, we need to attend something before the night ends. Carry on talking to your girlfriend,” Trevor said, looking around the room awkwardly.
“She is not my girlfriend’s kid,” Emmanual said, rather defensively.
“Whatever, Sebastian let’s go.”
After he felt Sebastian’s touch, he shadow walked, and they appeared inside the library.
Trevor walked towards the table and Sebastian followed, not really sure what he was doing, judging by his expression.
They both pulled the chair and sat down opposite each other.
After seeing that the room was too dark, Trevor waved his wand and the lights in the ceiling lit up.
“What are we doing here? I thought interrogating him was the job at hand. And since he was saying everything on his own, we need not to visit hell,” Sebastian said.
“Well, something important came up. And we are still going to hell, I don’t trust whatever Emmanuel says, heck if Emmanuel is even his real name.”
“You and your family. And what is so important? Because I can only see books in here,” he looked around then turned to Trevor.
“The Hope will be here in a few minutes.”
“How do you know that?”
“He gave me a head up. Somehow I can mind talking with him,” he said casually, as if it was not something weird.
“But you were doubting Emmanual when he told you he can talk to the house. But here you are saying you can talk to Hope in your mind,” Sebastian said.
“Oh, please, you don’t expect me to believe a man I found locked in Santa’s dan,” Trevor said.
“Whatever, just tell Hope to hurry. You know we have to visit your family. And where the hell is Egayov? I haven’t seen him ever since he came.”
“I’m not his babysitter. But I think he is busy with a couple of things.”
Before Sebastian could reply, sparkles come into focus, just a few feet from them. They looked at each other, then turned to the portal again.
It began growing in size, and before they knew it, the portal was enough for an elephant to pass. Then a man’s bot emerged from the portal, and seconds later Hope stood in front of them and the portal vanished out of existence.
Hope wore a black shirt with strips wrapped around him. Black jeans and military bots.
“Hey Trevor, Sebastian,” Hope dipped his head.
“Hey Hope,” they said at the same time.
“So, what is going on? Anything new? Hopefully, you have seen the woman’s face by now,’’ Trevor said.
“And no lame excuses this time,” Sebastian added.
“Are you done? Can I get a drink and take a seat, my kings,” Hope said and bowled.
“Sure,” Trevor said, and they went to sit down.
Trevor waved his wand after noticing the look in Hope’s eyes. Green light left the wand and struck thin air. Then, seconds later, a bottle of red wine and champagne appeared on the table. Followed by a plate full of rice, chicken breast and small pieces of meat. Then lastly three wine glasses.
Trevor took the bottle of champagne, opened it and pulled enough wine to reach half the wine glass. Then passed the wine bottle to his friend.
Hope, on the other hand, took the bottle of red wine and pulled it into his glass cup. Almost enough to spill.
Formerly, he took a bite from his chicken wing and took a sip from his wine.
“Are you now ready to talk or you require more food?” Trevor asked.
“So,” Hope began, then took another sip from his wine, “to answer your first question, we haven’t yet seen the woman. Ever since she left, she hasn’t been able to come back, because of certain reasons.”
“Well, keep trying, we need to know more about her, her powers and the like. The more we know, the better. Try asking Reyar. I presume she might know more about her,” Trevor said.
“We will do our best,” Hope said and carried on eating.
“So, why did you come here? It can’t be just food.”
“He might have come for food, who knows,” Sebastian said.
“Reyar is planning a big attack, so you better get prepared. I hope you have been training,” Hope spoke.
Just when he thought things couldn’t go any worse, here comes another problem.
