He carried on pacing for almost thirty minutes, then he stopped and looked at Death, then Hope.
“But I thought the academies are supposed to be four? If my father was an Academy, then that makes five,” Trevor said, looking at both men thoughtfully.
“We found the academy of memory after your father left. And I don’t know why this is so hard to believe. You and your children have the Academy blood in you. Why the hell do you think you are going to replace us?” Death said.
“He has a point. As much as I hate these bastards. I can tell he is telling the truth,” Sebastian said.
“See, even the dog man agrees,” Hope said.
“What did you just call me, you filthy bastard?” Sebastian began moving closer to Hope.
“Aren’t you a dog?” Death asked.
“I’m not you assholes. I’m a werewolf. That too an Alpha,” his fingers began changing.
Then Trevor touched him and stopped him from doing what he was about to do.
“And also I think. Emit and that other old man might know about your father being an Academy. So I think you can ask them. But if they know it and they haven’t told you yet. Then you need to find a way to get it out of them. Don’t just go and ask,” Death spoke.
“Sebastian, let’s go. I will come back. You bastards have a lot to answer. And if I find out you are lying, then you will pay,” Trevor said and touched Sebastian.
Then, with one glance at the academies, he shadow walked and appeared in the living room.
Everyone looked at them. But not surprised or anything. They were kinder, getting used to it. So they just looked at them and turned on the TV.
“Emit and Hephzibah, I need to talk to both of you. Now,” he emphasized the last word.
Emit and Hephzibah shared a look and then got up. They moved from everyone’s earshot.
“I told you I don’t want any secrets, didn’t I?” Trevor asked, eyes still burning with anger.
“Yes,” Emit and Hephzibah replied.
“What haven’t you told me yet? About my father?” He added.
“Well, nothing. I think we have told you everything we know about him,” Emit spoke.
“Not everything. So start spitting whatever you haven’t told me yet. I can’t be finding out about stuff my father did from my enemies. While his right-hand men are in my house,” he looked at them and they just looked down. “I’m waiting,” he added.
“Nothing really. Whatever those filthy academies have told you isn’t true. Why are you even believing a word that is coming out of their mouths?” Emit spoke.
“Because it happens to be the truth. As much as I hate those assholes. They were telling the truth. And here we are. People I consider my families are lying to me. I give you one chance. Tell me what the truth is,” he spoke and his veins began glowing.
“Trevor, calm down,” Sebastian said and touched his shoulders, “they are kids here. I think going to the library might be a good idea,” he said suggestively.
“No. The living room is ok. Now, are you going to tell me or do I have to get it out of you?”
“Alright. We didn’t want you to know because you would think.....”
“My father is a bad person?” He interrupted Hephzibah, “even if that is the case, you should have told me. I’m not a baby, you know.”
“Sorry. I know we should have. But I only did it for about two years,” Emit said.
“Two years is enough to kill thousands of people, Emit. So that doesn’t justify his actions. He was a killer, and that’s it.”
“This is why we didn’t want you knowing about it,” Hephzibah said.
“You lied to me. And that has its consequences. I had to find out about my father being an academy from those bastards. Tomorrow, first thing in the morning. I want both of you out of my house. Nothing can justify your lies Emit,” he held up a hand to silence Emit as he opened his mouth.
“Trevor....”
“Sebastian don’t. They lied even after I told both of them not to lie to me. This is the price they have to pay. And this is the end of our discussion.”
He pushed Emit out of the way and went straight upstairs.
He entered his bedroom and threw himself on the bed. Gazing at the ceiling.
My father was a killer. Does that make me a killer as well? That explains why I have been acting like a psychopath when killing these bastards. But if my kids a destined to be the Academies then that means. No. I won’t allow that to happen. My kids are not going to be the next killers. He thought.
And before he knew it, he was fast asleep.
The next morning he woke up very early, even before Loveness woke up.
He took his robe and went downstairs. His head still spinning with questions.
Was he making the right decision to throw Emit and Hephzibah out of the house? What if that is what the Academy want him to do? Divide his family. But again. Emit and Hephzibah has agreed that his father was once an Academy. Which implies Death and Hope were telling the truth.
He reached downstairs and jumped to his toes as he saw a figure standing not too far from him.
“Dude, you scared me,” he said, and moved to the couch.
“Well, took you long enough,” Sebastian said and followed him.
“Did you know I was coming here?”
“Yeah. You keep forgetting I’m your friend, asshole. Every time you are stressed you sleep early and wake up early,” he sat down on the opposite couch.
The living room and the house were very dark. The only source of light was coming from a lampstand on the wall.
They stayed in silence for a few minutes then.
“Do you think I’m making the right decision?” Trevor asked.
“About?”
“Throwing Emit and Hephzibah out of the house.”
“I don’t know. All I can tell you is to trust yourself. Do you think it is the right decision?”
“Yeah. They lied. Despite me telling them never to do that.”
“Then it’s settled,” Sebastian spoke.
Again, silence blew in.
“But. You should also know your father might have done it because he thought it to be right. But well, it was wrong until your mother came into his life. So in the end, all was well. I’m saying this because you are probably mad at your father. And worries you will end up like him,” Sebastian said.
“Well, I have shown so far that I’m his son,” Trevor spoke and leaned on the couch.
“You do what is necessary to protect your family. And the bastards we kill always deserve it. So don’t feel bad about that, eh?”
“But I could have chosen a better way to punish them, don’t you think?”
“Trevor, stop it. Just stop it. Those assholes got what they deserve. All of them. Whoever we have punished deserved what we did to them. So don’t feel bad about that. And I don’t want to hear about this crap, ok?”
“You don’t have to scold me,” Trevor spoke, still looking in the ceiling.
“You deserved it,” Sebastian said and silence erupted again.
The sun blossomed from the clouds and the men got from the couch and went to the academies.
They reached there and Trevor went closer to them.
Both Death and Hope were sleeping. But Trevor didn’t care about that.
As he reached about five feet from them, they both opened their eyes and screamed on top of their lungs.
“What the hell do you think you are doing? We are trying to sleep here, boy,” Death scolded.
“You don’t deserve to sleep, you bastard,” Sebastian said.
“What do you want, anyway? I thought we told you what we needed,” Hope said, closing his eyes each passing second.
“And did you confirm what we told you? Did Emit and Hephzibah confirm that your father was a blood killer?” A smile crept on Death’s face.
“We told you, but you were so stubborn. From now on, you should be listening to us,” Hope added.
“Thank you for that. But I’m not like my father. I only punish people who deserve it. Like you,” he went closer, and the academies screamed even louder.
He touched Death’s hand and moved his finger from the wrist to Death’s shoulder. Then a line got created and smoke was coming from it.
Trevor looked at Hope and the old bastard was nodding his head. Eyes filled with fear. Trevor just grinned and went closer to Hope.
“See. Only punishing those who deserve it,” he smirked and did the same thing he did to Death.
He then called to his nature powers and the vines holding both the academy began detaching from the wall. Moving the academies closer to Sebastian in the process.
They both began nodding their heads as they saw Sebastian’s hand transform.
Then as they reached him. Sebastian grinned darkly and punched Hope in the stomach. So hard the man coughed blood.
Then he turned to Death and punched him on the left cheek. And blood came out of the old man’s mouth.
He carried on punching them so much that their faces were becoming unrecognizable.
Then after about thirty minutes, Trevor moved the vines and pinned the academy back to the wall.
“Did you enjoy that? We were just saying thank you for your information,” he grinned.
“You are welcome,” Hope said and spitted blood on Trevor.
Trevor wiped the blood using his hand and then moved closer to Hope. Then, after taking one glance at the old man. Trevor punched Hope on his leg and then he heard bones cracking.
Hope screamed in agony. So loudly that the neighbors might have heard it.
He then took five to six steps back.
He waited until they healed completely and then asked.
“Can you tell me more about Reyar’s plan?”
“After what you did to us. Do you seriously expect us to help you? Noway,” Death said and spitted the last of his blood.
“Well, I was saying thank you. And I can make you pass through so much torture as compared to that,” Trevor spoke.
“Why don’t you just kill them already? These bastards are just wasting out time. We will find what we need on our own. Like always,” Sebastian said.
“Boy, don’t be stupid. You need us and you know that yourself. You won’t find anything related to the one trying to kill your daughter in those books. And neither will you find anything related to Reyar. Don’t act like senseless people,” Hope said.
“If you don’t want to meet your.........”
The door suddenly blew inwards. Trevor and Sebastian turned. Mutale entered.
“Boy, what do you want?” Trevor asked
“Well, you have to see what Emit and Hephzibah are doing,” Mutale said.
“What now,” Trevor said lazily and he and Sebastian began moving closer to Mutale.
“He is trying to hide more secrets from you,” Death said and he and Hope both begin laughing loudly.
But neither Trevor nor Sebastian replied they just went out of the room.
They walked through the dark passage wall. And the source of light was coming only from Trevor and Mutale’s wand.
They took a turn and walked through the marble passage wall, and finally reached the living room.
Both Emit and Hephzibah were standing with their bags. Then the women and kids were trying to stop them from leaving.
“Trevor, please talk to them. They can’t just leave,” Loveness said as she notices both Trevor and Sebastian.
“If they want to go, then why are you stopping them? Neither of them were in your lives before, so them leaving shouldn’t affect you,” Trevor said, glancing from Emit to Hephzibah.
“Trevor, is there anything that you are not telling us?” Mrs. Sinkale asked.
“No. Just let them go if they want to. They are old enough to make their own decisions,” he turned and began going to the stairs.
“If they are leaving, then I’m going with them,” Azariah said.
“Me as well,” Mrs. Sinkala spoke.
Trevor stopped but still faced his back on them.
“So be it,” he said and carried on climbing the stairs.
He went into his bedroom and sat on the bed. Mind confused. What was happening to his family? Was he making the right decision by throwing Emit and Hephzibah? And why did he not stop the two women from leaving as well?
Was he heartless like his father used to be? Was his father’s cold-hearted genes catching up to him?
