Valtor

Chapter 9

Kit leads me out of the white room and we walk down to the end of a hallway lined with more rooms like the one we just left. She stops and turn to me.
Before she says it, I already know Valtor is in here. I can sense his beast. He is calling to me.
“Valtor is in here, we will be just outside.” Then opens the door for me. Without hesitation I run in and see Valtor chained like an animal to the wall. 
“Valtor!” I yell. His eyes look with mine and he moves towards me, forgetting his chains. Causing the chains to strain against his arms. 
I close the distance between us and wrap my arms around his neck, hugging him. He steps back to find slack in his chains to hold me back.
“Allura,” his voice is deep and his eyes are bright yellow, his beast is close to the surface,”Did they hurt you?” He pulls me back to look at me directly while holding my face in his strong warm hands. I turn my cheek into him.
“No, I’m okay.” I reassure him.
“I won’t let them hurt you.” He promises.
My eyes start to tear at his protective nature over me. I need to focus.
“They let me in here so I can talk to you. They told me who you really are. Who all of you really are.” I study his face and he never breaks his eyes away from mine.
“I was going to tell you when the time came.” He says as he strokes his thumb over my cheek.
I take a deep breath. “Fine but don’t think that is the end of this conversation. It just so happens we have more pressing matters to discuss.” His eyes narrow in concentration.
“What is it?” He asks me while studying my eyes.
“They are giving me a choice to take me back to earth,” I pause and look at him. His jaw clenches and his beast flares his nostrils at me but he waits for me to continue,”or they said I can stay with you if I am willing to take my ability, to have children, away.”
He glowers over my shoulder at the door. His face is turning red in anger as he says nothing and stares. It looks like red laser beams might staring shooting from his eyes. I place my hand on his chest, breaking his internal turmoil. His eyes move over my face.
“Valtor, I know who I am to you. I spoke with your goddess.” I speak gently to him.
His eyes widen at my words.
“What did she say to you?” His full attention is on me know and he seems more curious rather than angry. That’s good, I need him level headed.
“She said we must form an alliance with the resistance and that we must show them the way by unlocking the gift she gave me.” She also said she hand picked me for Valtor but I chose to leave that part out, for now. 
“Oh yes and only you can help me unlock my gift.”
I see his jaw flex as he ponders over my words. 
“ Do you know what any of this means?” I ask him.
“What is the gift?” He asks me.
I lean in to whisper in his ear,”fire.” One word. I said one word to him and looks as if the whole world just ended. “What…What is it? Is it bad?”
“We have to get out of here and meet with the others. They need to know.” Then he does something completely unexpected. He yells for Kit to come in.
She saunters in and she looks at Valtor like she is about to draw her claws and meow at him. 
“Hey pretty boy, your girlfriend is real cute.”she teases and I definitely feel some weird vibes between them. 
“Kit this is no time for games. You need to release me and I need to get to the others. This is serious.”Then he says something in a different language I can’t understand.
“Haluk Han Duvir Partuse.” The words rolls off of his lips and somehow it sounds s****l to me. Damn, no, I need to get my mind out of the gutter and stay focused.
I look at Kit and she is looking at Valtor with furrowed brows and tight lips. Seemingly deciding if she is going to help or not. 
“If I’m wrong then let you take her back to earth.” My eyes narrow at him and I’m suddenly really pissed. 
“How dare you!” Anger boils over into each word. “That is my decision to make, not yours.” I state matter of fact.
“Fine.” Kit says while leaving me out of the conversation completely.
“What the hell is wrong with you two! I’m right here assholes.” I say to the both of them.
“What are yall talking about anyway?” I ask them.
They stare at each other and Kit smirks and turns to me,”I’ll let him speak with you, meet me in the hall when you’re done chatting.” She turns and leaves, closing the door behind her.
A loud buzzer sounds and his chains fall to the floor. I am fuming in flames of fury.
“Tell me what is going on right now and why you are all of the sudden willing to let me go back to earth?” He looks at me curiously and a smile peeks out from the corner of his mouth. 
“Are you angry sweetie? I thought that was what you wanted was to go back to earth.” I know what he is getting at but he is deflecting my first question.
“What is going on Valtor, what does what I told you have to do with the others? What am I walking into?” I cross my arms over my chest and start tapping my foot in frustration.
He stalks towards me to close the distance between us. I stand unmoving, arms still folded. He hugs me against his chest and my resolve wears at his affection. My arms unfold to rest on his chest. I look up into his eyes, he is the most handsome creature-man I have ever laid eyes on. 
“What is going on, is you are mine Allura, and you and the other woman will prove that the goddess approves of the earth females as mates.”
“But how?” I am confused and worried.
“I’m not sure yet but the others may have some information we can use. We need to see if the other woman have had similar experiences with the goddess, same as you.” He soothes me as he says this drawing wide long circles on my back with his hand.
“Ready to ride with me on herosback?” That peaks my interest. I remember him promising me a ride before we landed on the planet. Herosback is like horseback riding or so he says it is the most comparable experience he could give me.
I show him a warm smile but inside I’m a little nervous.
“Don’t worry I won’t let anything happen to you and I’m sorry to say this but as long as I’m alive you will never see earth again, not if it means we cannot be together.” He is completely serious.
I should be really pissed that he just said that to me but I’m not. Instead I feel relief in his words. Is it possible that I have so easily fallen for this man in such a short time? It is all so strange.
I realize I’m just standing there with my mouth open caught up in my thoughts. After a few moments pass of not responding to his confession he probably assumes I need time to accept my new reality and hold his hand out to me.
“Come sweetie, I’m not letting you out of my sight.” 
I put my hand I his and he pulls me forward and we join Kit in the hall. She is resting her back on the wall with one leg propped up on it and checking out her nails as if she is bored to death.
“Kit take us to the stables, we are riding by herosback.” 
She smirks back at him.”That’s what I’m talking about, let’s go.”
