I had been married to Elliot Shaw for seven years, and he still hadn't forgotten his first love.

When the car accident happened, Elliot climbed out from behind the wheel and rushed first to Claire Morgan in the back seat. He forgot about me who was trapped in the passenger seat with worse injuries.

That was when my heart finally died.

I signed the divorce papers he handed me.

Everyone assumed I couldn't survive without Elliot. Even Elliot.

So when he watched me step into someone else's car, he was there in an instant, one hand braced against the door, his face a mask of frozen fury.

Chapter 1
I had been married to Elliot Shaw for seven years, and he still hadn't forgotten his first love. When the car accident happened, Elliot climbed out from behind the wheel and rushed first to Claire Morgan in the back seat. He forgot about me who was trapped in the passenger seat with worse injuries. That was when my heart finally died. I signed the divorce papers he handed me. Everyone assumed I couldn't survive without Elliot. Even Elliot. So when he watched me step into someone else's car, he was there in an instant, one hand braced against the door, his face a mask of frozen fury. …… It was the third day since I had woken up in the hospital. In those three days, Elliot Shaw hadn't shown up once. I looked at Claire Morgan's latest i********: post on my phone, and a bitter laugh escaped me. In the photo, Elliot was gently feeding Claire a bowl of homemade chicken soup. The caption read: "Thank you, Elliot, for making me soup from scratch. It tastes just as good as it always does." So that was why he hadn't come. He'd been busy cooking for another woman. And of all things, he'd made her that soup. Yet in the seven years I had been married to him, I had never even known he could cook. Once, Elliot and I fought over Claire. I was so furious that I drank until I vomited blood. The doctor said I would need soft, bland meals to protect my stomach from then on. Elliot had never once made anything like that for me on his own. I stared at Claire's pretty profile in the i********: post and gave a self-mocking smile. Hadn't I known this all along? He didn't love me. Even after seven years of marriage, even after I had given him everything I had, I still couldn't warm his heart. Again and again, he had abandoned me for Claire. Even when I was bleeding out after the car accident, he chose Claire first, though she was barely hurt. He left me trapped there until the ambulance arrived. So what was I still waiting for? My finger moved on the screen, and I liked Claire's post. Then I sent Elliot a message. Vanessa: Come by when you have time. I agree to the divorce.
