blessed luna rising 6

Act V: The Blessed Luna Rising The sound that left Ayla’s throat was not the howl of a wolf. It was a shockwave. The acoustic blast rippled across the Valley of Bones, shattering the ancient mammoth tusks into dust. Every single wolf on the battlefield—Silver-Vane and Midnight Crest alike—was instantly dropped to their knees, their ears bleeding, their instincts screaming at them to submit to a power that predated the mountains themselves. Lira was thrown backward, crashing into the rock, the quartz crystal flying from her hand and shattering on the stone. The stolen silver light vanished. Ayla’s body began to change. It wasn't the violent, bone-snapping transformation of the lower wolves. It was a beautiful, terrifying ascension. Her skin didn't grow fur; instead, a coat of pure, blindingly white light enveloped her, forming the silhouette of a colossal, ethereal wolf. Her dark hair turned to a mane of silver fire that floated in the wind, and her eyes—once a dull, human brown—shattered into a brilliant, cosmic silver that held the light of a thousand stars. She did not become a black wolf like Kaelen, nor a gray wolf like Vardos. She was the Blessed Luna. The living avatar of the Moon Mother. The white light radiating from her body was so intense that it turned the red night back into day, washing over the valley, melting the snow, and exposing the black earth beneath. Ayla stepped toward Lira. Every step she took left a footprint of glowing silver grass in the dirt. Lira scrambled backward, her eyes wide with a terror so deep she couldn't even breathe. "No... no, it's impossible... you're a Dullard... I am the chosen one... I am..." "You are a thief," Ayla’s voice resonated through the valley, spoken not with her mouth, but through the minds of every living soul within a hundred miles. It was the absolute Pack-Link—the voice of the Mother. "You stole the light because you were too weak to cultivate your own. You cast me into the dark, not knowing that the dark is where the moon shines brightest." Ayla raised her hand. The white light around her condensed into a massive, spectral paw. With a single, casual flick of her wrist, she struck Lira. The false Luna didn't bleed; instead, the spectral light tore the wolf spirit clean out of her body. Lira let out a silent, horrified scream as her inner wolf was unmade, dissolved into white dust by the Goddess’s light. When the light faded, Lira lay on the ground, entirely human, entirely hollow—a true Dullard. "Father! Save me!" Lira wept, clawing at the dirt. But Vardos could not save her. He was currently pinned beneath the massive paw of Kaelen, who was staring at Ayla with an expression of pure, unadulterated worship. Ayla turned her cosmic silver eyes toward Vardos. She walked over to where Kaelen held him down. The Midnight Crest wolves bowed their heads so low their noses touched the earth. The Silver-Vane wolves, realizing the magnitude of their heresy, broke their bond with Vardos. One by one, they dropped to their bellies, whimpering for mercy from their true queen. "Vardos," Ayla said, standing over the trembling Alpha. "You killed my mother. You lied to your people. You tried to sacrifice the blood you were sworn to protect." "Mercy..." Vardos choked out, his iron armor melting from the sheer heat of her proximity. "Mercy, Blessed One..." "The Moon Mother offers mercy to the repentant," Ayla said softly. "But I am the Luna of the Midnight Crest. And we do not forget." She looked at Kaelen. With a vicious, satisfied snarl, Kaelen snapped his jaws down, ending the reign of Alpha Vardos forever.
