Chapter 1

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. “Ughh! That time already? It feels like I didn’t sleep! I thought to myself. I rolled out of bed and went to the bathroom. I brushed my hair and went to my closet to see what I could find to wear today. I found my falling in reverse t-shirt and a pair of Tripp pants that had all the chains and straps off them. I changed out of my pj's and put my clothes on. I looked at my watch and saw that it was 08:00am. I get my backpack and start running to wear the bus stop is. When I got to the bus stop, there were a lot of kids waiting for it. They were all talking but I didn’t pay much attention. Finally, the bus came. We all piled in, and I sat at the back of the bus waiting for Brookes bus stop. Finally, she got the bus on. She knew I was always behind. “Good morning”, Bookes says. “Good morning”, I say back to her. She knows I’m not much of a morning person. “Did you hear we have some new kids starting today?” Bookes says. I looked at her with a questionable look in my eyes. She then goes on to say “They are coming from the town because someone burned down their school”, I think, and I remember hearing about a school being burnt down by some crazy arsons. They never found the culprit. “I didn’t think they would start going to our school. There are tons of high schools around. Why are they coming here?” I said. Brookes looks at me and says “They wanted to go to our school. You should know we are the best high school around in the few small towns.” I think we did get the best grades in just the few small towns that were around. The only other school was there and that got good grades as well. “Maybe you will finally make more friends just me and Steven.” I looked out the window and didn’t respond to her. I hate meeting new people I get made fun of because of my eyes. “You know I hate meeting new people. All they do is make fun of me and it pisses me off. I wish I didn’t have to be different,” I said. “If they make fun of you, oh well, they are lost for not seeing how much of a good person you are,” Brookes says. I start to say something but then realize we are the last ones on the bus. The bus drivers know me really well, so I have been taking this bus since last year. She kind of lets me and Brookes get away with a lot, since we are not trouble makers. “Sorry Mrs. Walton, I didn’t know we were at school yet.” “No worries. Star I didn’t mind I didn’t have to get the middle school kids for a few more minutes. It doesn’t matter what the other kids say, they are just jealous because they can’t have the cool eyes you do.” “Thank you, Mrs. Walton. You know I don’t like people talking about me.” I said to her while I got off the bus. Bookes and I head to the cafeteria to get breakfast. When we enter the cafeteria, we notice there are a lot more kids in there than normal. We go to the breakfast lane and got to the horrible school breakfast lane and went to the beagle and cheese sausage with juice, milk, and a cup of fresh fruit. We are going to look for Steven. When we finally see him, we go and sit and eat. “Good morning! Why are there so many people here today?” Steven asks. “The school that was burnt down a week ago those kids moved to our school.” I said to Steven. He looks around and just shakes his head. “I didn’t think they would all come here. We have a few high schools they are around they could have gone to.” He speaks. We finished eating and started heading to our class. I’m lucky I have both of them in this class. The bell rings to indicate we need to start getting ready. I sat in the back of the classroom talking with Steven and Brookes. “I heard the new guy is cute! I sadly haven’t seen him yet”, Brookes says sadly. “I don’t care how he looks, it’s if he is nice to us,” Steven said. “I don’t care, I don’t want to meet anyone new. I hate people” I said. Mr. Smart comes in and the whole class becomes quiet. Mr. Smart said. “Hello, my name is Josh Bardalph. I’m 16 years old, and I like to hike.” Josh said. “Hello, my name is Daniel Adalwolf. I’m 16 years old, and I like to write,” Daniel says. “Hello, my name is Mark Acwulf. I’m 16 years old, and I like to ride bikes.” “Thank you, Josh, Daniel, and Mark. You may sit down in any seat you see that is free and, if you please open twilight and start reading Chapter 22.” Mr. Smart said. “Chapter 22 HIDE-AND SEEK It had taken much less time than I’d thought- all the terror, the despair, the shattering of my heart. The minutes were ticking by more slowly than usual. Jasper still hadn’t come back when I returned to Alice.” I read the whole chapter. This book is good but kind of weird. Why in the hell would a god know how an old vampire fell in love with a 16-year-old girl? And why would she fall in love with him? He is dead and cold! I don’t get it but whatever! I thought. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of Josh. Brookes was right. He was really hot! There was something about him that made it hard for me to concentrate and keep staring. His scent was so nice! It smelled like vanilla and musty wood. I don’t know why I was smelling him but I couldn’t get it out of my head. Finally, the bell rang. A few of the other classes went by fast, but for some reason josh was still running through my mind. “Hello? Are you even listening?” Brookes asks. “ I am sorry my mind is somewhere else,” I said back. Brookes was getting annoyed. It was lunch time and I couldn’t stop thinking about him. Brookes stopped trying to talk to me and just ignored me. We had a few more classes left, then we would be able to go home. To my surprise, I had him in my last class, which was art. We were to partner up but I didn’t have anyone. Ms. Smith was the art teacher. She started to par us “Josh, you will be with SummerStar.” She spoke. Oh f**k! I can't be paired with him! This is going to be awkward! Did he notice when I was reading to him? “Hello Summerstar! My name is Josh. Nice to meet you. I guess I will be your partner for art until the end of the year,” Josh said. “h…hello Josh. It is a pleasure meeting you…uu.” I stuttered out awkwardly. “Today we will be doing partner portraits. I have got everyone prepared. Please start and decide who will go first, then next week you will be painting your partner.” Ms. Smith said. “www...ho do you want to go first,” I asked. “Ladies first”, Josh said with a big smile on his face. I started looking at him and trying to figure out what colors I was going to use. He had tanned skin and long brown hair that he wore in a high ponytail. I grabbed the paintings I thought would look good and started painting him. The bell rang. Finally, I could get out of here. I started cleaning what I was using and Josh was checking out what I was painting. “Oh no you don’t! you can't see that until I’m done!” I said while running back to put it by the window to dry. “I want to see what it looks like. It's my picture after all.” He said while using the puppy dog eyes on me. “ That’s not going to work! I do it all the time with my parents to get what I want!” I said back to him. “Fine be like that!” as he walked away. I could help but feel sad that he got angry and walked away from me. I missed the bus because of how long it took me to fight with Josh. I finally got home. My mom was cooking dinner. “Hi sweaty! How was your first day of school?” my mom asked. “It was school. You know I’m not a fan of school.” “Aww sweaty. It will be okay. You get good grades, so I never have to worry.” “I’m going to my room until dad gets home and dinner is done.” I started walking off to my room. While I was up in my room I couldn’t stop thinking about Josh. I don’t know why I couldn’t get him off my mind. His smell was great too. Mom finally says dinner is done and dad is home. I went downstairs and mom’s cooking smelled great! I'm excited about eating. I love mom’s cooking. “Hi sugar plum. How was school?” dad asks. “It was school.” I said back. “We have something to tell you,” Mom says. Oh, great, what is it now? “Yes, mom, what is it?” “ Looks like this is very important.” I looked at my mom and dad. They look at me with guilt. “ It is hard for us to tell you this,” Dad said. “We love you very much, sweaty.” Mom said. “Please just tell me I can't handle this. You know me, just get straight to the point.” I said back, a little annoyed. “You were adopted….” My mom told me. “Wait what?” I had a feeling…. I look nothing like them, but I was a spoiled kid so I know I’m loved. “Your parents died from an attack,” Dad said. “What do you mean an attack?” “ You're not human. You’re a werewolf." my dad said, looking sad. “Wait, what did you just say? I’m a what?” I almost started to yell. I'm having a panic attack. “Are you guys' werewolves?” I asked, trying to keep my cool. “I'm sorry it's sweaty, but we are not werewolves. We are humans but we know about your kind and have accepted them. We are what you call keepers,” Mom said. “Your real parents told us to keep you safe. We made it so no one knows where you are. You are a very special kind of werewolf.” Dad told me. “We are moving in a week to the blue moon pack. We don’t want you to shift while in the human part of the world,” My mom says. “you're not going to dump me there and leave?” I was getting sad since I thought they were going to leave me there. “No sugar plum. We are not leaving you there alone, we are all going to live together.” Dad said. I was relieved to know I wasn’t going there alone. “When you are 16 you will shift into your werewolf form,” Mom said. I can't eat. I had too much going on and mom cooked my favorite food, had homemade salsa and tacos. “I can't eat. I'm sorry I'm going to my room.” I said and started to head up there. “Sugar plum I promise everything is going to be okay.” Dad said before I disappeared upstairs. I just needed to think and sleep. I turned on falling in reverse and started to go to sleep.
