Chapter 17

“Well, of course you do. I picked it.” I said jokingly. He laughed and was about to stand up, but I stopped him. “Jackson does not have anything, we need to get stuff for the time being.” I said and he only scoffed. Well, that was rude. He might be your son and you do not want to take care of him. Way to take responsibility! I looked at him with my accusing eyes and he stared at me. We had a little stare down and he gave in. “Fine. Let’s go.” He said, and I smiled widely at him. We got out of the house and Jackson was already asleep so I put a blanket around his tiny body to protect him from the cold. I sat in the back of one of Christian’s SUVs and he drove us to the nearest mall. As we got out, I struggled with Jackson and the damn sling. I was so frustrated that I just took off the sling. “You know there is a reason the doctor said you have to keep it on for six weeks,” Christian said with his signature smirk. “No need, I am all good. And it was just getting in my way.” I said, getting out of the car, but as soon as I held Jackson with both arms I whimpered in pain. “And there is your reason.” Christian chuckled. I glared at him and he raised his arms in surrender. “Nothing a few pain pills cannot fix.” I smiled and walked towards the baby store. There was a sales lady that rushed to help us. To be honest, it looked more like she was trying to sell herself to Christian. I rolled my eyes and decided to get the stuff myself. I got a cart that had a baby seat and put Jackson in it. I got him the good formula and diapers. He is a handsome little fellow and deserves the best. I got him a pacifier and a toy that he could chew on. I walked towards the bottles and got him four more. If he is not staying, at least he has enough of what he needs. If he stays, then we are sure getting more stuff. I went to the clothes section and got him two pairs of clothes and a cute little one piece that was so fluffy and cute. I got him some cream and oils for his skin and then we were done. I went to look for Christian and he was still talking to that tart. Does he not have enough problems? I walked toward them and caught Christians attention. “Good. Skylar, this is Lucia. She is going to help us.” I stood beside him and he whispered to me. “Please get rid of her.” He gave me pleading eyes but I just gave him an evil smile. “Lucia, my friend here, is a little lonely. You see he is secretly gay but does not want anyone to know, so do you have someone in mind that could help him get out of the closet?” I asked, and she looked at me with wide eyes. She was so shocked I had to try really hard not to laugh. “Uhhm... excuse me.” She said and practically ran away. I laughed so hard. Christian jabbed me in the side. “I said get rid of her not ruin my reputation.” I just laughed harder at his stern face. This is amazing. He could just as well get used to it. We walked to pay for the stuff. The guy who was ringing the stuff was quite cute. “Evening Miss I hope you found everything you need for your handsome little boy.” He totally ignored Christian. “Yes, thank you. This little guy is not mine though,” I said, hinting to the guy. “Well, in that case I am Alex.” He held out his hand to me and I took it. He brought my hand to his mouth and put a soft kiss on my knuckles. I blushed a bit. ”Skylar.” I said, smiling at him. “Good now that you two know each other, can we please leave?” Christian said, a bit irritated. Is he jealous? This is new. “I hope I can see you again Skylar.” Alex winked at me. “Yeah don’t count on it buddy.” Christian said and ushered me out of the store. Just as we were out of sight, he grabbed my arm and turned me toward him. “Ouch!” I exclaimed loudly. “What the hell was that?” he asked angrily. “What was what?” I asked, looking innocent. “Oh please don’t look so innocent.” He said. “Is someone jealous?” I asked wiggling my eyebrows. Wait! Did he just blush? Aww that is so cute. “Now why would I be jealous?” he tried to hide his blush but it was too late. I already saw it. “Oh I must be imagining stuff.” I smiled at him and walked to the car. “Mister boss, I have a question.” I said, frowning a bit. “What?” he asked while putting the stuff in the trunk. “Where is Jackson going to stay when we go to Estelle tomorrow?” I asked and took the sleeping angel out of the baby chair. “He will come with us.” He said flatly. “You mean you want to take a two month old to a mafia that attacked you?” I asked and he just nodded getting into the front seat. That is going to be interesting. I got in with Jackson safely in my arms. On our way back to Christian’s place, I felt the fatigue setting in. Today has been a very eventful day. I put Jackson in my bed and, despite my tiredness, I opened my laptop to get some of my work done. I guess sleeping is going to be one of the many things that I won’t get here. I have done this work so many times that it is a routine by now. I was about to get in bed when I heard my door open and saw a shirtless Christian walking in. I can just say... WOW! He has one hell of a body. If I was a dog I would be drooling right now. “Like what you see?” and there goes the moment! “I have seen better.” I said giving him an evil smirk. “Yeah right.” And there is his signature smirk again. “Can I help you, mister boss?” I asked. “Do you know what time it is?” he asked and I looked at my laptop screen only to see that it is three in the morning! “Well now I do.” I said, shutting down everything and stretching to get rid of the stiffness. I looked back at Christian to see that he was staring. “It is rude to stare,” I said and he smiled at me. “Well, what are you doing at this time?” he asked me. “Making sure everything is in order and the world did not fall apart without me.” I looked at the bed and saw Jackson sprawled out like a little star. I guess since there is only a few hours before I should wake up I could take a quick power nap. “What are you doing up this late? Or should I say early?” I asked. “I was getting a glass of water and I thought that I would check up on you.” He smirked. “Aww I feel so special.” I faked a happy face and he chuckled. “Yeah just be ready at seven.” He said and turned to leave. “Goodnight mister boss.” I said and he turned looking at me and then smiled. “Goodnight Skylar.” And with that he left. I soon fell asleep. I have wanted a baby my whole life but I never thought that he would be so loud! It is five in the morning and I have a little devil in my arms. I quickly changed him but he was still screaming. I went downstairs and made him a bottle but he still would not stop crying. “What is wrong?” I asked, rocking him trying to make him stop crying. I tried giving him his pacifier but he just threw it on the floor. Why won’t he stop crying? “Just make him stop already!” Christian said, frustrated. “I am trying alright! Why don’t you take him, you made him.” I said, just as frustrated. Jackson is a sweet baby, don’t get me wrong, but right now he is really trying to burst my ear drums. “I did not!” Christian said, but I ignored him and put Jackson in his arms. Just as Christian was about to give him back, he stopped crying. “No way,” I said, not believing what I was seeing. Jackson is quiet and just snuggling up to Christian. “Who finds comfort in Christian’s arms?” I muttered, not really intending anyone to hear. “You would be surprised.” Christian answered, looking at the baby boy in his arms. “Well, now he must be your son!” I said throwing my hands up in the air dramatically. “No he is not and tomorrow I will prove that to you.” He said looking at me. I just shrugged. “Well, now that I am up I guess I will go get ready. Please don’t kill the kid.” I said. He laughed a little. “I will do my best.” He joked or at least I hope he is joking. I handed him the bottle and the pacifier. I went upstairs and took a quick shower. I decided to actually look like a decent woman today, so I wore a black and white dress with black pantyhose and black heels. I never wear these but I guess today I dress to impress. I let my hair fall down my back and straightened it a bit and put on some eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss. No need for heavy make-up. When I was happy with how I looked, I walked back downstairs. Christian's head snapped toward me and he seemed to be in a trance. “Happy to see I still got it.” I said, smirking. He snapped out of it and cleared his throat. “You actually look decent.” He said, looking back at Jackson who was drinking his bottle. “Christian, may I ask you something?” I asked in a serious tone. “Sure.” He said a bit hesitant. “What will you do if Jackson turns out to be your son?” I asked and he seemed to be thinking about it or have already thought about it. “I guess then he would have to stay with me because there is no way he is going to live with that drug addict.” He said angrily. It was all directed at her though. He looked at Jackson and I saw love in his eyes. “Is it possible that you actually have a heart, mister boss?” I asked and he laughed at me. “I guess it is somewhere in here.” He pointed toward his chest and I smiled at him.
