The girl he ruined
Rain poured heavily across Lagos Island as Adunni Salako stood outside Club Royale with trembling hands and tears burning behind her eyes. The message she received ten minutes ago refused to leave her mind. “Come see what your boyfriend is doing.” At first, she ignored it. Damian Cole was popular, rich, and constantly surrounded by girls. Rumors followed him everywhere. But tonight felt different. Taking a deep breath, Adunni pushed open the glass doors of the club. Loud music exploded through the air while colorful lights flashed across dancing bodies. Her heart pounded violently as she searched the crowded room. Then she saw him. Damian. Sitting comfortably in the VIP section. With another girl on his lap. Adunni froze instantly. The world around her became silent. Her chest tightened painfully as the girl wrapped her arms around Damian’s neck and kissed him slowly while his friends laughed loudly. One of them noticed her first. “Your girlfriend is here,” he mocked. Everybody turned toward her. Damian looked up lazily without guilt in his eyes. Instead of standing up to explain himself, he smirked. “Why are you looking shocked?” he asked coldly. Adunni felt her throat tighten. “Damian… what is this?” He stood up slowly, adjusting his expensive watch. “I’m tired of pretending, Adunni.” The words shattered her completely. The same man who once promised forever now looked at her like she meant nothing. Tears filled her eyes, but she refused to cry in front of everyone recording her humiliation. “I loved you,” she whispered painfully. Damian laughed softly. “That was your mistake.” The room exploded with whispers and laughter, but Adunni simply nodded slowly. For the first time, she realized love could destroy a person completely. Without another word, she turned around and walked away into the rain. And Damian Cole had no idea he had just lost the only person who ever truly loved him.
