"Benedict Johnson, a herbalist.. He got Sierra while he was in Italy when she was one year old. So that means her parents were in Italy.. Or she's Italian? She does look Italian. What is he doing in Italy though?" He murmured to himself before hacking for more information, "Ahh, he's there for work.." He added before typing again on his keyboard.
...
At the next day, at school, he kept on glancing at Sierra's direction when suddenly one of his friends, Andre, approached him.
"Hey, man. Have you heard about the news?"
"News? About what?" Cassian Asked,
"Our president's club are about to be removed since the club haven't been actived almost a year, She's looking for someone to recruit," Said by Andre, "Perhaps.. Perhaps you're interested?" He added, which Cassian just scuffed. "Never." He stated bluntly.
Andre's lips curved into a smirk, "Is that so? Alright." He stated before heading back into his own seat. Cassian's eyes drifted towards Sierra who was twirling a strand of her hair while writing something against her notebook.
'She looks.. Down.. Are she perhaps upset about it..?' He thought, fingers tapping against his desk, 'I don't really mind joining.. But what would she say? I bet she'll immediately toss away my application papers.' He exhaled deeply, lips pressed together into a bitter smile.
After class, students gathered their things to head home. His eyes found Sierra amidst the crowd, watching her packing up, how effortlessly beautiful she looks like without even trying on everything she do.
He shook the thought from his head and let out a huff, "Get a grip, Cass." He murmured to himself. He followed her as she went out of the classroom, 'Where is she going? Class hours had already been ended..' He thought as he stopped a few steps away from her. 'Hmm.. Isn't this her club room?' He watched her enter the room and closed the door.
He stepped forward and read the flyers pinned on the door. "For anyone who's interested in solving cases, we're recruiting.." He read aloud before suddenly the door opened, surprising both of them.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Sierra asked, crossing her arms. "Why are you here?"
"Umm.." He bit his lip, 'Shoot! I don't know what to say!' He thought before clearing his throat. Before he can stop himself, he spoke. "You're recruiting members, right? I-I.. I'm interested.."
Sierra was taken a back by what he just said, but neither is he. He wasn't expecting he'll say that loudly. "Are you for real?" She asked, flabbergasted. "Yeah.. May I..?" He said lowly. "Umm.. Alright.." She opened the door wide and stood aside, letting him enter.
As they both sat through the couch, opposite from each other, there were a deafening silence between them. It continued for a while before Sierra spoke. "What makes you interested in my club?"
"Well.. It sounds fun.. I always fond of mystery and stuff related to it. And I heard you're looking for members.." Said by him.
"You petty me, do you? You probably heard my club was about to get removed if I don't find any members." She scuffed. His eyes widened, "No, it's not like that—"
"You probably came here to laugh at me, that nobody will ever be interested on joining my club. I'd rather lose my club than have a member who joined because they felt bad for me." She said with a scoff.
Those words that came out from her mouth stung him.. It hurts him. "Is that what you really think of me, Sierra? I may be your rival, but I'm not like that. I-I.." He trailed off, the word stucked on his throat.
"Please leave.." She said, her eyes drifting away from his.
He didn't argue anymore and stood up, taking his leave. After he left, Sierra's mask fell off. Her usual blank expression that she tries to maintain slipped off. Hands trembling as she run It through her hair, breathe ragged and unsteady. 'I think I went far from that..' She thought, feeling guilty for bursting out her anger from him.
Meanwhile at Cassian, who was leaning against his locker, run his hand through his hair in frustration. 'I'm stupid.. Why did I even follow her..? Why did I said those things to her..? I already expected worst, but not this worst.. It.. It hurts somehow.. It shouldn't be, but it did.. Great heaven, what do I do now..?' He let out a deep sigh.
