Natalie’s POV
After telling my mom about Jacob, she suggested moving to New York early and finishing high school with my Aunt Netti. She helped me pack a few bags and told me she would take care of my dad and getting me transferred for school. She also said she would send the rest of my things later. She gave me her credit card for gas and made sure I had a phone charger.
“Call me every hour.” She was fighting back tears. I hugged her neck tight and got in the car as the tears started flowing. She and I both knew I couldn’t stay here. Not after being rejected by my mate.
Jacob’s POV
“She left.” Was all her mom would say.
“Where did she go?” I asked visibly concerned.
“No need for you to worry about it. She won’t be coming back for a long time so now you don’t have to deal with rejecting her.” She said angrily at me. Rightfully so. But Demetri howled in pain. He wanted his mate and me and my big mouth ruined that chance for us.
I left her house and went home to inform my father of what happened. To make matters worse, Natalie’s father was there as well. He definitely did not look happy. He stormed out of my dads office. Presumably to go home and talk to his mate about their missing daughter.
“I am very disappointed in you son. You didn’t even give the girl a chance to get to know each other. Moon goddess doesn’t make mistakes. But you definitely did.” With that he walked away. I sat down and put my head in my hands. Demetri was refusing to say anything at this point. I’m sorry, was the only thing on my mind.
Natalie’s POV
The trip from Washington to New York was a long one, I called home every hour like mom said, by the 2nd hour, my dad knew what was going on. He said that Jacob came in and told his father, the Alpha. The alpha was very disappointed in Jacob. That little information made me oddly satisfied. He didn’t know me. He had no right to say what he did. But at the same time I never let anyone get to know me that well except for Tinleigh. I looked at the clock and realized it was almost 10PM.
I called my best friend and told her everything.
“That a**hole! I’ll kill him!” She screamed in the phone.
I smiled to myself knowing she would always have my back. “No you won’t. You won’t say anything. I also don’t want him to know where I’m going. My dad said he tried to come to the house to talk to me. I don’t want me trying to come find me to talk to me or reject me all over again. It’s too much!”
“Okay, okay. I won’t. But he’s still a jerk.” She snipped.
“I know, I know.” I said sullenly.
After I hung up with Tinleigh, I called mom again. She asked that I continue to keep her updated and that Aunt Nettie knew of the situation and was expecting me.
I drove until I couldn’t drive anymore. I found a motel to stay in for the night. It would take two to three days to get there. I let my mom know I was stopping for the night.
I knew this was going to be a long trip but I also knew that it would be completely worth it in the end.
My brand new start. To become the person I was always meant to be.
