Chapter 6-3

580 Words

The formidable shadow of the Divide had covered them not long after their fight with some of Alahanai’s less palatable mutations. Between the forest at their backs and the looming mountain range, Tae was sad to see the last of true sunlight to be had for quite a while. Mines and tunnels riddled the foothills, but luck was with them. The section of mountains Lasra wanted had a small number, less than fifty all told. Eight and a half leagues to cover would take days and they were in search of a stone a little bigger than his fist. Well, forty-nine tunnels. Tae had brought them to the farthest southeastern opening the moment they broke through the tree line and a careful inspection yielded nothing. That was fine. It would hardly be in the first placed they looked and Tae was right about it.
