Tae’s skin paled far too much for Einith’s peace of mind as the elf told him that with a straight face.
“That is not why you hid it from me,” Einith grumbled in annoyance and maybe a little hurt. “What are you trying to hide?”
“We have almost no knowledge of each other. How would this even work with us?” Tae dropped his eyes, but Einith caught the dejected look flash across his face. “Why would you want anything to do with me in the long term?”
Einith’s smile bloomed despite his wish that it wouldn’t. But how could he resist? “Tae, why not ask me if I want to share this bond with you?”
“Because I am unable to break it if you say no.” A distressed noise made its way out of Tae after he said it, discordant and shrill in the darkness.
